    YOU ARE AMAZING AND BEYOND WORDS. You were Grace's voice today and I am honored that you chose to present her story. My girlfriend is Grace's biological aunt but I was present for everything in this case. I wish Jacob would have lived and been in GP and been killed the same way he murdered a sweet, innocent angel. Sara should suffer the same way Grace did, every day for the rest of her life. I hope the women in prison have fun with her. Brittany you truly rock. Please don't ever change. I'm sorry the fam was sick but glad everyone is better and that you got a break after all of this. All my love to you.

    Im a private duty pediatrics nurse so I work in the home of sick children usually on a ventilator but not always kinda like a medical babysitter but a lot of the kids we take care of are in foster care and I see it all the time. First I will say that there is definitely some amazing people that take care of these kids top notch and really do a good job but I would say at least 50-60% the Foster family are in it for the cash. It's a profitable job if take a medical fragile child ( medical or mental health issues) some of those have 2 or more kids they are getting check on and I myself have reported several things that was seriously scary and nothing was done. I was told my social services that they were not going to make a big deal about it because they had too many kids and not enough parents to take them. I'm not talking about something small I mean possible sexual activity if not abuse and I saw with my own eyes a mom smack this girl across the face in front of me. I was the nurse for the baby sister of this girl. I reported it immediately to my company and the case worker and all they said was they would look into it and for me not to get into it with the mom. ( That's a whole other story ) I went off and the mom told me to leave but I couldn't because the baby was on a ventilator and had to have a nurse. The mom didn't have custody but lived with the people who did have custody even though she wasn't supposed to be there. It's a mess but my point is I was shocked at how little they care, they say report report report and tell you can get fired if you see abuse and don't report it but when you do they tell you not to look closely and to shut up and ignore it. Idk for sure of it's like that everywhere but all the nurses I know have had crap like this happen and have had the same experience. The houses they remove these kids from are way safer a lot of times but this is a very lucrative business for all the parties involved except the parents. It's a racket and they remove kids from homes for little to no reason and put these families through hell. CPS has a massive problem with corruption.

      SMH that’s crazy. HORRIBLE ppl get to keep kids but good parents that are struggling not abusive don’t ,I don’t understand it at all!!! Cps will jump to take children from a good environment to one that totally destroy them

      As a nurse myself I can literally feel your pain & frustration. There will be other's that say you could/should have done more to help but they will never understand. I've never worked in the same field you have, spent most of my career in operating theatre's & believe me I have stories, many stories to tell. But there is only so much you can do, you can & do report issues but in most cases you're either ignored or only called on to give your testimony after a very serious incident occurs.

      I'm the parent of a child who spent a good amount of time on full vent support, as well as having had a g-button and other issues. It's the hardest thing imaginable to have to see innocent little kids stuck in bed with severe medical issues...I can't even imagine the type of saint you'd have to be to voluntarily take in medically fragile, bedbound kids! So, unfortunately, I can absolutely see how some people would be in it just for the money.
      That said...my own kids are growing up, and I never knew it was possible to foster kids who need vent support! Since I'm already familiar with caring for such kids and feel a powerful need to give back to my community, so now I'm curious about fostering medically fragile kids once mine are all grown up. Thanks for the idea! 👍

    This actually enraged me. I have a child that was taken by CYS and have also gone all the way through termination of parental rights. I could spend the whole day describing my negative opinions and experiences with the organization. This case is the terror the birth mother experiences when her children are placed in there care. I know from experience. My child was thankfully adopted by a relative so I do not continously worry about this exact situation occurring with my child everyday. It would have driven me insane otherwise. I strongly believe reform is desperately needed to protect these children that are taken!! What is needed desperately is an entity that oversees CYS! They are a for profit organization with no overseeing agent. Their is no one to report a claim against them too. One last thing, change the poor child's name back to what her birth mother named her. RIP angel.

    CASE SUGGESTION: I watch A LOT of channels about true crime but I have yet to see anyone do a video on this case. In 2001 Julie Mae Terrell killed her daughter Lauralee Eve Terrell, in Madison Lake, Minnesota. She killed her daughter with a shot gun, partially dismembered her body, and suddenly relocated to Iowa, with her daughter's body still in her trunk. The most shocking part is Julie is already out of prison!! She was released earlier this year! I hope this brief story catches your attention and entices your curiosity as I did not want to share too many details.

  • @lieslwright70
    @lieslwright70 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Social services let her down. They are absolutely culpable for this crime. There were tons of warning signs. The took Grace away from loving parents and left her to die in the adoptive home. Her biological parents may have lived in a bad area and had struggles but they genuinely loved their children. They had their kids removed because they were poor, couldn’t afford a safe living environment and had mental health issues. So why didn’t the state help them so they could keep their children? So they took their children away and gave them to abusers who eventually murdered Grace despite many red flags.

