I just bought a 2005 model with the 2.5 litre 6 cylinder engine and I'm amazed by how good it is. It drives better than modern cars and it feels so solid and top quality. What a car.
To cancel the signal light, just tap the lever in the SAME direction as it is currently indicating, the signal cancels with no danger of a contraindicator. I drive an '08 328xi, it drives as well as the day I drove it off the lot. I still love driving it. I live in Canada and always stored my car over winter and only started winter driving it 2 years ago. I'm kicking myself now; it is the most amazing winter car! The stance of the car, great weight distribution and the all wheel drive make it a great, safe winter performer.
Owner for 4 years. The lci fixed most of what needed improving The chassis of the e90 sublime build quality and rigidity. The turning circle and many intricacies on the Lci version.. are fantastic. The drive from n47 181bhp.. is legit. If your servicing with the best oils and parts. Runs effortlessly. Seen your Benz bud. C250. Definitely want that. What a car
Hi I’m looking into buying one these as cheap run around. Would you still recommend it? Have you had any issues yet. The 4 cylinder cars are notorious with timing chain issues.TIA
On my 3rd e90, last one was a pre lci 320d that I took to 277000 miles, my latest is a lci 318i m sport, full service history and I change oil every 5000 miles, I can see me owning this forever, personally I can’t seem to find a new car that looks better than what I’ve got now, I love it
I’ve got the 318i from 2008 and I have this car for almost 6 years and I still enjoy driving this car. It’s just an 318i with 143hp but it drives fantastic with minimal issues
Mine just passed 100K miles US and it still thrills. That naturally aspirated 6 speed manual is a pleasure in the California coastal mountains. Cures me of Porsche envy.
Happily owned a brand new 330i E90 back in 2005 with sport and premium package. And the best part, with all three pedals. Put on 48k miles in 2 years. Turned heads like no other, and drove like a dream. Wish I still had it.
Iv got e90 318i car. I was mell maintaning it for years with really small money imput. Last year i was struggelling a bit financially. Few things go wrong on it. Mainly as everybody know oil leaks but slowly renewing it by myself to get it run nice and smooth again. It have 165K miles on it and before oil leaks starts has absolutelly no problems. Love the car and amazed with the sturdy driving whell. Makes me feel like i really have great control over the car.
@@JJonCars yeah you can get a decent / high spec low mileage one with full history for around £10K - which is good in the current climate I reckon. There’s also well nice E39s for similar price about, so I’m torn 😊 I have an E46 328 at the mo.
N52 is legendary of the beleaguered N-series engines. it's pretty much fine for any occasion without the N54 headaches despite the massive tuning potential
I own 330i. Magical car. I´ve driven newer 3-series models and maybe I´m just sentimental but every time I´ve sat in my own car afterwards, it just feels so much different - the car is like built around the driver and the sound from that naturally aspirated engine... And about the design - Joji Nagashima designed E39 and Z3 - both legendary BMW-s. I`m more than sure that E90`s time will come. Such an elegant car.
@@MM-su4gu So far (fortunately, knock on wood) it`s been very reasonable - just the basic maintenance after every 10 000 km. My car`s mileage is around 280 000 km and fortunately I`ve only had to do small repairs (changing water pump or some small air vent pipe).
I have been driving mine for the past 5 years now....I would say the 320d was the best choice ive made...it drives smoothly and comfortably. I just reached 300,000 km last week
Happy owner of a 320i LCI E91 and what a lovely machine, nothing nowadays drives like it does.. I've got it very well maintained but lucky there are some specialists now..
I have a 2005 325i and I've been driving it for 3 years now. It's such a nicely built, solid car. Absolutely fun to drive on twisty country roads here in New Zealand. And because it's an enthusiast's car, there's tonnes of DIY videos to fix almost anything. I've replaced my Oil filter housing gasket and oil cooler gasket myself, and a rear window regulator as well, without any prior car maintenance experience. I got it with 104,000kms on it and had the water pump and thermostat replaced right away by a shop. So now I don't have any critical items to worry about, except maybe for the alternator and AC compressor next. I only wish I got a manual instead of an automatic, but those are hard to find in my part of the woods.
That's a really good point about it being an enthusiast car and there being vids on how to fix and replace stuff - not all cars have got that kind of content out there for them :) Nice one!
I also own a E90 2007 325i msport, I got it in December 2022 … I have put 15000 km on it , it is currently at 142000 kilometers It does not give me problems and no leakages, except for the AC failure!
