    Here in 2024. Thank you so very much for this detailed, step by step process explaining the key parts of a faux marble finish and what tools and techniques to use.
    Your explanation makes so much more sense than the other videos I have seen. ❤🌹

    This video came at a perfect time for me. I was caregiver for both parents. My mom was last to pass almost three years ago and I have been really grieving these last few weeks. Really for the first time because I've been so busy. I came because I am really interested in faux and custom finishes. When you started talking about your mom passing it was like God reminding me he knows where I am and what I'm going through. My father was a Church of God pastor. And when you mentioned TN it was another nudge. I am so grateful. I laughed and cried. You showed me that you're a real person thats passionate about what you do and it really encouraged me. God bless you. I'm heading to Ace Hardware tomorrow for my products. I am really excited. I felt the shell crack tonight and I feel like I can make it. Thanks for being so sweet and vulnerable. It really made the difference for me. I will be praying for your Pops.

    I just used your technique and it's WONDERFUL. I didn't do the veining because I didn't have a feather and am quarantined right now, plus I was a bit afraid to ruin the whole piece that already looked so pretty. Thank you for making a boring time more fun! I do sell pieces here and there and painting really relaxes me. To a point. So many times at the end, I say "Why don't I..." and RUIN it. LOL. Oh, well. Start again.

      @@Fefe559 I used Giani countertop kit. I combined their paints with Amy glaze to create marble look. The Giani kit has 2 cans of unmixed epoxy which work perfectly.

    • @Fefe559
      @Fefe559 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@peteyc1705 but doesnt epoxy yellow? I did not use a kit as I am a artist and have so many paints... but I did use really good base colours, paint that is moisture resistant and nothing can bleed through, but its most white counter tops, the veins I did very light and soft with some warm gold tones in the veins. I just have no idea which product to use to seal my painting so it looks hard and a light sheen like stone. non yellowing. who knows. everyone does their veins in the epoxy and I dont like that look as much plus I needed more than a hour work time to make them look 100% real.

    Summary:
    7:31 foam roll two coats of white
    12:26 hit drag diagonally in one direction with natural sea wool sponge light grey scumble (1 part glazing liquid + 1 part light grey + 1 part water), you do not want to see the tool or the size of the tool
    13:32 soften into negative space with lintfree rag
    16:40 dab with sea sponge dark grey scumble (1 part glazing liquid + 1 part dark grey + 1 part water), leaving open spaces
    17:40 blend the edges with rag
    21:14 sponge brush white scumble (1 part white + 1 part glaze + 1 part water)
    22:28 dab randomly (not from left to right) with lintfree rag to create organic stone look
    26:59 draw veins with dark scumble (3 part water + 1 part glaze + 1 part dark paint) with turkey feather. Laying down and lifting up feather, no snake action
    30:28 dab veins with chipping brush to make them less pronounced
    31:15 when dry, sponge brush white scumble and dab with rag

    WOW!!! I am so glad I found you. I have an artist friend, in Las Vegas, who can match any marble or stone, and he uses this technique for the most part. Sad thing, I lost contact with him, but like you said, if you can master this with the layers, you can do so many other colors and ways. I myself work with epoxy, mostly doing countertops, tabletops and now starting in on shower surrounds and feature walls. I wanted to mimic this certain piece of stone, and have had the hardest time in doing it. Thank you for your kindness in sharing all your artistic skills and knowledge with the rest of us. I am now going to stalk all your videos and then go and play and put it to work. One question, could you take your turkey feature and put two different colors on it? I am trying to get the effect of about a 1 inch tube like vein, with spaces and different shades (such as yours), ever so lightly of the same color in it (I wish I could show you a picture). Thanks again, for sharing so much of you with us, I thoroughly just loved this.

      I have elderly parents, that are in there 90's, we live in different states, however for the last few years, I have had the privilege of staying with them to help take care of things. They still live on the Dairy Farm, even though it is no longer a working farm, there is alot to keeping the place up, along with all the day to day things. I treasure my parents as well, and feel I am so fortunate to still have them, they think all I do is work, I say "I am the lucky one that gets to spend all the time with them." I am so sorry for your heartache, I know that will come one day, and I just cant imagine the day without either one of them, but I am not going to dwell on that day...and enjoy today. Thank you for sharing your heart with us.