    • @VioletJoy
      @VioletJoy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not really fair to say. Brittany kind of downplayed it here, but there was evidence of abuse in the home and she had been removed twice. It's really not accurate to say that her parents "did their best." Her own mother said she wishes she could go back and do things differently so that her parental rights hadn't been taken away permanently.
      It's very common to want to point blame somewhere, but this was a complicated situation.
      Let's say Grace had died in her bio family home. Everyone would be outraged that she hadn't been taken away. Unfortunately, there is no cut-and-dry way to know the truth. Sadly, it's the kids who suffer the most.

    • @lieslwright70
      @lieslwright70 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VioletJoy even if that was true, there were plenty of calls and warnings that she was being abused in the adoptive home so it’s 100% fair to say social services let her down big time. And this is a story that’s repeated itself time and again so please don’t downplay it. Every time I hear of a child that was murdered by parents or guardians, the abuse had beefed repeatedly reported. I’m a teacher and I’ve reported abuse that social services ignored. Go ahead. Look up literally any case of a child murdered by caregivers and see for yourself that abuse has been reported. Our child protective services need overhauling across the whole country.

    • @VioletJoy
      @VioletJoy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lieslwright70@lieslwright70 I don't disagree with any of that. I was simply saying that it's not fair to suggest that she was ripped out of a healthy, loving home. It's important to recognize that part of this situation, too.

    • @lieslwright70
      @lieslwright70 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@VioletJoy parents who struggle to provide a stable home life still typically love their children. As I’m understanding it, their “crimes” were poverty, forcing them to live with a bad person. And a father with limited intellectual abilities. The state can work with that. With housing and support for intellectual disabilities. I think we agree overall, but I do think she stood a better chance with her biological mother than in a house with people who actively hated her. Even if the circumstances with her biological mother weren’t ideal. She still loved her. Anyway, once the state removed her from her mother’s care, they were responsible for her welfare and they absolutely blew it

    • @lieslwright70
      @lieslwright70 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VioletJoy sorry. I have to double down on this for the sake of justice. Neither of her parents abused her. This is what their attorney said:
      “It sounds like this poor girl went through hell,' said lawyer David Tornetta, who had fought for the birth parents to keep their three young children.
      He called them good people who perhaps lacked the money and skills to care for them. The birth parents lost contact with all three of their children.”
      It’s gross! I listened to an interview with the parents and it’s seems like both parents suffer cognitive challenges. Because of this, they were impoverished and forced to live in bad situations with a bad person who abused the children. Instead of taking the kids away from LOVING parents, SS should have provided housing and education in parenting. They could have provided a good home with support. I looked at a number of sources and watched an interview. They aren’t drug addicts or abusive or unkind. They simply have cognitive disabilities and could not provide adequate accommodations. They desperately tried to meet the expectations of child services, moving three times. But every time they were too poor to afford a nice place. They were doing their best and what child services should have done was provide the simple supports that they needed. If it was the parents who were abusive, I would feel differently. But no source is claiming that either parent was personally responsible for the abuse. It was someone they were depending on due to their cognitive abilities. That breaks my heart. I teach special needs children and sometimes they grow up, fall in love and have children and they should be supported. The alternative is forced sterilization if we don’t want children raised by people with cognitive disabilities. And I think that would be completely unethical. Disability is not a crime.

    This is my first time watching your channel and I think you’re absolutely wonderful 😊. This is not the first time hearing this tragedy about Grace but the way you covered it was by far the most real, the most emotional and you talked about her parents and the struggles and challenges they had but emphasized the love her mother had for her and how heartbreaking and sad it was to lose thier children due to the hard times and life struggles they endured. How the lawyer wasn’t able to work for the rest of the day after telling this mother that she would basically never have the chance to be a mother to her beautiful children anymore. Unfortunately because of bad circumstances and hard times and life struggles and mental illness a mother loses her children that doesn’t mean she didn’t love them or try her best and you let that be known and the way you talked about Grace and how amazing she was and the things she loved is just amazing. I’ve heard this case before watched it on other channels and the way u told it was so real and wasn’t just about the awful tragedy that happened to her. Or didn’t portray her biological mother as a neglectful parent who deserved to have her children removed. It’s sad that this woman who adopted her could brutally torture and take her life. She is evil and it makes me wonder what her motives were from the beginning. Her husband was doing the unthinkable to these children who they took in and were supposed to keep safe and love and give a chance to have a beautiful life. I believe she knew what he was doing and I believe she was right along with him. Makes me wonder what the motive was for working and fostering children, because she goes on to be with another man who has sick fantasies “both have sick fantasies of doing that They are evil and she always has been from day 1. This is not the first time hearing this sad tragic story but the way you told it speaks volumes and was very emotional. Thank you

    I first met Sara Packer in August 2016. She and I connected right away because she is really smart and I love smart women. She and I talked a lot about domestic violence. At the time I was fleeing a terrible situation and she offered to let me stay at her home. She was kind to me; she told me that her husband used to beat her every day, and that she understood what I was experiencing. Here, years later I am still shocked and hurt. I really thought Grace ran away because Sara spoke so badly of her. Sara would even wear Grace’s clothes. There is a betrayal because I don’t know what to believe. Was she really abused by David Packer? Does anyone know? I managed to save a picture of Grace and her little brother. I keep it with my most valuable things.
    On Grace’s wings.