I own a 2005 320i 150hp-sport suspension,angel eyes,big idrive,sport interior,almost all was thinking sporting,6manual with short gear,sport,of corse❤ Such a nice car
This is by far one of the best 3 series but behind the e46. I remember I grew up with this car when my family use to have it for a decade. Absolute legendary car
I have a E90 320d 2010 and i have done 165,000 miles i have changes things here and there but its a great car. I cant see myself replacing it anytime soon.
I’ve got a 14 year old E90 320d “M sport” with 180,000 miles on the clock. Every time I think I’m going to move on from it, after every service or MOT, I always find myself happy that I haven’t and that I just keep it going. Having driven more recent models as hire cars, I feel like this was a high point for the marque, a period when driver engagement and technological complication were still in balance with each other. Newer BMW cars, for all their electronic interfaces, ironically make me feel very disconnected from what it is that I’m actually doing, which is not selecting a tune from iTunes, or gazing at a tablet-like satnav screen, but driving a car. And funny old thing, I want to feel like I’m driving a car.
It is a terrific car, and I love the interior. It's a very modern car but it's also very pleasant to look at and to be inside. I just wish the ground clearance was a bit higher.
I have e90 or 2007 bmw 335i twin turbo that has over 201 thousand miles on original everything except the radiator which I just replaced at 200 thousand. It's been so reliable and even with the miles it has on it now it's still like new driving wise and handling and also just overall everything has held up extremely well!!! I still have original injectors and turbos on it. The refined gearing , motor, trans is just magical with these cars and work so good together!! It makes so much low end torque it's unrealistic and still fast even compared to today's cars but I also can get 34mpg on the highway which is just Amazing!! Best overall vehicle experience I have ever had hands down and I will never be without one now!!
I have only had the car for just over a year but everything I have looked at on it has been original down to the 01 index injectors and the radiator I changed out was original 2007 build date on it as well. It's my first bmw and I was born a Mopar guy lol.. I do all my own work on everything and this car has won me over lol. It does everything so good which is strange really being you usually give up hp for fuel economy or give up ride quality for handling but this 335i just takes everything in stride and does it easily. I tell everyone that she's (bmw) has some nice curves, is easy in the eyes, does mind being drove hard and put up wet, like a lady on the street but a freak on the strip but can be a little.high maintenance sometimes lol.
Recently bought a 2011 323i with only 99k km. Drives superbly and love it. Has M package also with sports seats, bumpers and lowered suspension. Looks great.
I have a pre-LCI 328i SULEV and I freaking love it. Done a lot of work to keep it up in shape but it's really slick. I actually washed and waxed it today. It's a mechanics car too. I've done new oem valve cover and gasket, oil filter housing gasket, vanos, front and rear pads and rotors, brake flushes, power steering flushes, transmission filter change plus fluid, spark plugs, coils, LKQ rear differential replacement, both small diff bushings, diff fluid flush, repaired cup holders, fixed some small vapor seal leaks on the door, new starter, water pump, thermostat, intake gaskets, washer fluid pump (fixed with epoxy) serp belt, tensioner and frequent full synthetic oil changes. As a strong mechanic type, I really like the way it is engineered. There are a few things that I don't like about the car but the pros certainly outweigh the cons.
Awesome, you're who all cars wish they had as an owner, lol. If you ever sell that someone will get a great car. Out of interest what don't you like about the car?
@@JJonCars Hard to say. I like so much on the car. Maybe things like a plastic valve cover but I honestly think with a lot of BMW engines longevity comes from frequent oil changes. I don't like that it has a sunroof and you have to finger clean the ports every decade. I don't like the fact that the car sustains any type of damage (had a critter cause like $600 in bumper damage). It makes me upset because I don't want that to happen to my beautiful car haha.
Bought a 2011 320d a year ago. 66000km, gold w champagne leather, sunroof, auto, i drive. Custom spec built in SA and shipped to Mumbai for BMW manager. He bought it to NZ in 2015. FSH and had it serviced when I bought it. They knew the car and told me about its history. Great to drive! Solid, planted & fast! Love beemers. Bought my first, a 2002, in 1976.
