What are you talking about? All of that music and playing he does-it’s because he had the talent to be able to do it. He plays all the instruments on his albums. I don’t think anybody can be in his shoes, no matter what it looks like from the outside.

the fact that EVH is his dad definitely helped his career in three ways; Money, access to knowledge and equipment from an early age with full family support, and with those that wanted to be attached to his Brand/DNA

Lol, this dude inherited his dad's highly successful guitar and amp company "EVH". He's been a guest for the Foo Fighters, support act for Guns N Roses & Metallica literally because of his name. His first single blew up in the charts because of his famous Dad's death, I know it was still a difficult time for him. But he had about the biggest boost an upcoming artist could ever ask for. Nice guy, but he is absolutely oblivious about starting from the bottom

I can see how being born a wealthy kid AND having unlimited access to the best musical equipment, an incredible home studio, AND two extraordinarily talented, famous relatives like Eddie & Alex to help you musically or on the business side would be quite a hinderance. Being able to sit at home all day playing guitar and not having to grind at a real job would also be quite tough.

Wolfie's solo band..... would have never played on a Metallica stage if not for his dad. Obviously for his music career its helped with everything. Eddie being his dad gave him every door opened, all the funds are there, the contacts, the name etc... Wolf never did years of playing shitty clubs riding the bus, being poor like real bands. Its been all handed to him.... not self made. Thats just how it is, impossible for him to avoid. His bands music isnt anything out of this world either, its very much like something we have heard a million times already.

Wolf's music sucks. He is only so popular because of his last name. That and he was a complete scum bag that wrote a song about his father passing away and then waiting for that to actually happen before releasing it. No one talks about that part at all. He has lost all respect in my mind. What DLR has recently talked about Wolf doing on the 2015 tour just solidifies my opinion of that fat piece of shit.

I'm 65. Just a touch younger than Eddie, I'm also from the San Gabriel Valley in SoCal. Less than 1/2hr from where Ed & Al grew up, who I knew a bit because 1 of their neighbors was my boss at my 1st job delivering pizzas. My boss Rob could hear I enjoyed RnR every time I started my 63 Bug. So he invited me to a background Kegger featuring the best (there was lots of them, too) band in the area, VH. He wasn't kidding either!
That's beside the point though. I'd agree with Wolfe though too. Of course doors can be opened, but if your opportunity isn't handled correctly it can just a more well funded disaster. Celebrity offspring not parented correctly is Bad Parenting plugged into a guitar Amplifier. Either way even under the best of circumstances it's a Minefield. Wolfe seems like a pretty cool balanced young dude, no disrespect whatsoever is meant in saying this either, but overeating is also a form of coping. By how sensible he generally sounds, he'll probably get a handle on that one before too long, also.

      @escapist502 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I have to agree with this comment. Although at the same time, we can’t possibly know what someone else’s perspective is.
But one thing seems to be pretty clear, and that is that there are thousands and thousands of musicians out there that would love an opportunity to cut through the constant inflow of new content every day, and get noticed even just for 15 minutes
I think it’s always been hard, but it’s more challenging now
But even more to the point, is how elusive it can be to create memorable songs, that people sing along with
Unfortunately, the greatest guitar playing and the greatest singing are not usually as memorable as a great song can be
So many songs, Van Halen put out that just had so many memorable hooks, I think we could all make a pretty solid list without trying too hard
So incredible that beyond his fathers incredible legacy as a guitar innovator, and virtuoso, are the songs that so many people love singing, along with, including myself
But development can take time, and this new young virtuoso is young still
Keep going Wolfgang, we’re all supporting you brother!!
      :)

I was named after my father, who was a very well liked popular business owner in my hometown. I grew up having to live up to his name. The easiest route for me in life would have been to do everything my father did, to latch on to every advantage he offered me and to eventually take his legacy and business over. I optioned to do other things in life because I felt that I would never feel that I truly earned success having just accepted what was handed to me. Wolfie joined Van Halen. He named his band after Van Halen's first band name and put WVH in the band name. He launched his career by posting a tribute song to his dad. This dude has done everything possible to cash in on the fact that he's a Van Halen and now he calls it a hindrance.

He's trying to build something that's completely his own, that has nothing to do with the band van halen. Plus I'm sure there's a certain level.Of expectation people expect from him. Total bull crap. Complete nepotism. Also in this day and age seven year old girls can play Eruption and all of Eddie’s stuff. Wolfgang is his son pure and simple. As a guitar player Wolfgang is just a copy cat, he’s not doing anything original or fresh. Has he ever written a song? I’m sure he has but no one could tell you what it is. Barf.

Actually, he's primarily a drummer. He plays all instruments, including vocals, on both his releases. His guitar work is nothing like his dad's, and he's definitely a better drummer, singer, and bassist than his dad. And, considering all the "bull crap" being talked here by people who neither know anything about or heard his work, I'd say he's pretty spot on.

He's full of shit. Sure trying hard to convince people that he earned what success he has on his own. Millions of others out there have worked infinitely longer and harder and hadnt achieved a fraction of what was given to him.

I can see how never having to scrap up gas money or tour in a van, take a crappie job so you can play for free or being able to have as much studio time as you want is a HUGE hindrance 😂 dude is talented, but he is a nepo baby and he should just own it. Hell if my parents set me up, I'd run with it. Everyone understands wolf, just be honest with yourself about it.

I was appalled when they canned Michael Anthony and Wolfgang could not wait to take a legends place. Michael Anthony was playing for Mammoth and Van Halen before Wolfgang was a dirty thought, before his father met his mother. I will never buy a Wolfgang album or buy one of his tickets. He is riding on his father’s coattails. I would have respect for him if he came up with his own band name, and if he refused to replace Michael Anthony. Wolfgang is bad news. He is no good!
