I’m so impressed with your counters & the courage it takes to do a DIY project like this. I picture lots of those brown/black granite countertops changing over into a more updated look at a very reasonable cost.
I'm doing it! My counters were already painted when I moved in 20 years ago, and I painted solid colours 2x since then, but now I'm doing this! I already primed and painted the base white. This weekend I'll give it the sponge bath and veining, and squeeze in the top paint and finally polycrylic after work during next week. Very excited to give my kitchen the brightness and pop that it needs. Thank you!
Just found your channel and immediately subscribed. Im trying to find Part 1. Ill keep looking. Edit: yes, found it. Becca...could you please list what you use on your drop down menu for people like me...lol. Thanks gorgeous
Oh my goodness!! Beautiful job! I'm redoing my kitchen & I've been wanting a diy method of veining. I've been looking at an ivybridge color of granite with deep emerald veining but just can't justify spending that kind of money when I'm sure I would drop our cast iron skillets on it!!😊 This is great. TY for your tips & expertise. God bless!
This looks so beautiful! Amazing job … gives me hope that I can change my ugly brown busy granite once I work up the courage- you are an inspiration! Love all your seasonal decor videos as well- keep up the great work! ❤
Wow, Becca, you did an amazing job. The process was fun to watch, I had no idea you could do such a thing. I thought that was so neat when you used a feather 🪶 - it really took the veining, next level. Great job, I am super impressed. TFS and have a great weekend! Xoxo ❤🌷💐🪴☀️
That makes me SO happy!! I promise you ... you're going to LOVE them. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or just need encouragement. ☺️
You have done an EXCELLENT job! You may recall I mentioned last week that I have real marble countertops and you captured the essence of the marble so well! Adding the “milky” finish over the top was exactly what it needed to take it from amazing to perfect! And then the matte poly…even better to achieve the honed look. I am so impressed with your outcome and this tutorial. I will be sharing it with friends! I feel this was far less daunting than epoxy, I’m certain less odiferous, and a very affordable solution. Do keep us updated on how they wear as the year/years go by. That is always so helpful when doing research on a project you want to try to undertake. I love your green cabinets as well!
Rebekah, you are too kind. Thank you so much! Yes, doing them this way was much less daunting and messy than when I worked with the epoxy. You don't know how glad I am to not have to look at the yellowing counters anymore, lol. I will definitely keep you updated on how they wear. Have a wonderful day.
Very beautiful, they turned out beautifully. I would be so scared, but I would imagine if you don't like your counters, you should take the chance too. I love how they look, and I hope they will stay white for a long time. Beautiful job, Becca. God bless and stay safe 🙏 ❤️
I used the expensive Giani Epoxy kit 3 years ago and it has since yellowed in many places and it has also chipped in many places. On top of that, the pouring and leveling method of the topcoat left me with some uneven areas and some small bubbles. I am not a "beginner" to projects such as these and had what I would consider some very unfavorable issues. Now I need to fix these problems. I was dreading using that kit again and I also wanted to get rid of the shiny marble look. This video was exactly what I was looking for and I love the simplicity of it. Thank you
Hi there! Ugh, I feel your pain with how the epoxy yellowed over time. You will be so pleased with going the polycyclic route, instead! No yellowing, at all! Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.
Seen a lot tutorials the last days and yours is the one I am gonna try and gives me the confidents to do it. Cause when seeing all those others I thought I just gonna do a foilwrapping. Very happy I found yours, thanks so much!! I'm gonna do it on my very big dinnertable by the way 😅 ❤ from belgium
Becca, WOW, they look fantastic!! It seems like this method was easier than the epoxy and less messy. Thanks for doing all the research and sharing the process. Have a wonderful weekend. 😊
Tisha, you are always so kind. Thank you! I really hope that I have ... such a fun and budget friendly way to refresh your countertops! Have a great weekend.
