  • Today we take a look at my friend Bella’s, 2006 BMW 3 series sedan, with a little over 100,000 miles this car is pretty solid and drives great.
    The E90 BMW 3 Series Sedan is a fourth-generation model that was introduced in 2006. It was available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive know as BMW’s “X-Drive” and it came with a variety of engine options, including a 2.5-liter, 3.0-liter, and in later years a twin turbocharged inline 6 cylinder. It was known for its smooth ride, precise handling, and high-quality interior. The e90 received a facelift in 2009 and the “25i” was dropped and replaced with the 28i” production continued until 2011 And the F30 began production in 2012 as a 2013 model.

    Fantastic car, giant upgrade over the odyssey. I’d love an E90 3 series as a second car

    I have things to fix on mine(I bought an unmaintained example as a project), but it's a 6 speed manual and enjoyable to drive. One of my favorites. That oil cap needs to be replaced, i had the same issue, and the N52 has to have the oil pan gasket replaced on occasion, watch the serpentine belt too, overall good engines if maintained

    A lot of things may be broken on it, but it's still classy.

      Usually the stuff broken is fairly minor. I’ve got a broken backup camera on my X5, just means I have to back up by looking out the back window like a real man

      Honestly, most BMWs age well. Look at the E39 5 series, E53 and E70 X5, E60 5 series and the E90 3 series. These cars are approaching 20 years old and still have a timeless design.

    A Lexus IS from the 2nd generation would be a far better car than this generation 3 series.
    I'd argue that, that particular generation IS is a far better car in terms of material quality.
    Yes, the 3.0 i6 is a good motor, it's the other things that aren't great, like the interior you mentioned.

    • @Wg323
      @Wg323 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally, I think the Lexus doesn't look as good as this car. The lexus also had a lot of interior issues like a melting dash for which it had a recall, and personally I think the Lexus' interior didn't age quite as nicely, and it's just not going to be as fun to drive.

      I agree, I was deciding between the E90 3 series and the 2nd IS to replace my 2006 X3 a year ago. I went with the IS because of the reliability, comfort, and it’s literally just as fun to drive as a BMW. It’s a softer 3 series I think. As someone who spent a lot time with BMWs and having own one. The interior feels like it’s about to fall apart and they rattle like hell. Especially over bumps. My Lexus doesn’t rattle at all at 15 years old. The melting dash issue on the is can be solved by getting a dash mat or windshield cover. At least, they offered a warranty to replace it. Lexus loves their customers. I’d rather my “melting dash” (which it isn’t melting bc the last owner replaced it and kept it out the sun) over much bigger and expensive electrical and mechanical issues. The 3.0 I6 motor is solid itself on the BMW but the parts surrounding it are crap. Also, the features on the IS absolutely destroy the 3 series too. The interior aged fine on the IS. I’d say the 3 series is probably more roomy tho. If you’re going to buy a BMW, get a new or a used one 3 years old max. Even Mercedes is better.

      @@fldashxam I drive an E90 three series and my interior is built extremely well, not a rattle out of it lol. it's a 6-Speed Manual one so a lot of fun to drive, definitely more fun than any Lexus. Which whenever I see in the road (which is pretty rare) they're driven by over 60s. I didn't even consider a Lexus when purchasing my car because they simply don't compare.
