I'll confirm the vigour of Abutilon 'Patrick Synge'. I grow it through a large Acca sellowiana tree in my Plymouth garden where it can produce the odd flower year round and in abundance in the summer months, popping out at all levels of the 20ft tree. I also think your yellow Abutilon is 'Canary Bird'. In 'Waltz' the petals don't overlap quite as much. I've just lost mine in last winter's storms, ripped off my house wall. A shame, as, at about 12ft and smothered in bloom during the summer and autumn, it did make an impressive sight.
That's such a lovely garden you have! With all the flowers and scents I can imagine the pollinators love it too! I have managed to overwinter a pink abutilon outdoors in my garden without protection in zone 6-7 in NC, USA. It has survived two winters planted into the clay soil. This year however we had a terrible freeze with temperatures down to -18 C, so I am expecting that it didn't make it. I will wait and see of course, they are a bit late to start when they grow in the soil compared to overwintering in a pot indoors.
Great video Craig. Been watching your channel since the start. Inspired me to grow my own tropical bed. Want to get more flowers now ive watched this. Thank you.
I just want to comment to thank you for sharing your garden. I just love to watch your garden grow. Gardeners are my favorite people and There is always so many new things to learn from each other. I garden and make gardening videos too if you'd ever want to visit my garden I’d love to have you! Let’s learn more from each other as we grow!
Great video as always. The one major change I want to make to my garden is to introduce more flowers. I started tropical style gardening for the foliage, probably like yourself. But flowers are the icing on the cake for me. Absolutely no reason not to have both foliage and beautiful flowers also. At the moment I have a number of largish Canna's which flower, but I really want something for the front of the borders.
Hi craig , please could you tell me what low growing hardy subtropical plants you can plant in a very sunny border . I’ve done my shady borders with hostess heauchera etc but I’m stumped to think of something foliage that would suit the full sun
Amazing detail in this video. I’m like you I like the leaves and green but it seems barren trying to work on more color especially in my shade portion of the garden
Brilliant video Craig , I will certainly look out for those plants . I love the blue iochroma , I’d love to get one. Of those , is it a hardy plant ? Or would it need to go in the greenhouse ? , Thankyou , best wishes xSylvie
We have an Indian been tree in a pot we bought, changed our mind so trying to sell it. Just not sure it works in our garden, they grow huge and it’s already 8’ in its pot as is. I think we had in our head they’d not grow as big as they eventually do but it’s a lesson learnt for us and since then we’ve made sure we look at the growing habits better. It was kinda pushed on to us by someone as a ‘must have’ so that’s the excuse. It is lovely though to be fair.
When I travel to the tropics my biggest disappointments are: 1 SAME PLANTS all over the world. Why when there are so many more tropicals than temperates. 2. NO FLOWERS Usually they all rely on foliage. Very uncreative
Soooo beautiful!!!🥰✨🧚
ステキ!!😁💕

Your best little film yet Craig , I’ve grown more flowering plants this year and as usual the plants I purchase from you have been marvellous.

It's great to hear that the Abutilon survived in clay soil. Maybe I will try planting a few of mine out this summer 😁
I've just come across Yr page and I'm loving it. I'm a new gardener and am just starting to plant my tropical style garden. Thank you 😊

I think you can pollard these and keep them small, but with big leaves. Have a look at one of Craig’s earlier videos about trees to grow.
@@lauraclark8123 Ooo ok thank you, that’d be good if we can. I’ll have a look, thank you 👍🏼
Have you ever tried Hibiscus moscheutos? Is it possible to get it to flower in the UK or better to stick with syriacus?
Do you keep your bromeliads out all year round?
