You guys have totally missed the point of this challenge. He has ALWAYS said it's not a fitness challenge. It's about mental toughness and discipline. Making small changes won't work for anyone if they don't have the discipline to sustain those habits.

    • @annesummers2522

Saying 75 Hard is not a fitness challenge is like Trump saying he isn't a politician. Some people eat it up but you are still required to take progress pics everyday.

    • @counterfeit4450
      @counterfeit4450 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@annesummers2522The purpose is to build discipline and mental toughness, and it’s tough to do that without some physical aspect.
It’s like boot camp. You’re trying to break down bad habits and form good ones. Get some organization.
Taking a progress pic is so you can see the results of your hard work and discipline.
For me, I have a food addiction and I’m doing this to build my discipline and keep myself from over indulging all the time like I have for years.
Hopefully I lose weight but that’s not my main focus right now. My main focus is shifting my mindset and growing discipline like a muscle so I have more control over my decisions and my life.
Does that make any semblance of sense?

Hey Fellas. I think you guys are missing the point of 75 hard. 75 hard is not a fitness program. It's meant to be a mental challenge. It does have a physical element to it but that's only because it's meant to build up mental toughness and it's pretty hard to do that without a physical element to it. I did it and went into it wanting the mental benefits. I didn't set any weight loss goals. I figured I could lose weight later after I got my mind right. After finishing it, I feel like it was life changing mentally. But I did lose 23 pounds as a side benefit.

Exactly. You’re correct. These dudes are missing the point. I look at the challenge like a military boot camp. It creates discipline and mental toughness. The fitness aspect is just one part of it. And the program I’ve done doesn’t include cold showers and acts of kindness. It’s 1. Follow a diet program, 2. Workout 2x a day (one outdoors), 3. Drink a gallon of water, 4. Read 10 pages a day of non fiction, and 5. Take a daily progress pic. It’s so simple but the benefits are incredible.

@@jg8799 Who said that? The point of the program is to build discipline and mental toughness, qualities that will serve you going forward. Research shows it takes an average of 66 days to form a long term habit. So hopefully eating healthy, exercising, drinking adequate water, and reading for learning. all become lifelong habits afterwards. All good things. Doesn't mean you have to do them exactly per the program once it ends, but hopefully they'll be habits that the person continues doing on a regular basis.

As someone who has been lifting for 15 years and someone who has completed 75 hard, it is not sustainable. But that’s not the purpose of the challenge. The purpose of 75 hard is to develop mental toughness by completing each task mentioned...doing shit u don’t wanna do, saying no to drinking with your friends, leaving a party early to go run outdoors, reading on my lunch break when I don’t want to, or taking down that last chicken and broccoli at 1am...75 hard CHALLENGE makes u realize what’s important and what isn’t. Getting shredded or huge and a bi-product, but as for an overall lifestyle I would not recommend

Whoa talk about not doing any actual research. The rules he read that include the random acts of kindness and cold showers and then called it “weird” isn’t even 75 Hard, its one of the later phases. And this isn’t a fitness challenge at all. Sigh, sucks to see it get a whole different representation than what it is and even sadder on Mind Pump which I love.

First of all, I absolutely love you guys. You are all incredibly knowledgeable and I gain incredible value from you. I’m currently doing the 75 hard program, and couldn’t help but feel as though the program is slightly misrepresented in this segment. The program isn’t advertised for getting “back into shape”, moreso a mental toughness challenge to take your discipline and determination to the next level. It is not a sustainable lifestyle at all, however for a short time you can push your body to levels that are uncomfortable, and the byproduct of that for your mental strength is the desired outcome of the program, in my eyes. There is a difference b/t the 75 Hard challenge and the additional phases that are to follow that can be done throughout the year in which you started the initial challenge. Trendy? Yes. Popular? Yes. Misinterpreted by people on social media who see this as a quick fix to all their problems? I think so.

And I’d be willing bet that some that does 75 hard then goes on to a more simple workout and diet routine that isn’t is as strict would have far better long term results than one who didn’t complete 75 hard.

