It happened the same with my mother and me, we had never tasted it before and boiled red beets were pretty despiced before. Thank to TH-cam I could know this wonderful dish! I'm from Italy and it's much more better than an Italian ordinary soup (minestrone). Sour cream by the way here is unknown so we had to use a solid spreadable cheese. But the dish was anyway fantastic. Greetings.

Thank you. I live in England and my new neighbours are Russian... They invited me for dinner and made this for me... I didn't ask for the recipe and have searched here on TH-cam, so I can invite them for dinner and show them my appreciation for their kindness to me...Their English isn't very good, so I have learned the Cyrillic script and I am now learning to speak Russian...What a beautiful language...Greetings 🙋🏻‍♂

When I was a kid my dad always gave me the bone marrow as a treat, I was lucky, he let me have all of it - I can taste it now 🤣 even though that’s been (many) decades ago. And we were in Canada, so not strictly a European thing. I just made borscht a couple of weeks ago - after watching this video I know next time it will be even better. TY

Great story 👏 Thank you for sharing. When I was a kid, I didn't like it. Only now I can appreciate the taste. Back then, I preferred the core from the cabbage 😁 my grandmother would put a little salt on it and let me eat it.

This looks delicious. My brother has a Polish wife; but I started trying to make Borsch before he met her because I loved the taste in Russian restaurants. I actually have tried winging it, rather than following a recipe; but your version is very similar to what I have come up with over time. I think I make mine probably a little sourer than your real thing. Thank you so much for sharing your family recipe; it gave me a few new ideas to try, and your explanation of the process was very clear. I'm from the United States, by the way. Also: your black bread looked really good. Maybe you could post a recipe for that? (Oh, and my dad got me into eating the bone marrow many years ago, when I was a boy; I still think of it as a treat!)

Ok, I have to say that I have fallen in love with your recipe!! I'm a type of person that loves, LOVES raw garlic, bone marrow,, spices, and beets! And let us not forget about pork. I'm from Argentina, of Italian/ Basque blood. I absolutely appreciate beets. When I use beets, I use leaves, steams, everything. When I moved to the USA and met an Ukrainian family I learned about Borscht. God, I went crazy about it! I grew up eating a salad that my grandma prepared: boiled beets, fresh leves and steams, fresh garlic, fresh and thinly sliced red onions, sliced boiled eggs, salt, olive oil, red wine vinegar, black pepper. I was looking for an authentic Borscht recipe. I'm subscribing to your channel. Thank you.

Never seen it made this way, but I definitely want to try it. I also like the trick with the vinegar!

I can't wait to try this recipe out. I prefer it over frying the veggies.

I noticed that your English is so clear and it is good to make practice and learn new English words while watching your video😅 Greetings from Istanbul ☺️

I got the beets & other ingredients; will fire up the Borsch in a few days. Can't wait! I already cooked Hungarian Goulash & it was amazing. Ready for us some Borsch with crackers of course, we are American.