Had my 320D 06 (4 door)for almost 10 years now, I’m ashamed to say I don’t service it as much as I should have, probs a couple of times lol. I’ve done good on mileage, bought on 92,000 and it’s now on 140,000, it’s got recent minor problems that I’ve ignored but it keeps going 🤞🏼 it came remapped, I don’t poodle about, a lot of time my foots to the floor pulling in my seat through gears (never gets old) I’ve had a 3 piece clutch kit dual mass flywheel, recon turbo, prop doughnuts front and back done, and swirl flaps removed ( a must ) also thermostat, just changed front shocks for first time, discs last year, 1 caliper. it’s always ready to perform when I want it too, was my first nice car and my first BMW. Can see why there so loved❤ best series year and model out all the series from stories I’ve heard from other years and models.
Many thanks JJ for another excellent video. However, you are going to have to stop this because you have a way of making me want most of the cars you have reviewed such as this one, the E46, the saabs, octavia older and newer, the passat, the honda legend and the volvo 4x4 estate. Absolutely look forward to your videos.
I have a 2006 320d msport with 2 previous owners and full service history. I’ve owned the car for two years and it has been faultless the whole time. Bought it for £2600 with 94000 on the clock, one of my best ever purchases! Did 150 miles in it today which was nice!
Nice video. I’m still driving my 2008 BMW 335i with 144,500 miles. It’s my daily driver and I love driving that car. As with any car, it does require regular maintenance and some can be expensive. I do vast majority of my services at the dealer to ensure everything is done correctly. I might pass it on to my son in the near future as he gets his drivers license. I just have to figure out which BMW to get next. Definitely one with a B58 engine.
I have a 2008 335i sport and still LOVE it like the first day I got it. I still do double takes when I park and walk away. And it still has enough juice to have fun on the road. Now the 328 is another story...lol..Kidding!
Yess I love that people are talking about these things more! I love my e92 328 xdrive ! N52 is the perfect blend of practicality and fun, I have no complaints ! A lot of the jobs on these cars are very easily done DIY!
I've owned my e90 2006 325i 3.0 zf trans for about 3 years now and its been really reliable after getting all services done and keeping up on the maintenance, its got about 175,000 miles and she still drives strong! N52's are no doubt reliable engines ill keep my e90 till the wheels fall off.
I have a 2011 316d, obd optimized to 190 hp. It is fast enough and sips diesel. I get 5l/100 km mixed and 4-4,5 in highway driving. As long as you keep it under 110-120 km/h. Great car.
Own a ‘11 320d LCI from new. The car is still like new, no issues over 80k kms even the interior still have a new leather smell when I open the door. The 380nm keeps me happy, even after all these years owning it. Will pass it on to my son when it’s time.😂
Just purchased a 2006 E90 325i SE , picking it up next week, just needs a replacement stereo head unit and a rear electric window sorting before I collect it, looking forward to giving it a rag around Cornwall 😁
I have E93 ,still best looking for me cabrio with hard roof (i would never buy with out metal roof) ,i have 19 inch on it so ride is little bit "hard" but looks much better. IT has 210 000 km on it and all works for now ,its manual petrol so consumption is on high side ,i awerage 15l/100 km mostly town
I have a US-spec 2011 E90 335i MSport with manual, no Idrive, xenon, HK sound that I picked up at the factory when new through the European Delivery program. Drove around Bavaria then dropped off at Munich airport. It showed up at Atlanta, Georgia dealership one month later. I’ve replaced some of the soggier suspension bits with OEM M3 spec. Very nice car that is a great daily driver. The steering is better then newer models with electric power steering and the size is more to my liking than the larger versions built since. The N55 can be frustrating with blown up plastic charge pipe and other known issues, but the independent BMW shop I use post-warranty has done a good job keeping up with it. The owner of the shop is a former dealer tech and says that N54/N55 engines have to be maintained like M cars to keep this at bay. BMW started recommending some sensor-based nonsense to determine oil change intervals here in the US. Some cars didn’t get their first oil change until 17k miles, along with ‘lifetime’ diff service and long transmission service intervals as well. The result has been predictable for many of these cars. I changed oil at 1200 miles, then 5k, and every 5k or annually since. Diff and trans doneat 5k and every 30k afterwards. If maintenance is done the way BMW used to recommend, the drivetrain can be reliable.
Really enjoyed watching this. I’ve owned an E90 M Sport LCI for a few years now and love it. I like: the styling, boot space, ease of getting comfortable behind the wheel, no nonsense German flavour of interior, the solid steering, the 50:50 handling feel, the braking feel, the straightforward instruments, the MPG needle, not hard to work on, the funky cup holders, the indicators (weird?), the halo sidelights. Don’t like: no dipstick, glovebox a little small, no pockets on seat or door pockets in back, driver’s footwell a little cramped. Overall I bet it’ll go down as a brilliant car from a brilliant decade of naughties car design!
