Stephanie same. I want to draw but One: nobody asks me to draw, and my brain just can't bring me to draw if noone asks for it Two: I'm unsatisfied with myself. I draw too slow, I'm unmotivated in literally EVERYTHING, like whatever I do, it's never enough. It sucks. :/
Cloe Bamba, well, I don't go to regular school. Where I go they don't teach anatomy, or mutch drawing at all, bc we only go from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The anatomy in videos confuse me, and it's hard for me to under stand them.

i used to be the best artist in my school, then i lost my courage. i didnt involve myself with art for 5 months and after that, i tried to come back but completely lost it. i tried to draw, but i couldn’t draw anything. i imagine an image and i draw it in my head, its great, but then when i try to draw it, i started drawing then it just didnt work, it all just became some 5 year olds little drawing. i got it rushed and it looked nothing like what i wanted. i became lazy and didnt do it no matter how hard i pushed myself i was just so lazy and discouraged i couldnt complete the drawing. i ended up completing it by rushing it and drawing stickmen. i still have this problem and it only gets worse, whenever i try to use these stuff that she recommended it just makes it worse so i just gave up drawing, even though its my favorite hobby.
Being art blocked is a great time to work on fundamentals. I've found the largest part of my art block is when I am noticing my art isn't coming out as well as I'd hope. Looking up tutorials or how-to guides are nice because you don't have to come up with ideas, leaving your brain more energy to learn and re-evaluate how to get some nice looking results. If your art block results from seeing "bad" work, doing studies and honing your skills is helpful! I completely relate to the big life changes = art block. Our minds need time to process huge shifts in our lifestyle or environment, which means adding the critical element of art making can just not WORK when we are overwhelmed with new situations.
StarStar Party Often when I have art block, I practice a little bit of the fundamentals, then force my way through a drawing. Often this is when I have a major style shift, or the quality of my art majorly improves.
Love your Sketches and art block is a tricky subject. One needs to very honest with themselves whether they really need to take a break or just push through the block. You summed it up really well :)
I stopped drawing completely when we ran away from our abusive step-dad. It took me about 10 years to start drawing again, I obviously had to really make myself draw a bit every day. In the past couple years I improved quite a lot and always try to just do something, it doesn't have to be a masterpiece. 😌
A lot of artist I meet, I feel like a lot of their excitement for drawing is being forced. Growing up, I've always loved drawing and was fortunate enough to also be pretty decent at it. Anyway my point is, art for me is a freeing medium, just something to express myself through. I never forced myself to draw if I didn't feel like it nor did I ever feel the need to, I just did it whenever I felt like it. Art should be freeing, not a restraint!
this really opened my eyes. i’ve always felt as though i needed to constantly draw or i would lose my skills and become bad at it. i realize how unhealthy that is. keeping that constant pressure on myself like that
me too honestly I have been on a artblock for almost a year and I see other young artists around the same age as me have very good art and mines is not as nearly as good as theirs but I don't know anymore I used to love drawing but I need to let go and know that it is not a chore and work at my own pace
When I first finish my artwork I am really satisfied with it but after looking closely I see all the imperfections and I hate it. I either crumble up my paper and throw it away or just put it somewhere so I don’t have to look at it.
Maybe just maybe you’re a perfectionist. Gotta learn to see the bigger picture quite literally lol. And don’t worry I suffer from it too so I’m by no means better at not doing that lol but I’m sure you’re literally your worst critic
Hi Kasey! I think your channel has inspired me so much!!! And you know it because in England we only use exclamation marks when we are truly thankful 😂
I've been going through this for the past year due to the pandemic. Between dealing with the lockdown and working a full-time job, I find very little breathing room to focus on art. I miss being creative and this video helped me. Thank you.
