First Van Halen song that grabbed my attention was when I heard Panama on the radio in 8th grade and immediately was obsessed and had to learn how to play it. One of the first things I learned on my guitar as a teen back in the 80s was Eddie's finger tapping. Lovely guy Rob. There are very few albums (that I adore) that I remember exactly where I was when first hearing them, but VH1 was a standout. I took such experiences for granted as a kid, but you only get to do/hear/see some things for the first time - once in your life. It's later you realise how much they infiltrated it and how cool that first time was. You can't get those back.
You dislike smh...who the yell aire you referring to?? Sammy Haggar?? Then the obvious David..had to be David Lee Roth not Crosby, damned Justin Bieber fans. If you don't like our musicians from our years then why are you here being disrespectful during a tribute To great a Guitarist who has just died this week. He was a nice guy a great husband and and dad and a super talented musician. Get off the comments section here and go batch at some sjw videos, shame!
On that day I was just plopping on my couch when at the exact time my phone alerted BREAKING NEWS. When I read it the shock I had felt like HUGE BLAST of electricity go through me. It took about 2 hours for me to get back to feeling normal!!!
I really never liked Roth or his antics. He’s always had a huge ego and he always thought he was the big hincho and the talent in VAN HALEN. Sammy proved him wrong, and obviously we know who was the real talent in the band.

I started bugging my mom for a 'Gitar' and she bought me one from a garage sale in the summer of 1980. I spent so many hours sitting next to my record player trying in vain to learn Eddie's stuff lol. The guy literally changed my life. 40 years later I still have a basement full of music crap and I still LOVE those first 4 V.H. albums. I feel like I lost my brother. There will never be another Eddie. R.I.P. brother.
EDDIE.....RIP.....SO GLAD ROB LOOKS HEALTHY.......WAS WORRIED THERE WHEN I HAVE SEEN HIM COUPLE OF YEARS AGO............
Rob, you are truly loved
Talking music is always a good thing!
Thank you for sharing your stories Rob.
Rob you have a perfect metal voice, cheers
We ALL remember the first time we heard that first album! It was like HOLY SH*T.....this is gonna change rock forever....and I agree with ya'll - Rob Halford- Class Act. Period
Happy to see Mr. Halford....Seems to be in great shape....Metal God Forever.
I did hear that story years ago that Glenn and Eddie were buddies. He was respected by everybody.
Halford is a good man and puts on a helluva show.
Eddie Van Halen......There will only ever be one! RIP EDDIE!
A legend honoring a legend.
Awe ! I remember this gal . She’s a sweetheart!
Two of the best bands
Hearing the Metal God sharing his memories of EVH was really moving. Long live r'n'r \m/
1 dislike. Smh. Must have been David Crosby (meh...)
Now it's up to 4. Damn Justin Bieber fans 😝😄
Got nothing but love for David C but he is kind of a grumpy old thing.
Lol! I agree, can’t stand that fat used up druggie.
Lil Wayne
You dislike smh...who the yell aire you referring to?? Sammy Haggar?? Then the obvious David..had to be David Lee Roth not Crosby, damned Justin Bieber fans. If you don't like our musicians from our years then why are you here being disrespectful during a tribute To great a Guitarist who has just died this week. He was a nice guy a great husband and and dad and a super talented musician. Get off the comments section here and go batch at some sjw videos, shame!
Much respect Rob.....RIP Eddie
On that day I was just plopping on my couch when at the exact time my phone alerted BREAKING NEWS. When I read it the shock I had felt like HUGE BLAST of electricity go through me. It took about 2 hours for me to get back to feeling normal!!!
Rock & Metal legends respect one another. Especially if 1 legend is now gone.
RIP guitar god. This is a sad 2020 for all musicians. \m/
I always found it interesting that Roth thought he had the most to say about what the band should do next. Wake up, Dave. Eddie was the man.
@Nationalist 1988 Agreed
@Nationalist 1988 according to whom ?
To Nationalist
Kiss Mah Arse ! 🤣
I really never liked Roth or his antics. He’s always had a huge ego and he always thought he was the big hincho and the talent in VAN HALEN. Sammy proved him wrong, and obviously we know who was the real talent in the band.
Put the music on and turn it up best way to keep Ed alive...yes well said
I can hear the influence of David Lee Roth in Halford's singing. Love them both.
My all time fave album of Van Halen was Diver Down because it was my first album.
Great story about hearing Van Halen for this first time!
Always like RH - Great band, Great voice, Great guy!
My go to VH
1 Dance the night away
2 mean street
3 little guitars
Thanks Rob Hanford. No one gets the respect unless you give some up right. so nice to hear even RJD so many yrs ago. We never forget cuz we can turn it up to hear life at its best. God bless. EVH 🎤🎸🤘🏼
God bless you Mr Halford
What a fantastic time to promote his book. I think I would feature a pic of Eddie.
Something to hear all these famous people they remember exactly where they were when your Van Halen
Halford. Always a class act.
Amen Rob. Crank that great music...!!! Long like Eddie Van Halen...!!!
It's a big one man. Respect.
Love listening to Rob (I'm no prude but I appreciate that he can talk without f'ing and blinding every other word). On a side note : i was hoping that at some point he would put the fingers of his hands together.....just like the poster behind him ! :-)
Legend speaks about legend
Rob is all class and did you know he is one of the best singers of all time?
Thank you to God (And the parents ) for creating Edward Van halen, and thank you for sharing his incredible talent and energetic, happy and loving spirit with all of us! There are admittedly thousands or more great musicians out there th at are lyyYh oved but there was only ONE Eddie Van Halen. 2020 has been a year of huge loss in the music world including Neil Peart. We very sadly saw that coming but Eddie Van Halen dying stabbed me through the heart. Rest in peace Eddie and blessings to Wolfe and Valerie, his 2ndd wife brother Alex and all of his family friends and fans. I know I'll never forget the cutest smile I've ever seen on a guy and the great music I loved as a teenager. I grew up with them, thanks for the memories.
EDDIE ERA UNA GRAN PERSONA HUMANA Y HUMILDE.
5150.....Q984.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🤘
Totalmente extraordinario!! Siempre vivirá en nuestros corazones. Es una tristeza enorme que se haya ido tan pronto, creo que aún era joven y más de esa manera tan terrible, creo no merecía tanto sufrimiento. D. E. P. Eddie 💔💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭
The Metal God. Got to see JP a couple times in their prime. Got to see EVH on 81 tour. These guys brought it live.
such a great spokesman for rock and metal