    The system has been broken all across the u.s. for as long as I've been alive. I know this because when I was in junior high, my mother punched me (the abuse started before I was 5, and the physical abuse ended when I finally moved out at 21. The emotional and mental abuse is still going on, or at least she tries. I will be 50 next summer.) in the eye, and the counselor called Social Services after they're very short investigation, and they said our family was completely normal.

    My very first death as a nurse was a woman with an aortic aneurysm. It was my first night and the nurse training was puking. So I was alone with this woman who is just screaming and yelling for her mother (she was in her 80's) so I made sure an aide called 911 and I got in bed with her, held her hand and sang to her as she passed.
    My point ....
    It was obviously insanely painful and there was absolutely nothing we could do for her to help. At the very end she was humming with me and then she was quiet.
    I spent most of that night crying. 😮‍💨

    People who did something horrendous like that, shouldn’t have the right to appeal a death sentence. You kill somebody - in an especially horrific way - you forfeit any right like that. They should be brought the the gallows right after a death sentence. No sitting around and waiting for years.

    First off I LOVE the Prosecutor and the Judge, they kept it SO real and that's SOOO important in cases like this. In response to your question I feel like Sara should have received the death penalty because nothing good can come from her on this Earth - BUT I also REALLY like the idea of her suffering for years and years at the hands of other inmates in prison, so I'm good on that. As far as Jacob, his death was unbelievable poetic justice! He received exactly what he did to Grace MANY MANY times and then the way he died would have been SO terrifying he also got to experience the sheer terror and panic Grace felt as well. The way you described his death was perfection *chefs kiss*!

    This case reminds me of a true TV movie I just watched. A Child Lost Forever: The Jerry Sherwood Story. Not sure if that was the woman's real name. I think the kid was named Dennis. In the movie (based on a real case), a teen ward of the state was forced to give up her child for adoption. She waited 19 years to be contacted by this son upon his 18th bday only to find out he'd been dead since age 3. She wasn't informed until she searched for him herself. His adoptive mother beat him to such an extent that it was determined to have led to his death. If he'd been raised by his bio mother, he would have likely been safer. Heartbreaking case, just like this one. It's awful that there are people out there who think others are disposable according to their whims.

    How did the jury not reach full agreement immediately for a death penalty for both of those monsters?
    There is a lot of talk these days about our justice system being lenient on the worst crimes. And that's another story. But when I really think about it, there seem to be a lot of people getting on jury's and wanting to give these monsters a much lighter sentence than they deserve.
    It speaks of our society as a whole. And that's disturbing. I have to wonder what secrets some of those jury members are hiding in their attics, or buried in their back yards?

I do believe they both should have gotten the death penalty. I know that sort of personality and how its formed.She feels the need to protect and care for everyone - because she knows what it is to suffer.I had it myself its a ' saver complex' usually people like this are super sensitive and empathic - she felt ALOT and masked it with a smile and found it in her heart tobe a beacon of light for others. - sacraficing her own needs - A true empath. I'll never understand the system. I spent two years behind bars bc I admitted I slipped up on probation and I clearly needed help yet while in the there there were evil people coming in and getting right back out. It just blows my mind. Also, the fact it took a year and a half to take action. There is nothing that can make me angrier than a person that selfishly takes another's innocence. It's sick!!!!

Every story that you and other creators bring a light to about how absolutely fucked up our child protective services is so frustrating and we continue to remember and honor these beautiful children who have lost their lives as well as continue to fight to protect the rest of the kids

    This one was a hard one to listen to and reminds me of a case in my local area about a 3/4 year old girl. I used to foster children but the system is so messed up that we stopped. But then I think we should continue bc there are so many kids in need and in need of safe homes. It is insane how many unsafe foster homes there are. 😞 thanks for covering this case and bringing attention to this issue.

    Absolutely deserved the death penalty. Another example of a broken child protective system.. how can you take children from someone who can’t afford to provide and give them to someone evidently not vetted enough to be deemed a proper caregiver and guardian? She should never have been allowed to foster after the first husband.. that sweet child could still be here 💔
    Hope you have a great week, Britt! ♥️

    This is my first time watching one of your videos and I already love your brutal honesty ( because I was also thinking what a bish) and I know that YT can be very hard on people who have true crime channels. I think that you should be able to call the people whatever you want to especially so when it is just the truth. My mum always taught me growing up to be honest about how you feel (not in a rude or mean way, you have to say it respectfully of course) and don't say anything about someone behind their back unless you are willing to say it to their face.

    There are definitely some inconsistencies in the story. Like, when you lose custody of your child/children you do not get to go to visitation with them because the county is trying to make the transition for the child easier and you don’t have any rights to that child any more. Maybe they are mixing up info in the details and at that time the children were still in the foster system but reunification was technically still the desired outcome?
