    Hey everyone - yes we are reposting this video. We had a small error in the video we originally published and felt it best to correct and upload rather than leaving factually incorrect information out in the world. So if you already watched this video and are watching it again, thank you! If this is your first time, we hope you enjoy!

    A tip for you regarding steering feel. If you add integral active steering (four wheel steering) it will enhance agility and turning circle. I added it to mine and I highly recommend it.

    I’ve picked up a X5 40i, and I completely agree on the steering. If it had air suspension standard, it might help. If steering was my main focus, I’d look at the Porsche cayenne but a lot more expensive and not as well equipped standard.

      Eh, honestly, a lot of this tech you can find in older BMWs.
      I have an 04 X5 and there is some areas in the boot that are the same. I also have a couple of G30 5ers, from 2016 & 2017, and there is remarkable similarities!
      The front cup holders/charger/usb ports, the seats. The tech, save for the larger screen, is all the same. Which is all stuff you could also get on the original G05, which are now going for as low as $50K.
      The adaptive cruise control is also far more user friendly because there is no need to dig through the screen to adjust certain settings.
      I could be wrong, because there was no movement of the X5 during the camera usage, but some of the functions of the camera which makes BMWS camera system fantastic, have been removed from the G05 LCI.

    I"ve had mine for a week. I agree about the steering, a bit light, especially in comfort mode. I was going to say I have no complaints except one:: The window washer fluid dispenser is so strong you can hit the third car behind you! I mean some of it does get on the windscreen too.

    @CarExpertAus The X5 40i or the 30D. The diesel has so much more torque and is also extremely smooth, costs about $5k less and has a much better fuel efficiency.

    Rims & runflat tyres on these are apparently a huge expense to replace & I gather that's regardless of wheel size. I had a friend that recently destroyed a runflat & Rim on his X5 . Hit a pothole in central QLD & had to wait over 7 days for a new Rim & tyre to be trucked to Cunnamulla from Brisbane . Costing over $6500 . But I gather that some of that cost would be freight cost as well. Not cheap

    • @jegerm6752
      @jegerm6752 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I ditched my runflats for normal tyres. Car rides much better with normal tyres and it reduces unsprung weight too. Granted my car is a 2010 model, so maybe newer runflats are better. I have a portable pump, tyre patch kit and a small bottle of soapy water and sponge in the trunk. Yes it’s not convenient, but it’s very, very rare to have a flat tyre. I used to have one of those fix a flat foam thing, but I heard it’s bad for tyres.

    • @antonilavin2488
      @antonilavin2488 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That has nothing to do with the fact that it’s a run flat tyre on the rim. It’s the rim that would’ve cost the majority of that money. I’ve had run flats on my BMWs and my wife’s Minis for 20 years. I get over 60,000 km out of the Bridgestone Potenza S001 run flats on my BMW. Their performances is brilliant plus when I get a puncture (and I’ve had about five between the two of us over 20 years) are been to drive the car home and then drive it down to BMW the next day to get it repaired or replaced. Bridgestone run flats are repairable and I’ve only once had to have the tire replaced because the puncture was in the sidewall. If it was a normal tire, puncture in the sidewall you’ve got to replace it.
      I think most of the people that criticise run flats are just justifying their decision to ditch them and put normal tyres on because they can’t afford the extra expense of the runflats.
      My wife has never changed a tire in her life and never will. It’s great peace of mind knowing that if she gets it flat on the way home she can just slow down and keep driving. We live about 100 km from Brisbane in a rural area and often driving at night on the highway.
      Cars that have run flats as standard equipment have the suspension tuned for the run flats my BMW and her mini ride beautifully on these tyres. BMW has adaptive suspension and it rides like a limousine in comfort mode.

    • @jegerm6752
      @jegerm6752 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@antonilavin2488 i had the potenza RE050 RFT on my car. Yes it’s repairable and it’s convenient when you have a flat, but they really are much stiffer than normal tyres. I can feel how much more compliant the car is with normal tyres. I can feel all the highway joints with the runflats. Too harsh and noisy for my liking. Replacement tyres are michelin pilot super sport, which are max performance summer tyres, yet they’re a lot more comfortable. Fuel economy also improves marginally. I ditched my runflats after only a year, with about 70% tread left, so that decision wasn’t financially driven. I have no experience with the potenza S001 RFT. It may be much better than the RE050 I had on my car. And I’m sure newer RFTs have been hugely improved.

      At the risk of pointing out the obvious, an X5 on low profile tyres in Cunnamulla is always high risk for damage and delays on a trip, and very expensive repairs. A boring Toyota is the go for that.

It's as big as an X5 used to be, just way cheaper. You can get the 620Nm turbo diesel in both. Being 300Kg lighter, X3 has lower fuel consumption and sharper handling.