I own both a 318 and a 320d and fully satisfied with the comfort and reliability of each both bough used at 12 years of age. Maintenance is key and driving pleasure they will bring
Hi JJ. Yeah, I'm with the motoring press on this and have never been a fan of the design, great car that it undoubtedly is. It also obviously suffers from the BMW way of listing everything you'd possibly want as an optional and probably costly extra. Having said all that, these 3 series always seemed larger and more spacious than you imagined they'd be so big tick for that and if someone offered me one at the right price, of course I'd be delighted to drive one. I see that now BSJJ is a business exec', he's calmed his hair down! Cheers.
Yep, I think it's the kidney grille area for me that's not quite right. But from some angles I quite like the looks of it. It is surprising how much space there is, much better than a lot of other cars I've tested. I'm sure BSJJ will be up to something completely different next time, can't get him to stick to anything 😄 Cheers John!
I have the 330i variant, been my favourite car to date. Absolutely lovely car to drive that is capable on the twisties , refined enough to do long commutes and an very competent daily - plenty of boot space and decent cabin space. Mine is finished with piano black trim and complemented by beige leathers, still looks fresh all these years on, hard to believe this was available 20 years ago.
Hi JJ, JUst become the new owner of the 12 year old 318se. I have come from an E46 330ci & then for the past 5 years a 3.0D X5 E53, so I really didnt know what to expect with this. What a pleasant surprise, it has full service history & drives really well, very quiet & no knocks or bangs, feels very refined even with 144,000 miles on the clock. I dont like the absence of a dipstick or the fact there is no temperature gauge but that apart I am really impressed with it.
Nice one Dennis - they're good aren't they. Sounds like you've bought a good one that has been cared for, as they can soldier on a long time if they are maintained right. The E46 is a nice car but the E90 does feel a lot more modern.
I have a E93 330XD from 2006. It has undercarridge from Alpina and front seats from Recaro with compressor operated cusions. Most used for driving from Norway to Italy/France and back. I'm working may way through it now to put it back in 'technical supreme condition', sort of. Milage shye of 100k miles. Not for sale. A perfect driving machiene on autobahn and roads in the Alps.
I have owned my 2007 E90 323i for around 7 years and the car now has a bit over 230,000kms. About 6 months ago the original engine died and so I went through the very expensive option of replacing the engine with a low km good condition 2nd hand engine. In many ways economically it didn’t really make sense to this but I did regardless as I enjoy the car, and couldn’t stand the idea of sending it to the wreckers. Sadly the paintwork on the roof, bonnet and boot are all starting to fail and so that too will be a costly repair. I know not worth doing from a financial perspective but when I can afford it, I will get it sorted out. Overall, it’s been a good experience with the car and I must say when out on the open road it’s a real pleasure to drive.
It doesn't have to be economically viable to save these cars, I know exactly how you feel. Other people won't understand the connection that 'car people' get with their car. A friend of mine spent £1000s on his E90, and still never had anything bad to say about it. Great cars and like any machine, they need maintenance :)
My uncle had two of these both the LCI and previous gen 320d absolute tanks these cars were I don’t care what anyone says and not to mention the elegant yet classy look about these still in 2023. My dad currently has one too but it’s a 318i automatic 😎😎beautiful machines
Got a 335i saloon a few months back and had at the time around 126k miles- loads of mods in it internally although cosmetically other than an upgraded exhaust and wheels and lowering springs it stock. Its at 132k miles, and its become my favorite car to drive. Such spirit went into designing it. Shame what has happened to BMW recently.
If the indicators are anything like my 1 series, you cancel them by tapping it in the SAME direction as you are indicating.. took me a while to find that out! Im currently in search of a car and an E93 (330/35i) is on my list... i love the folding hardtop, which also puts the 350SL on the list... id really like an XK8 (the 4.2 ideally) but i think id really struggle with my narrow and tight parking arrangement! Any other convertibles that have 6+ cylinders, a bit of poke and character that you can think of? bonus points for 4 seats! Great video once again! Cheers, Keep up the great work !