If it helps people to kick off a habit, then I see nothing wrong with it...that “hey if it works for them, great but...” mentality is a cop out. I’d postulate that this tossaway response can be just as applicable to the “make small changes for maximum results” crowd. And why criticize anything that creates momentum? Some people need to be told what to do and crave the structure. As the old saying goes: “There are many train routes to Chicago”. You are just as likely to fail on ANY program you try...For example, AA has a 5% success rate, yet it’s still better than 0%. Perhaps many will return to old habits. Perhaps many will fail. But SOME will succeed. And guess what, that’s true NO MATTER HOW you approach fitness... Fad or no fad.

I think the point being missed is that people, like me, tend to overthink that we don’t have time or the discipline to do this. Now that I’ve been doing it for a few weeks - I’m realizing I do have time for more than I thought with my busy schedule. Will I work out twice a day? Maybe. Not every day. But the idea is that I do have this discipline. Regardless if I fail or not. Everyone up there already has that discipline so this is a foreign idea. I will definitely carry these habits going forward - not to a T. But if I work out most every day for 45 minutes - I will see results.

I think its a great, easy plan FOR, people who have actually been in good shape and knew what it took to get there. This strict, 2 and a half month program will more than likely get them to the *close enough to how they remember feeling to want to keep going, comfortably. The only thing this is missing is something like "75 Tailored days".. they spent 5 bucks, are happy with the results, know they want more but still havnt releashed the beast. So, the dieting stays strict but adds caveats like protien goals etc. instead of just workout 45min x 2 a day.. Make it hill sprints for 45 min and compound lifts for 75 more days. then don leave them hanging.. give them two options, retain or push forward for 75 even fuckin harder days.

I was super interested in what the guys had to say about this before I start. I’m puzzled that they didn’t spend any time checking this out. I’m over here trying to figure out how many calories to consume to not lose weight, playing with sustainable double workouts to not lose weight. Playing with ideas to get in the gallon of water. These jokers who I wanted a real answer on copped out. Your right no one is power lifting 45 min twice a day for 75 days straight but many many ppl workout twice a day in this format with 60% of 1 rep max and light cardio sessions of walking/jogging/bike. This is more about discipline. Doing things day in and day out to improve so that after the challenge you step up into growing your business, building a better family dynamic, starting a non profit- all the things that take discipline day in and day out. I’ll let you know how I do and if I ballon to 300lb afterwards. Lol

All the proponents keep saying but it's a "mental toughness" program, not a fitness or diet program. Hmmm, all of its components are based on fitness and diet and then you glam yourself with a picture.
There are better ways to mental toughness: join the military & serve your country, be a first responder, be a Doctor and serve the community, be a teacher (and try and teach this new woke & cancel culture generation), train and run a marathon, train for and do some alpine climbing, train to be a boxer or a bodybuilder. These are but a few examples.
This program is rationalized by saying it is about mental toughness, but in the end it is a poor example of it. Sure it may work in the short term for a few, but like the video stated, it is unsustainable and not healthy for most to try. It is interesting how some people jump on a fad and defend it to an extremist type of viewpoint when there is no scientific research to back it up.

Kind of like in the way when people say, “nO iTs NoT a DiEt ItS a LiFsTyLe” so they say mental challenge, but it comes off to them as a typical 30, 60, or 90 day fitness type challenge. Should they have done more research, yes, 100%. Did they make some good points, also yes. Some people fall flat on their face or gain all the weight when they do challenges like this, but not EVERYONE. Some find success. Life changing success and this challenge for them is like a “Kick Start” to them. So like with everything, there’s usually gonna be pros and cons. The level of ignorance from Sal and Justin on this subject is mind blowing. They admit to having zero idea what the 75 Hard program is, yet grace us all with their uneducated opinion of it. If they all spent any time trying to learn just a little bit about the program, they would realize it has nothing to do with fitness, just like it has nothing to do with improving your diet, or learning to read, or anything else that you are required to do. It's about making a commitment, and having the discipline to follow through on said commitment. Do you end up eating better? Probably. Do you end up learning new things through reading 10 pages a day? Yes. Is it a reading challenge? No. Do you end up getting in better shape? Yes. Not because you kill two crazy workouts each day, but because you schedule two 45 minute workouts, of any level of physical activity you choose, but you have to show up and do it. That's the challenge. Not to get in shape, but that's what happens when you show up each day. Open your mind and come out of the echo chamber fellas!

