Daniel, you just did me the hugest favor...I thought I'd lost access to a book I had written and all my photos...this worked like a charm
Tip: to select as fast as much photos on windows, click and hold Shift and the up arrow.
It will start selecting automatically photos for you. It should work on Mac too
Remember when Apple was user friendly. Thank you for the video, but I cannot believe I am watching how to download my icloud photos.
Of course in Apples infinite wisdom they don’t give you a select all option .

@@DanielAboutTech Your instructions are better than what I got from Apple support about how to access my information from the cloud. With this, I can cut my monthly spending on that. I could not figure out how to access my cloud photos and videos. I've already tried this out and it's so much better. I think the resolution in the video file is better, too.
Guys press ctrl+A to select all at once, then unselect the files you dont want. Its more easier

I had to figure out how to move photos from the icloud onto a hard drive, move photos from iphone to hard drive, and photos from my mac to hard drive. Hi, Great video. I have a few questions. 1. The dates that I took the photos are important to me as they are mostly pictures of my family, so my question is will I be able to see the dates? I'm downloading the photos to MacBook Pro 2. Do I have to DELETE the original from iCloud... or will this move the file rather than copy?.

Did it give you more space on your phone?
Photo downloaded as a number. I right clicked. Clicked previous version, went to details and there you can see the original date of the photo or video was taken.I guess you cannot rename it if you want to know those details but I am not sure because I did not rename the file.
can you now delete those photos off i cloud though?
yes just remember to keep backups of it on an external hard drive just incase something happens to your pc, if you are really worried just read this article

I am interested in download to make space in my iCloud. Is there way to move the photos/videos out of iCloud instead of only download ? Otherwise, I have to keep track of what was downloaded and manually delete it from iCloud which can be time consuming. Thanks

If I download it gives me a safari link back to icloud...? I was able to drag and drop like 500-800 at one time. Then the functionality didn't work and now I get an "untitled clipping" error. Also, the meta data is viewable in photos. Not sure why it is not downloading the actual files.

If yo don't "opitmize" your iMac won't the full photo already be on both the computer and in icloud?

When I get them to my computer download zip file i can’t get them to my external hard drive. It will go in but it won’t let me view as a picture icon or open as a picture. What can I do

OK, I did all of this and it downloaded only 2GB and all of my pictures and videos are still on the iCloud. I used Ctrl+A to highlight everything.

So once I download to my computer than I can delete from the photos folder and I can free up space on my phone? Because deleting anything from my photos in iCloud deletes from my phone too?

DrumcoachJack Yes, but you need to create the folder on the drive ahead of time. Then download the selected icloud photos directly to that folder.
How do you download to an external hard drive if no space on internal laptop hard?
you just select all files and pictures from your downloaded and hook it up and copy and paste them over. you can use a program called WinMerge to check if all the files are the same too
Once I transferred my iCloud to my computer can I delete the photos my my iCloud to make room on my iCloud ? I have no more room and don’t want to pay every month for more storage
If I sign out from the iCloud in my computer will the photos be deleted or it is permanently for me to keep in any folder or back up hard drives?

So I was able to upload my photos to my icloud but only 1650 photos and 215 vids transferred. My phone says I have 6786 photos and 1026 vids (crazy I know). So not all of them transferred. I did another back up and signed back onto my icloud on my PC but they haven't updated. How do I get the rest to transfer??

Hannah Knisley you don’t have enough storage on iCloud, so you would have to delete the photos in iCloud that have been downloaded to pc then more will be sent to iCloud. Sort of like emptying a bucket before you can fill it again...

hey after we finished download all the photos and videos from icloud to mac, if we deleted file on the icloud, is it will be deleted also from the file that we alrady download the first time?

You can also click on one picture and hit the ctrl+A and it highlights all your pictures.

Ive been on with an advisor with apple for two hours. giving up on them actually helping and tried everything else. this option is saying it cannot load my library. so my stuff is basically trapped on the cloud and i cant access it past my iphone.

They have probably not been uploaded. You can then use Image Capture to transfer from the iPhone to the computer.

I have done a lot of research on this. Although I don’t have the best solution, I found it encouraging to lear that the date taken on each photo is still there! It’s part of the “exif” information. When we see the date seem to change to the date downloaded, (it is VERY FRUSTRATING), that is a different part of the file. There are apparently apps where you can have it organized on your pc like it is on iPhone where it is in order of date taken, those pc apps use the EXIF info. That is what I have learned so far! Hope this is encouraging to you as it is to me.

Yes, you have to install a zip opener.

Yeah. Just delete em from your icloud and all of your photos should be in your downloads under the file ICloud

I'm using the shift button to select multiple photos but how do you select every other photo, without selecting all in the row. ie - I want photo 1,3,5 say in that row, but i can't figure out how to do that. how do you select multiples without deselecting others...