Ohh really! will have to try that out next I find myself behind the wheel of a Beemer of this era. Much more usable, but not intuitive at all haha. Convertibles that spring to mind: Mercedes CLK or E-Class Convertible, both have 4 seats that will just about fit adults in the back, and huge engines available too. Both soft tops though. Thanks! :)
@@JJonCars No, but now i know how it works, I find it way better than most other cars, where you tap the opposite way! I had thought of the CLK, definately one to go look at. I hadnt thought of the E class though, though it may be a bit big...cheers for the reccomendation!
I have a 2007 e92 which I bought in Feb 2016. It's a 325d with tiptronic gear change and it only had 22,760 genuine miles on the clock. Full leather sat nav electric seats and more. A real wolf in sheep's clothing, with 197 bhp it's proper drivers car the handling is superb.17 inch low profile tyres and the 0 to 62 feels quicker than 8.5 secs.
Quicker than 8,5 seconds yes. I have a 2006 e90 325d with 197hp too, it does 0-62(100km/h) in about 7,5 seconds. Well maintained all these years, however some of the electronics are a little fucked. Other than that it still runs like a beast.
Owned mine for 3 years and had issues yearly. All really weird issues too but that happens if you get your car bought for you 😂😂 (uncle). Had issues with my control arms literally tearing in half. Constant issues with suspension (broken sway bars) and had an issue with a brake caliper that kept seizing despite changing it. Even my garage were stumped on the issue. Ultimately sold it for cheap and have been torn about buying another one. Loved the car despite everything, suprisingly always turned on, had 0 issues with the ignition and kept on top of the maintainance i could afford. Hoping to get into a type r now, something with just as much perf as the 320d with more reliability.
I have a 2005 and I wish I had bought the 2012 which was the last of this line. It might not be the most hi-tech or fastest but I just love how it handles.
Like your style JJ 👍 I have a 55 plate 325i E90. I got lucky when I bought it 'by accident' (was actually looking for an E46). It turns out that this year/model is less likely to suffer water pump failure and rusting of rear subframe mounts is not an issue. My CC fan was not working, however: I was told that this was a difficult and expensive fix but I did it myself in half an hour for nothing...20 minutes on eBay, two screws, 10 minutes of fiddling, job done. No OBD faults at 140k miles. Apart from bricked frm module (reverse lights don't work) the car is perfect. It handles beautifully, pulls like a train and revs freely to redline. If buying again, I might look for the 3 litre, but the 3 stage intake means there is more to go wrong...imho. Only car which I would consider changing to would be a Porsche but they are out of my reach... probably a good thing!
You share my exact thoughts on the e90...dynamically brilliant cars,so much so i have an e90 320d on 195k,an e92 330i on 255k and recently aquired another e90 that a neighbour was replacing(couldnt let it be scrapped!)on 175k...I've had an e46 330d(348k) which i loved and an e36 328i saloon(i have owned other nice cars) but safe to say i like a 3 series such a good all rounder
Great video! I really need to comment on the part about the indicators. I'm sorry to tell you that you did not understand the system properly with regard to cancelling the indicator. You are supposed to press it slightly in the SAME direction as the side that is actually on, i.e. the side you want to cancel. In my opinion, and I have owned an e90 for almost 8 years now (still going very strong without any problems), the indicator system is the best in car history, once you know how it works!
I'm currently learning to drive in my Dad's 07' 320d E91 estate touring and its a real challenge coming from the driving instructors car. Especially since it's done 197,000 miles on the clock and with the heavy steering! But I must say its never not fun to drive! This will be my first car so I think I've got a lot to look forward to in it!
I feel inclined to make a video of my experience with my e90 after 4 years. Total cost of parts about 2500 not including normal wear and tear like brakes and spark plugs tires. I’ve done all the work myself and I redlined it almost every time I drove it. Still have it today running a shorter belt bypassing the alternator which is putting more strain on alternator pully causing some knocking on startups but other than that engine purs eats of the highways and turns and I’ve driven the crap out of her. 165k got her 100k and honestly very confident I’ll get to 200k without having to change the way I drive. Great car idc what anyone says.
I've bought one year and a half ago a 320d E90 Msport in very good condition with 105.000miles. Good handling, very quiet on the road and beautiful with the dakota leather. The only issue is that I've got an high oil consumption: I need to add almost 1L of oil every 2500 miles. PCV valve changed, engine runs smooth, turbo never changed (still the original from the 2005) Engine m47 163cv...any advice?