I've been trying to make my own cartoon characters. But it is so hard to redraw the same character over and over again and make them look alike, it is also hard to even create new ones. So my question is, how were you able to create your own characters? ... If that makes any sense
I have the same problem, but I think I've solved mine. All I've done is... So I draw the character, and then look at it and try to make it as close as the original as possible. Then I would do the same thing but with different expressions. Keep doing that for a couple of days and your hand will know what you're trying to draw. After I tried doing some new poses. I draw cartoon comics I guess, and that's what I've been doing. Sometimes my hand gets tired of drawing the same thing over and over, but you just got to push yourself and play around. You'll get it. Don't give up! 😊
Franchesca's Life thank you so much, I'm going to try this method out, hopefully it works for me because I have so many comic ideas but never have the confidence to draw them 😊
Tkeyah Windrom your welcome! If this helps, my art style is kind of just little mini chibi people with round hands and black eyes, I don't really take the time to use color. For coloring, I just try and make some parts of the characters black. (Not trying to be racist) Youll get better in drawing, I promise! Just keep practicing! 😊
Tkeyah Windrom also if you run out of comic ideas, what I do is try to think of something funny that happened to my life, or take a little inspiration from already made comics from other people
Franchesca's Life I've also been drawing chibi characters in my comics because I find it so much easier to draw their little bodies lol and their hands are soooooo easy to draw
Hhhh, I have been in an art block for over a year, and I found your account and it inspired me so much and now I've started drawing again! You really helped me out 💕
WOW this came out at a great time for me as I have been struggling with art block lately! Are you psychic? Haha, I also just binged all of your videos and was waiting for the new vid to come out! Also I can’t wait for the next prompt!
Thanks a lot! I really needed this today after 6 months of art block 😣 recently moved to a new country, working hard, don’t have a work desk and have a messy room. 💯 relatable
I have this weird thing where I get frustrated because my drawing doesn’t look like the referencing picture and then I give up and call it a day. Then few months later I pick up a pencil and actually start drawing the reference picture correctly and Then it repeats.
Thanks! This is a really informative video, despite being a few years old. I’ve been experiencing art block for around 3 months now (I know, too long) and this video has actually helped!
When it comes to Art block, it takes stability and patience. But when *I* have art block, I just sit on the couch watching whatever's on Netflix 'till I finally have the strength to draw xD
Here's something about artblock. When you're stressed, you can't do anything and if you try it ends up being bad. And noticing that you have an artblock going on can easily lead to more and more stress. So instead of battling the artblock, try your best to get rid of the stress. Do whatever you feel like doing, even if it's nothing, and get back to art once you feel like it.

I had art block for two and a half months, the video did help in a sense by letting me explore what i could do, i tried to just go from simple drawings and build my way up in detail. It worked. Thank you for the vid nonetheless!
This is literally my 9th month of artblock, i've been working on lots of sketches from time to time but none have been done fully. And so, i felt like i really can't draw anything due to this. I started reading and analizing webtoons, mangas, and other works and re-learning all the fundamentals to creating characters. It worked out a little, i tried sketching a short comic even though its not good. Hopefully i can be free of this monster very soon, Peace! 😚
I like to watch channels like these to get my creativity flowing when im in art block BTW THANK YOU!!! I have no idea how i stumbbled apon this channel but u have changed my life! I love your art style and i changed mine a bit to be a bit more like urs. I love your work and keep doing you!
For me to get out of art block is to watch someone else draw ( like speed art and stuff ). I feel like I'm not the only one here but just watching someone draw just fills my mind with ideas and creativity.i thought I'd just point that out caz that really helped me
That's when you go for her last tip and just do it! Go! Draw literally anything at all! I've had stretches like that and every time I returned I felt reenergized by simply drawing, even if I didn't think I wanted to.
It's not the same but I as a hobby creative writer have been struggling with write block for a couple of weeks. Now I'm motivated again, to try new things out and just get myself to write, maybe with some goals to meet. Thank you so much!!
Well this explains everything. When I was in 6th grade, life was good. New friends, I loved UnderTale, and I loved drawing, no matter what. But when 7th grade started, I was diagnosed with Depression and PTSD. I had no inspiration, didn't want to draw, and eventually stopped drawing in general. I want to get back into drawing, seeing how I have art class this year.. This was helpful.
