The M11-A1 has both of SIGs SRTs. The Short Reach Trigger, thinner and excellent for smaller hands and the Short Reset Trigger with far less travel to reset. The Short Reset Trigger is actually a sear and safety kit, it does not alter the trigger at all.

Thats so strange because the P226 and P228 feel like im holding a brick. I feel like I have to reach my trigger finger around my middle finger to get to the trigger. Its excruciatingly uncomfortable to me. But the P320 feels great, love it. I own two of them and look forward to buying a third.

The M11A-1 comes stock with the SRT (Short Reset Trigger) system(trigger reset after first pull is very short) and a light thin physical trigger known as the (SRT) Short Reach Trigger. I own one of these M11A-1's and I love it!! I have done a few modifications to mine. This is the gun I take when I go to tactical handgun training classes, and it would be the gun I would take if I had to pick a sidearm for a real live combat scenario.

Carried Sigs since 1987. West German made 226 and 220 were my first, in 90 picked up a 228, then a 245, 230, a newer 220 and last year found a very slightly used 229 Extreme. Absolutely great handguns. Only mods on the 228 was the SRT, finally put new Trijicons on it after the originals dulled, and found 15 rounders and one 18 rounder on the Wilson site.

@Olde English Outfitters : Great review. I would like to clear up some stuff for the viewership though. I see a lot of people ordering the redesigned trigger shoe (Short-Reach Trigger) thinking it is the "SRT" upgrade simply because the acronym fits. This is not the case. It's what you described at @3:17 .
This particular pistol has the Short reset trigger (SRT) AND the Short-Reach Trigger shoe. What you described was that the redesigned trigger shoe was responsible for the short reset. This is inaccurate and a fault of sig's marketing and naming strategy which unnecessarily misleads/confuses interested buyers.
The "Short Reset Trigger" or SRT is a redesigned sear and safety lever combo that reduces the trigger reset travel to about 3/32" vs the roughly 1/4" reset of their standard-series trigger reset. Something that the average shooter will notice for sure but not likely train enough to take advantage of its increased efficiency.
Conversely, the new Short-Reach Trigger shoe was a way for Sig to avoid redesigning their grip frame while managing to reduce trigger reach for smaller-handed shooters. This added a selling point of "modularity" for interested potential agency purchases. It has nothing to do with the physical reset of the firearm's trigger system. You could install the same short-reach trigger shoe on a gun with a standard sear and the length of trigger pull, or the length of reset will not change. It just makes it easier for someone with smaller hands to gain leverage over the DA trigger pull. That being said, if you are someone with larger hands and you get a pistol with the short reach trigger and you boogerhook it, it WILL pinch you during the DA firing sequence, so if you have large paws, I would advise you to grab a standard trigger shoe or an upgraded, adjustable Gray guns trigger shoe ( a better investment).
I hope this helps. I appreciate the great content. Keep it coming.

    • @Kenevans1258
      @Kenevans1258 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I heard Allen say this as well and understand the short reach trigger has nothing to do with short reset of the trigger. I installed a standard trigger on my M11 as I have long fingers and a large hand...the short reach trigger was not a good fit. The SRT on the other hand is a must have in my opinion. I've installed it on all P series I own.

I have a 25th anniversary M11-a1 & it's phenomenal. Although mine came with p228 grip on left side & Sig on right grip...lol.. the anniversary edition is a beautiful piece with a laser etched American Flag & anniversary dates. With the phosphate internals it works well for me, i own a towing company & I work outside in rain/snow & often crawling on the pavement or in ditches & so the coating is great for corrosion resistance, even when it doesn't get as much detailing as it deserves. The factory night sights are excellent even in low light, Better than my actual Trijicon add on ones on other pieces. I do kinda wish it had the ability to add a red dot window sight. But I love the piece too much to switch to another daily carry just for that. Great video.

Same with a P226 Scorpion and a P220 Combat gun. I am curious about the M11-A1, but in Kalifornia, we are screwed for newer guns...that's why I am modifying what I have...perhaps the P229 in .40 will be next...I also did the 1911 SS with a new scalloped trigger too. I have a P228. Great firearm. Had to go with 10 round mags because i live in a not so free state. One thing you didn’t mention is that the shooter could pull the hammer back on the first shot and avoid the double action altogether, but not many people would do that. I took a training class where the instructor had me put the pistol into single action before clearing a room to get the shot off faster and more accurately.

Good video, I’ve got several Sig’s, two of which are the M11A1 and a single 228. Good overall gun the M11A1, hardly any complaints from me. It is actually one of my guns that has a higher round count, about 7000 rounds through it, my original M11A1. My newer one has just a few hundred and no idea the 228 as I purchased it used. My go to M11A1 has not just range window time but courses, outdoor in rain and mud. I shot 650 rounds in a course one day, another 500 or so the next day. It has not been perfect but shoot any gun enough, you will have failures, generally ammo or mags in my experience. I did have one hard failure of the gun. It’s original recoil spring snapped in half, somewhere near the 7000 round mark, took me a while to the slide off but it was effectively hard down as the slide locked in position. It is a gun I trust my life to if needed.

Thanks Alan, it's really nice to hear a adult giving a adult review instead of the typical video game hipster reviews so common today. Just discovered your channel & have subscribed, love the M11 as well.

I think my grips said 228 when I bought a M11 a few years ago. I got the Sig aluminum grips (which I would not want shoot a lot rounds at a time as they are pretty tough on ones skin). I got this due to its resistance to salt in the air as I could take it with on a boat.

This pistol looks like the Sig pistols I have always respected. The new stuff seems to have lots of issues compared to the reputation Sig earned with pistols like this one.

I wholeheartedly agree. Any gun enthusiast should have in his possession along with some Walther, Steyr, Glock, HK, Beretta and CZ at least one sweet Sig Sauer. And that is just the bare bones minimum.

I picked up a used one for a great deal. A female owned it. Shot a box of ammo. Decided it was too heavy. Trades it for a Glock 43x. Classic let the female pick her own gun guys. Very nice pistol. The factory Installed short reach trigger and installed SRT kit and night sights and 3rd magazine make this a great value actually.

I have a m11 A1, phenomenal pistol. For those who wonder which to carry the glock 19 or the m11 A1. There both equally reliable, accurate. But the m11 just feels like it’s ready to go to WARRR lol when u shoot it, u can just tell it’ll take some abuse if it had too.

Once you go Sig that's it. It becomes your favorite pistol. No other pistol even compares. I have Glocks & 1911's, but they just don't cut it. It's design is superb, its feel and handling is natural and intuitive. It is of the highest quality and remarkably accurate right out of the box. Not a "cheap" weapon, but with Sig, you get what you pay for. I have NEVER been dissatisfied with any of my Sigs, but my 228 is my favorite! Looks like the big differences between this pistol, the M-11 is made in America, one piece slide, and the extractor is different. NICE REVIEW.

The story, as Iv'e been given, is that the Army had arranged for a product demonstration for the SIG P225 because that was the pistol they were originally interested in. The SIG guys told the Army brass that they had a new double stack version of the P225 (The P228) that they might be interested in but the Army said no, the demonstration was to be for the P225 only. So the SIG guys said, "we'll do the P225 demonstration but bring some P228's along unofficially". After the official P225 demonstration was finished the SIG guys casually passed around their stash of P228's to the Army brass and thats when they changed their mind and went for the P228 instead.