I ran a manual 2005 E91 320d M Sport for 9 years. Took it to 238k miles with very few issues but I did service it every 10k miles. Best car I've owned and really miss it. It would still be going now if I hadn't bumped it but I had some great A/Broad drives in it along the way. Running a 17 plate Merc B Class at the mo and it feels dead at the wheel compared to the BMW despite it being more modern with better tech but it just doesn't make you grin or look forward to the drive like the BMW did.
Feeling dead at the wheel is because of the more modern tech. Electric power steering ruined the steering of 99% of cars out there. The E90 was the last 3-series that was good to drive - because it still had proper steering.
I’ve just bought one of these a couple of days ago with 205 thousand miles on it! I did think the steering was a little bit heavy and lacked fluid, maybe the case still but after watching this I’m guessing it’s just heavy in general, I’ve gone from driving my mothers 15 plate Tiguan haha
I have an E91 320d 2007 model M47TU2D20, Sapphire Black with gloss black kidney grills that looks stock with the car's paint and OEM E91 Blackline tail lights and angel eyes. Set on 17" OEM style 187 and style 284 with spacers on the rear axle. M Sport interior with the black roofliner, sport steering wheel and sport gear knob. No iDrive which I'm fine with and no cup holders which can be a pain sometimes. I do have nets at the back of my sport seats with inflatable cushioning for the sides and the back. Since my brother owned it and I afterwards it's always been serviced decent, he however did some mods that I've turned back stock again. It's on Bilstein B4 and the whole underside has been renewed since 10.000km ago. It did 232km/h this summer on the German highway even though it's stock. I felt it could do a tiny little bit more but traffic came ahead, normally it's limited to 223km/h. 270.000k right now and there's nothing wrong with it, my garage says it can easily go for another 10 15 years. As someone mentioned here in the comments, if you push your indicator the same way back it stops blinking which is quite handy.
Nice one. Agree that you're not missing out without iDrive :) That is good to know about the indicator, it's not quite as badly designed as I thought haha
I have the e90 pre lci 320dse with same engine, remapped it and its smoothed it out and made it surprisingly quick, i did the same as you, full m sport leather interior with electric bolsters m sport wheel and a copy f series gearknob that feels great and added the black bamboo wood trim, i love it but it has been going through abs sensors on the back wheel so probably will need a new driveshaft that won't be cheap, apart from this though its been reliable.
Got a 2005 325i in November, is bad in many ways, paint, seats, leaks everywhere, but took a gamble because of these two wordsn MANUAL GEARBOX. It was only one of three for sale in Australia at the time. The rest are just 320i models that obviously don’t have the sonorous I6 sound.
I’be been driving e90 lci 320d more than 1 year. It was 200k km mileage, and now it is 226k km.. 😂 I spent around 3 thousands euro to fix some powertrain parts such as transmission and engine oil leakage .. etc… etc… This car is definitely great car especially driving wheel is bery heavy unlike other cars thesedays. I do recommend this car even though now this car need to be maintained and fixed for many occasions, but I believe money for it should be worth it.
Great machines indeed. I have an E91 pre-LCI 325d M-Sport, but on SE 17s. It could be a little bigger (but which car can't be ; I had a MkIV Mondeo Estate before this), but it's a perfect size generally for a daily driver. I also have the veneberable M57 in mine, which is pretty good. Mine is now on 152k and ising.
I have 2008 328XI Sedan with 75K miles - bought her new in Summer of 2008. The ride is excellent, brake is very good - I think this Gen of Series 3 have much better brake than the later Gen cars IMO. Maintenance wise, nothing is unexpected, new water pump, Ing coils, plugs, belt, oil seal/gasket, knickknack parts will be needed at some point as she ages. The only regret is that... we should have got a wagon (E91) instead of a Sedan E90.
ive got an e82 118d which does share a lot with an e90 and its the N47 engine and havent had major trouble tbf, just two rear calipers its 2013 so havent had any timing chain issues unlike the 07-09 versions
My uncle owns a 320d on an 06 plate and has completed 195,000 faultless miles. Such a well made car.
I've got a 06 320i and it still feels better than a lot of new cars
Another here with a 320i msport. 140 thousand miles and still going, still the original timing chain too, which keeps things interesting!
I have an 06 330xi and it is so amazing so well designed.
Here with a 320i 2005,full sport model,such a taste and nice car,love it to drive it❤
I just bought a 2005 model with the 2.5 litre 6 cylinder engine and I'm amazed by how good it is. It drives better than modern cars and it feels so solid and top quality. What a car.