Great tips. I have been struggling with an art block for a while. Stress is really a big factor that can affect you. So I have not picked up a pencil for a year plus and now only getting back into it.
I have never thought of it as art block. Since I was very little art would come and go. I might draw for six months straight, every day, and then weeks or months will go by where I don't draw. So it's always been my normal. For a fix: sometimes just buying a new pen or some fresh paper can help. Maybe a new lamp or moving your art space. Sometimes just looking at old drawings will get it going, or visiting an art gallery, or looking at art online. Good luck to everyone 🖐👁👁
I have artist block and honestly it feels like the end of the world because if you’re an artist who posts stuff mainly on social media you’re like “omg what if I lose followers if I’m not active” “what if people don’t like my art anymore because of these blocks” so yeah artist block can suck for a few of us but the least we can do is to try to push ourselves :’)
I’m having art block now for like a more than a month , and I’m completely free all this time and past . I think I am having it form seeing others draw impulsively and creating AMAZING artworks , and me trying to draw a face and messing up . People around me keep asking why I am not drawing anything, every time I get asked that question I feel like I want to cry . It is so freaking frustrating
Sometimes it's your lack of confidence and self esteem in yourself, we can be our own worst enemies at times because we have high expectations for ourselves...but we have to learn not to be so hard on ourselves I'm just rebuilding my art career from the bottom after going through some personal struggles I feel like giving up sometimes but it's all I've ever known and I know this time I'll come back stronger 💯💯💯
I've had an art block for about 3 years, now. It's really painful. And it spans ALL of my art forms: writing, scripting, jewelry, drawing/painting and wood burning. Sewing or crocheting (which is more my mom's thing) aren't really an option. I'm REALLY bad at it. It would just stress me out more. I have tried pushing through it. Tried ignoring it. Tried working with/around it.... Nothing works. It just adds to my depression.... I know mostly WHY I am blocked. But I haven't figured out how to get around it. Anyway- your video was ok. It just doesn't seem to have given me ideas to work around it. But thank you, anyway.
Ughhhh I’m binge watching art block videos rn cus I get rlly grumpy during art block and just now all my friends have ditched me on calls so I cant do anything. So now I’m crying in my bed wanting to drawwwww. Thanks for the video I think it’ll help.
Art is making something that wasn’t there before. If you doodle on a piece of paper that’s art, if you make a 10m sculpture that’s art, if you sing, dance or cook that’s art. Art is in our blood and we don’t need to fear it. I am an artist helping guide people into a creativity they are comfortable with, in my case watercolour and pencil painting, and my channel is doing well as people discover the value of just doing it. No judgment, just make something.
I tend to make my best works when i push through my art block .At the time i hate how it starts turning out. i hate it after its complete.. but after a week or so i look at it again .. and it magically looks really good..
Usually, people say when you get block you should force yourself to draw, I like to just focus on something else than drawing cause to me, the more I force myself to draw, the more block I get. I totally agree with you about art block.
Pushing can be good but it can be bad too so always take care of urself, I have noticed this over the last year of trying to focus on my ArtWork and on TH-cam it's a lot of work and some times things don't work in my favor but at least I am trying, but I am learning to listen to my body AND mind, and when I am unsure what to draw I always know I can ask my kids lol good video keep it up
I’m a digital painter, most of me pieces take around 5-8 hours to complete. This isn’t a huge problem because I tend to have lots of free time (I don’t have friends :)) but late last year I started sharing my art on social media. I managed to gain 70k+ followers on tiktok, and most of them expect a new painting or something every few days. Honestly the the expectation of having to have a new art piece art stresses me out. Lately, I’ve been trying to rush and get stuff done, which is making the art come out bad and make me even for stressed. Last week was especially hectic, so this week I kinda just want to take a long relaxing break, and hopefully I’ll be back up on my feet next week.