I think that this challenge was the worst thing I could of done. I'm active love going to lift and do it 4 to 5 days a week and keep a good diet, meal prep...etc. never had urges to binge eat candy or chips, now suddenly I'm grabbing these foods when I never did much at all before. 75 days no chips or chocolate or sugar (except fruit or a decent protein bar) did not seem bad but as soon as I got off (2 weeks ago)....I noticed shitty behaviors I've never seen before. Fhe alcohol was nothing for me cause I do not consume much usually
...and didn't want to then and would rather have the food calories then booze calories but thats just me...The workouts weren't bad (the outdoor sucked In the snow or rain and damp wind and with a massive foot injury) And I did it every freaking day but I think that this is a bad strategy...I was moreso trying to do the mental challenge then the weight loss.but the weight loss happened. Now candy and chips is what I'm constantly wanting. If it helped others om.glad but this can create binge type tendencies after (and I've never had that) so if you do it and be careful afterwards......did anyone else go through this or am I just a lost soul here with this one haha...this was posted over a year ago I hope someone sees it..💪😉 and the 2 workouts
.the 2nd would.often be late night...there's gotta be a better way. But I guess if it helps someone then to may not have the intrinsic motivation then AWESOME
THE BOOK was great and it was definitely an experience.

Yes! Thanks for covering this. I have been listening to you all for about a year and I love how you all speak the truth. When I came across this 75 hard program I knew it was BS. It's not sustainable longterm. Adam you nailed it when you said it prompts getting off and on the bandwagon. I am someone who was obese and lost 95 lbs and been sustaining it for almost 2 years. There is no way I would do this challenge it doesn't help to create the longterm habits needed to make fitness a lifestyle. There's no way I could do two 45 minute workouts everyday that the 75 hard program calls for everyday longterm lol. I love excerise but that's just not sustainable. I can see people burning out really quickly from this.

Lol. What do you mean not sustainable? How is sticking to a diet, hydrating yourself and moving your body 45 mins x 2 a day not sustainable? Ridiculous.

@Anthony you're entitled to your opinion. I could do it if I wanted to. I was part of the 1% of the population who served in the military, so thank you very much. 75 hard isn't shit. But it's not sustainable longterm. As someone who was former obese that approach wouldn't have worked. So I could careless about doing it. If you want to do the 75 hard challenge by all means have at it. Great for you! But don't sit there on your computer screen judging people on what they can and can't do. Have a nice day! 😁

@@seaeff6428 because people have a life! They have children and jobs. All that is needed is like 2 to 3 days of strength training and walking. The average person can't sustain 2x 45 minute workouts a day for the rest of their lives while juggling daily life. Besides to be healthy it's 80% diet and 20% excerise. No one needs no damn 2x 45 minute workout to be healthy. I sustain 20% BF at 2800 cals maintenance doing strength training 4x a week and no cardio! Just walking throughout the day. I don't need 75 hard or can careless about it. Have a wonderful day! 😊

@@wilmariekeene8995 The average person in the United States spends 3.5 hours a day on a screen for entertainment. 1.5 hours a day out 24 hours is nothing. It’s not hard to time block your life and figure it out. Literally everything said it just an excuse. I did 75 hard over summer, working 50-60 hours a week, with tons of shit on my plate. I typically did my outdoor workout either first thing in the morning on my lunch break and indoor around 11-12 pm everyday. It’s absolutely sustainable for anyone that wants to do it. If you don’t want to then don’t, but I am going to sit here and judge.