Good morning Becca! Oh, my goodness, what a transformation! Your bravery and confidence paid off! It’s gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing everything decorated! Hope you have a restful weekend! 💕
Your kitchen counter tops look beautiful! You did a wonderful job on them. I would never tackle something like this but you always inspire us...just lovely! I hope you have a great week end too!
OMGosh!!! Absolutely perfect video!!! I do epoxy countertops, mine are also epoxy, and have yellowed, so I am redoing mine. This exactly what I have started doing to my counters, thought I would take a break and look up some, ran across yours...one question..."How do you know when to stop, not making it so gody, or too busy?" This is a huge problem of mine...thanks yours are gorgeous!!!
Going to be doing the veining on my counters tomorrow, thanks for the awesome tutorial! I just finished painting all our kitchen cabinets, almost went with the colour you used but we decided to go a bluer tone called Knoxville Gray by Benjamin Moore. The people who owned our house before us painted the counter tops a black with gravel texture in it. It held up awful and I hated it 😫so excited to make our kitchen our own!
Thank YOU Thank YOU Thank YOU I use the Water Base Poly and everyone says use Epoxy... I do NOT like the Smell of Epoxy and it does YELLOW. This is a GREAT Video Thank YOU for sharing this video... "BRAVA Darling... BRAVA"
Great job & great results. These was a huge project ~ I am sure you are THRILLED with the outcome. Cannot wait to seem them with spring decor! ~ Judy in NC
I work with paint and sealants alot. I refinish furniture for people. I use polycrylic on all light color refinishes i do. But never thought about using it on a countertop. Not sure how it would hold up. Have you done a follow up?
I’m following your tutorial and doing the veining tomorrow for our camper counters. I was looking for a budget update for marble and this was a perfect option! Hopefully mine turn out as gorgeous as yours!
Hey Becca thank u for the information on the counter tops. Mine are similar to the same colors as yours were from the beginning but I think I going to go with a color close to concrete gray and paint my base white. I will be practicing in my small bathroom lol
I have an old 70 yellow laminate countertop. Watching your video has inspired me to paint my countertop. What primer, paint and coating did you use originally for painting your countertop? Also is it scratch resistant?
Just followed this tutorial and loveeeee the look of my new countertops! Thank you SO much for sharing. Question: what products do you use to clean your countertops?
Hi Becca! The countertops turned out beautiful!!! I can imagine everytime you walk into your kitchen you just have to smile at the beautiful results! You put in a lot of time, effort and hardwork into this project, but bless your heart, the results are so worth it! Thank you for sharing this cost effective technique! Wishing you a wonderful weekend and a safe and happy week ahead! God bless!
Hi Gwen!! I'm so glad you think so ... thank you!! I can't tell you how nice it is to NOT see the ugly yellowed epoxy anymore, lol. Thanks again ... hope you have a great day!!!
Hi Becca, absolutely beautiful! I'm doing your method on my bath countertop. Did you use the same color for all the stippling and what colors did you use for the veining? Did you mix any colors together? I appreciate your help!
Hi Cherie, thank you! Good luck ... I know that they will be gorgeous! When you have a second, take a look at the video again ... I share screenshots of the paint/products that I use. Let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂
They are beautiful. Very nice job. What was your base countertop? I have a solid surface like Corian. Does it work just as well on that? Also would love to know how they are holding up and any advice on maintenance and use of them, ie hot pans, cuts, chips etc...
Thank you so much! Our base is granite. I'm happy to report they are holding up really well, and, admittedly, I never place hot pans on them directly (I always place them on hot pads, trivets, etc).
Beautiful informative video. They are gorgeous and I'm inspired to try this! My current countertop is laminate. Do you think if I sand it and use all the same products it would work?
WOWWWW thanks for making this video. I’m gonna do this on my ugly countertops tomorrow. I feel better about it after watching your tutorial. also what paint color are your cabinets?? That green is so beautiful and to die for! I have to copy you! Thanks!
I am about to start your marble process. So excited. I just wanted to ask how long did you let them sit empty before using them again and decorating the counters. Thanks for the great videos to follow.