One time I thought that's had art block and so I drew myself drawing. "What a waist of time." I thought. But now I'm like, no way! I didn't even have art block in the first place I was just trying to think of somthing complicated to draw and I drew something simple, so yes, I drew me drawing. Now I still have that drawing and look at it when I have art block and I'm just like, "lets do this." Thanks for this video kaysey! Also I love the art block cartoon
Stop looking at art as a chore and remember that you're doing this for fun 🙂

@kris palko some how when I take a break from drawing like months after, I get good drawing results but when I'm drawing constantly I produce crap lol

Gretchen Hager hi there

For me to get out of art block is to watch someone else draw ( like speed art and stuff ). I feel like I'm not the only one here but just watching someone draw just fills my mind with ideas and creativity.i thought I'd just point that out caz that really helped me
YES QUEEN ME COMING FROM DISCORD YUS YUS
your art is one of the most wonderful things i have ever seen
what happens when you have art block for like 3 months
That's when you go for her last tip and just do it! Go! Draw literally anything at all! I've had stretches like that and every time I returned I felt reenergized by simply drawing, even if I didn't think I wanted to.
same, at one point I had art block and I didn't do anything. I ended up not drawing for 1 year. One day I took a pencil and started drawing and boom.
It's not the same but I as a hobby creative writer have been struggling with write block for a couple of weeks. Now I'm motivated again, to try new things out and just get myself to write, maybe with some goals to meet. Thank you so much!!
Are you doing inktober?
Micah Allen she is
Thank you so much this helped me through art block and it really helped to get inspiration and push myself to do it
Well this explains everything.
I was in art block and my friend told me to watch this video and this helped me alot!
I'm a dancer and I'm having this issue with my choreography lol. Dance has a very "PUSH THOUGH ALL MENTAL OBSTACLES!" mindset and this was helpful
This was such a simple and clean motivational vid
Iam currently in an art- block and for me art is a coping mechanisim so thanks Kasey your tips have helped me a bit!!💜
Sometimes it's your lack of confidence and self esteem in yourself, we can be our own worst enemies at times because we have high expectations for ourselves...but we have to learn not to be so hard on ourselves
I'm just rebuilding my art career from the bottom after going through some personal struggles I feel like giving up sometimes but it's all I've ever known and I know this time I'll come back stronger 💯💯💯
When I have art block I like to watch art TH-camrs like you kasey and find inspiration from them or i just draw and paint the objects around me
Aah I'm so happy you live in Canada... I'm Canadian and you're such an awesome inspiration!
I feel ya. Try spending some time with your family if you get lonely (:
Kasey!! Congrats on 100,000! Your channel is growing really fast!
+Fierce Halberdier Thank you!
Just found this channel yesterday and I love your artstyle!! Keep doing what you're doing 😁 subbed right away!
You seriously should have more subscribers- Your videos are so helpful and just all around awesome!
I tend to make my best works when i push through my art block .At the time i hate how it starts turning out. i hate it after its complete.. but after a week or so i look at it again .. and it magically looks really good..
i just look online at other people's works, and i feel confident about doing something! i get inspired to cure it!
I have just recently started drawing decently again and im already feeling this.
Usually, people say when you get block you should force yourself to draw, I like to just focus on something else than drawing cause to me, the more I force myself to draw, the more block I get. I totally agree with you about art block.
i’ve been in an over all art block for over a year. i have no motivation. something that used to bring me joy just frustrates me now.
Pushing can be good but it can be bad too so always take care of urself, I have noticed this over the last year of trying to focus on my ArtWork and on TH-cam it's a lot of work and some times things don't work in my favor but at least I am trying, but I am learning to listen to my body AND mind, and when I am unsure what to draw I always know I can ask my kids lol good video keep it up
I can relate to literally every thing you said in the video like the work space cause I can't work in a messy area.
Wow ... That's the best video ever I've seen about art block ... Thank you so much ^^
Thank you so much for the advice!
Your art has been inspiring me lately
