    We have shared this dish a couple of times already here on TH-cam, however, on our recent visit to Shunji Japanese Cuisine located in Los Angeles, we were so surprised by the size of these live sweet shrimp. Next the the sweet shrimp was crab meat sushi; it too was delectable.
    Biting into the body that sat on top of the rice was honestly a bit strange. The flesh still felt alive and energetic, if that even remotely makes sense...it was very bouncy and tender at the same time. I've had this dish many times but this particular time, it was just interesting, in the most amazing profound way.
    If you're ever in the Santa Monica area, stop by and visit Shunji and be prepared to enjoy traditional sushi as it started from the motherland.

      I personally really liked the way the video was shot. He did each part four times so you do get to see everything, at least once. I think the back and forth from the chef to the live shrimp added to the experience, almost felt like I was there.

    All these people complaining it's inhumane, shrimps were ice chills, this desensitise the crustacean and clean chop of the head. Shrimp still "moving" is because of nerves.

    Catching a fish is pretty "inhumane" too, as is boiling live crawfish, or slaughtering a chicken. I don't get what all the fuss is about, this entire channel is dedicated to eating raw animals. Don't like it? Plenty of vegan channels out there too, try those instead. Also, food is delicious.

    • @figgledoi
      @figgledoi 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please dont post comments like this. You are killing animals because you like how they taste a little bit more than something else. You have no room to talk.

    • @TehMojoGuy
      @TehMojoGuy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      +nipel ofrobbaz And supposedly just because you don't eat meat/animal products, you have authority to rule on what a person can say? You have no room to talk. I don't care what anybody else eats, more power to them, but I do care when they start trying to force me to change how I feel.
      Also, I found the vegan.

    Im not really sure what to think about this. I do think shrimps are tasty and animals are killed for food is fine by my book. I really don't know how a shrimp works and how their feelings work, if they even have feelings, but I can't imagine, it's really nice to have your legs cut off, be put down on a plate to have to watch people prepare and eat you! haha I'm just not sure. I'm no butthurt vegan, like I read in the comments before, but yeah.. that's all I have to say. I'm not really sure what to think about it. It looks really good though!

      Pain is all in the brain and their brains can't process the main like humans and other animals, at least from what I'm told and a quick google search says. However, a lot of the movement shown is involuntary. Lots of animals whent hey die continue to move, if you chop off a chicken's head the body can run around still.

    Went to an Asian market and bought a pound of spot shrimp once and ate them all raw while it was still moving, much like the video. The body of the shrimp was almost too fresh, too vibrant, if that makes any sense. I left some in the fridge overnight and the meat actually softened and tasted much better. Much like how tuna actually tastes better a week out of the water rather than fresh off the boat, amaebi tastes better if it's been dead for a day or two IMHO.

    Alle Lebewesen verdienen Achtung und Respekt und wenn wir sie essen, dürfen wir dankbar dafür sein. Ich esse zwar nur mehr sehr wenig Fleisch und Fisch, bin aber jedesmal Dankbar dafür, ich habe auch kein Thema damit, wenn andere mehr davon essen, aber das zur Schau stellen, von Tieren, welche Körperteile abgetrennt wurden, während sie noch leben, halte ich für nicht notwendig. Auch Aussagen, wie: "Es sind nur Shrimps", zeigen mir wieder, wie überheblich und herablassend wir Menschen geworden sind.
    Danke dennoch für eure interessanten Videos, ich habe großen Respekt vor eurer Kochkunst.

    Is the next step to deep fry the heads after the sushi is eaten? I had it at one place that did that. Prior to that I always avoided eating the head of whole fried shrimp like my parents ate, but that night I thought "What the hell? Why not?". I haven't looked back. Fried shrimp heads are my favorite preparation of shrimp now.

    Dude, you're actually obsessed with the live shrimp sushi. This is like the fourth video now. I mean this, coupled with the stabbing yourself with a Lionfish, I'm starting to wonder what the deal is here.

    For all those feeling bad for the shrimp let me eat you instead. Im not a big fan of seafood so since you want to complain let me eat your tasty skin :D. I don't like seafood much but looks good.

    I'd have to try one of those eyeballs. Fish eyes are great but never tried shrimp eyes.