KATIE, if, by chance, you see this, PLEASE forgive me for not seeing your note until now. Did you paint your counters yet? If you haven't, don't be scared. Aside from making sure you prep your surface properly, there is no wrong way to create your veining. it's going to be beautiful! And, YES, if it goes south, just paint over it and start again.
I’m thinking of painting my bathroom granite countertop. I have ordered an electric sander, but still need to pick up the initial paint. What paint kit do you recommend?
I don’t have the Valspar clear mixing glaze but I do have the Valspar antiquing glaze, can i substitute that instead? what’s the difference between them two?
I don't know what epoxy you used originally but have read that if you use a heat gun or torch to knock down the bubbles that eventually that delayed reaction is what causes the yellowing down the road. I'm reluctant to use the polycrylic due to the streaking you mentioned (i think a foam roller will be better) but also not having the same durability as epoxy. thoughts?
Hey there! Unfortunately, no matter the method (heat torch or not), epoxy, mixed with white, is going to yellow over time (in my experience). Now, if you're going with darker colors, epoxy is amazing! I've been pleasantly surprised with the polyCRYLIC and have heard that I can use a heat gun to eliminate the streaks when it's drying. I'm going to remember that for next time.
Hi Lizette! Thank you so much ... knock on wood, it's been very durable ... totally pleased! I do have a little tiny scratch in a couple of places, but easy to touch up. I have another countertop that I'll do a video on soon.
I’m so impressed with your counters & the courage it takes to do a DIY project like this. I picture lots of those brown/black granite countertops changing over into a more updated look at a very reasonable cost.
Wanda, that means a lot to me. Thank you so much!!

Thank you!! I'm glad they're finally done, lol.

Hi Becca, I really enjoyed this process and think your counters look absolutely beautiful. Tfs. Donna xoxo
Hi Donna! Thank you so much!
Wow, so many steps !!! Beautiful job! You gotta be pleased with your results 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Marti, so true about the steps, but it wasn't as bad as it looks, lol! And thank you! Have a great weekend.
OMGosh!!! Absolutely perfect video!!! I do epoxy countertops, mine are also epoxy, and have yellowed, so I am redoing mine. It looks so good but what did you use for the white paint underneath? Is it regular paint? I'm trying to do this and trying to do it just like this
It turned out so beautiful!
I'm so glad you think so. Thank you!!
Nice work
Thanks so much!
I cant wait to see your bunny hopping at your home.
I'm so happy they're here!
That is so exciting!! I know that they are going to look fabulous, especially paired with your beautiful Knoxville Gray cabinets. Good luck!!
Beautiful 😍
Thank you so much!
Great job! Your countertops look fantastic!🤩
Thank you so much!!
Thank YOU
Thank YOU
Thank YOU
I use the Water Base Poly and everyone says use Epoxy...
I do NOT like the Smell of Epoxy and it does YELLOW.
This is a GREAT Video
Thank YOU for sharing this video... "BRAVA Darling... BRAVA"
Great job & great results. These was a huge project ~ I am sure you are THRILLED with the outcome. Cannot wait to seem them with spring decor! ~ Judy in NC
Thank you so much!! While they're far from perfect, I'm sooooo glad the yellow epoxy is gone, lol!
One more question, what kind of paints do you use?
Looks like apple barrel craft paint in country gray and Valspar clear mixing glaze
Rachel, that's fantastic! Good luck ... I know they will look fabulous. Let me know if you have any questions.
Hey Becca thank u for the information on the counter tops. Mine are similar to the same colors as yours were from the beginning but I think I going to go with a color close to concrete gray and paint my base white. I will be practicing in my small bathroom lol
Hi Anita! Have fun practicing ... you're going to love it!!
Thank u. Going to do my small bsthroom vanity.
I watched your first video & this looks beautiful!! I got nervous just watching you do this (lol) a lady with a lot of talent..tfs
Linda, lol, you and me BOTH!! I'm surprised my hand wasn't shaking! (and thank you!!!)