    Lengthen open time = work time
    Negative space = no paint
    Negative tool = use dry side of rag
    Ballet white = white
    Good man is hard to find = light grey
    Lux grey = dark grey
    Scumble = watery paint
    Organically = random dabbing
    Sheer = even more watery paint
    Offload = dab paint off your brush

    Firstly, my sympathies for ur loss; I too lost my parents recently, the pain subsides, the sense of loss remains.
    I so enjoyed ur video on “TH-cam”. I’m just starting to refurbish furniture. I watched numerous vids for beginners, although I’m familiar with working with furniture…anyway
    I’m interested in a “black base” marble “look” with a gold blend rather than the white.
    Thoughts?

    Just tried this technique on my kitchen counters. 10/10 would recommend. I used a few colors of inexpensive acrylic paint (79cents per bottle) and mod podge instead of glazing medium. The ratios remained the same, and the white wash step really does add dimension. I ended up doing 2 more white washes at the end because I wanted a very white counter, and then a layer of iridescent pain and some mica flakes on top. Now to spend the next week applying layers of sealer to make it extra glossy! lol

    Such a beautiful lady inside and out. Great work and thanks for showing it in such a simple manner.
    After years of construction work in various trades and surface treatments ( paint, texture, wallpaper, etc. ) my preferred areas are carpentry and faux finishes and this work can marry the two. You make it look easier than it actually is; without an artistic inclination to know when and how to connect the components one will always struggle to make it look natural. It definitely is not a paint by numbers task. I'll subscribe and search for more of your videos

    Love your work! The story of the Spanish moss and cattails made me laugh, as well as leak some tears at the same time. Really creative! God Bless

    I found this one today. I'm so sorry for the loss of your mother. Praying for you and your family.
    Regarding this process, I have an old armoire of my daughters that we are painting (French Blue). I thought about buying a piece of real marble to turn it into a coffee bar.
    But after seeing you do this, I believe I will but a piece of masonite board and create a faux marble instead!!!! Thank you for filming this. You're such a blessing. #madforcattails

    Stunning, the thumbs down must have been from people that didn't watch the whole video! This is definitely the best I have seen. I've done something similar in my bathroom, but I may re-do it after seeing this. This technique is amazing. You Are a true artist. I've watched tons of people and have to say, this is the first time I have truly been impressed.

    Question for you. My counter top looks great with the 2 scrumbles. When I went to white wash it, all the paint layers came up. Any advice would be grateful. Maybe they were not dry enough? THank you! This video was exceptional!

    Hi Amy my white marble look counter came out nicely. However, I was surprised that it stains with coffee, tea and mustard!
    I used minwax water based polyurethane on top. Is there another product that won't stain?

    I'm not a fan of the darker colors, so I assume I could use less of the dark colors or more of the white? How does this hold up? I'm looking at doing this technique on my butcher block.

    Amy I am new to your blog and I have gotten so touched by your words and I do have to say that I am so sorry for your loss. Time will help mourning and healing. I have lost my husband, mom, and dad 11 years ago and in the same year...all my strength and life were gone at that time. With my loss, I have found that life can be beautiful again because of the memories we can embrace from the loved ones that are not with us physically but in our hearts! I wish from the bottom of my heart that the love and memories of your beloved mom will fullfill your sadness and help you to go on. I am using the art to brighten my days and learning techniques with you! ---@

    I am so happy to stumble upon your video. How ironic that I lost my mother one week ago today. The pain is still raw and I was touched by your words. I guess it was meant to be. Well- you have a new follower. I love your instruction. 💛TY

    I know this is an older video but I am about to use this technique. I am hoping someone can tell me what the sealer is and what the wax is? I have no idea what to buy? I have also seen another video that only used wax and did not apply a sealer first. Is the sealer necessary?