I have an old 70 yellow laminate countertop. Watching your video has inspired me to paint my countertop. What primer, paint and coating did you use originally for painting your countertop?
Also is it scratch resistant?
Thank you for this video! What color are your base cabinets?
Great work!! what do you recommend for a protective countertop coat?
Just followed this tutorial and loveeeee the look of my new countertops! Thank you SO much for sharing. Question: what products do you use to clean your countertops?
Hi Megan, thank you so much! I pretty much just use water OR a little bit of dish soap.
Curious how your countertops are holding up since using the polycrylic? Trying to decide between this or epoxy.
What paint did you use on the counter top?
Beautiful job 👏. Where did you get your clear mixing glaze? Thanks.
Thank you! It' from Lowe's!
Beautiful informative video. They are gorgeous and I'm inspired to try this! My current countertop is laminate. Do you think if I sand it and use all the same products it would work?
Lisa, thank you so much!! Yes, I don't see why it won't!! Let me know if you go for it!!
Can u do this method over laminate countertops?
WOWWWW thanks for making this video. I’m gonna do this on my ugly countertops tomorrow. I feel better about it after watching your tutorial. also what paint color are your cabinets?? That green is so beautiful and to die for! I have to copy you! Thanks!
Yay ... that's awesome! How's the project going? The green is SW Pewter Green.
I am about to start your marble process. So excited. I just wanted to ask how long did you let them sit empty before using them again and decorating the counters. Thanks for the great videos to follow.
I love that! I have to ask - are you going with the epoxy method or the revised polycrylic method that I recently shared?
@@AdventuresinDecoratingI will be using the polycrylic method. I’m too scared of the epoxy.
@ the polycrylic for sure.
Love this process. What would you recommend for a “made in” sink- one piece with countertop?
Thank you so much! As in painting the sink, as well?
@@AdventuresinDecorating - yes
I love the look of these counters but I’m really scared to try them on my counters. Do you think I could undo this project of it went south?
KATIE, if, by chance, you see this, PLEASE forgive me for not seeing your note until now. Did you paint your counters yet? If you haven't, don't be scared. Aside from making sure you prep your surface properly, there is no wrong way to create your veining. it's going to be beautiful! And, YES, if it goes south, just paint over it and start again.
This looks great. How is it holding up? How long did it take you in time to do this in total? Do you get water or food stains on this?
May you list all the products you used? I can’t wait to do mine, but I really want to make sure I used all the right stuff. This looks amazing!
Shannon,"tune in" next week if you can. I'm doing another countertop using the same process.
I’m thinking of painting my bathroom granite countertop. I have ordered an electric sander, but still need to pick up the initial paint. What paint kit do you recommend?
I didn't use a kit, but know of those who have with good results. Just make sure you use a really good bonding primer. What colors are you going with?
What color paint did you use for your lower cabinets? Love the green!
Thank you ... it's Sherwin Williams Pewter Green
I don’t have the Valspar clear mixing glaze but I do have the Valspar antiquing glaze, can i substitute that instead? what’s the difference between them two?
Hi! The difference is the clear glaze is just that, but I believe the antiquing glaze has a brownish tint.
Counters look amazing, is there a list of materials that you used, that you can share and the process?
Thank you much! There is another part of the video where I share it all (in my video tab).
Hi Becca, great job! Love this technique, quick question, how durable is the top coat you used versus the epoxy?
Thank you in advance! Liz
Hi Lizette! Thank you so much ... knock on wood, it's been very durable ... totally pleased! I do have a little tiny scratch in a couple of places, but easy to touch up. I have another countertop that I'll do a video on soon.
What grit sandpaper did you use with the hand sander?
in between coats? I'll be doing a one year review and painting another countertop in the same method in next week's video 🙂
Hi Becca! How is this new paint with polycrylic holding up?
Hey there! It's holding up really well (knock wood)!!