Ah yes, very nice. 6 cylinder all the way :)
@@JJonCars Yes , I bought one, it has been 2 months and it's an amazing car to have. Its a 325i
it is now 2024 and I’ve had my e90 since 2011. Still love it!
I've had my e92 320d since 2014... Love it!
Have mine since 2017
What problems that it's getting course there's someone want sell it to me so I want to know
To cancel the signal light, just tap the lever in the SAME direction as it is currently indicating, the signal cancels with no danger of a contraindicator.
2007 320d e90, 322k on the clock. Full service history. Hasn't skipped a beat.
Wow, that's great miles! No timing chain issues or anything? Perhaps it shows that if you service them properly, they will be OK...
I think his one might be one of the last M47s rather than the N47 engine.
Did you ever replace the EKP module?
Is it automatic or manual?
I'm planning to get an E90, 320d, 2008 automatic, does it worth it, and what will you recommend me please, thank you!
I have the e91 msport 2006 320d auto 330k trouble free , until the main water pipe broke , it’s a simple fix but labour intensive , love my wagon 👌
Why, does the pre-LCI have a bigger turning circle?
On my 3rd e90, last one was a pre lci 320d that I took to 277000 miles, my latest is a lci 318i m sport, full service history and I change oil every 5000 miles, I can see me owning this forever, personally I can’t seem to find a new car that looks better than what I’ve got now, I love it
That is decent miles! :)
which one do your recommend petrol or diesel and which version of them
I’ve got the 318i from 2008 and I have this car for almost 6 years and I still enjoy driving this car.
I had two separate 335s, one an xi and one an I model. 2007, 2008. They were exhilarating and precise. Great, honest review, JJ
335 👌 Cheers Simon!
I have this car, although the repair bill can be quite high sometimes, but it drives great, solid car.
Best car I've ever owned. Mine is going on 19 years. My Accord died at 13 years.
I've had an E91 318d LCI since 2010. Love every inch of it.
I've been looking to get another E46, but you flipped my mind completely; looking for an E90 now. Great video x
Good to hear it, the E90 is a bit unloved at the moment compared with the E46 but it will have its time for sure
How is it owning the car and the costs? I’m looking to get an e92 330i
@@MM-su4gu So far (fortunately, knock on wood) it`s been very reasonable - just the basic maintenance after every 10 000 km. My car`s mileage is around 280 000 km and fortunately I`ve only had to do small repairs (changing water pump or some small air vent pipe).
The key is finding an experienced and trustworthy repair shop.
I also own a E90 2007 325i msport, I got it in December 2022 … I have put 15000 km on it , it is currently at 142000 kilometers
It does not give me problems and no leakages, except for the AC failure!

Such a nice car
Excellent spec 👌
This is by far one of the best 3 series but behind the e46. I remember I grew up with this car when my family use to have it for a decade. Absolute legendary car
I have an E91 330d. Absolutely perfect car, last car was a E91 320d. Both are very high spec with Pan Roof and such. Can't beat them!
I have a E90 320d 2010 and i have done 165,000 miles i have changes things here and there but its a great car. I cant see myself replacing it anytime soon.
My father just bought a 2015 420 GC, and I inherited this from him. So happy!!!
Fully agree that it's the sweet spot era!
I gotta give it to you man, you're the the best car reviewer 😊
Well, thank you very much!
@@JJonCars you should do the Audi A3 next time
It is a terrific car, and I love the interior.
Wow, thats great. How long have you had the car? Very impressive milage and reliability.
Mine is 16 years old, still drive like the day i bought it!!!
I have a 07 e90 320d and I wouldn't change it not many problems with it and 270k on the clock and still going strong
Hahaha thanks David! Sorry, but not sorry 😄
Got a 2007 e90 320d a month ago (my first car) and I’m loving it. Not much can keep up with me on the road!
Great first car 👍

No issues. Just taken care of.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Sounds like we pretty much agree on everything there :)
I own both a 318 and a 320d and fully satisfied with the comfort and reliability of each both bough used at 12 years of age. Maintenance is key and driving pleasure they will bring
Great pair 👍
Buying my first 320d m sport today!! Excited
Nice, enjoy it!
f30 330d owner checking in, to make the claim that the e90 3-series was the last one that was truly great to drive.
That's interesting. The F3X series are good to drive, but first thing I noticed was how light the steering is compared to the old E30.
I'm sure BSJJ will be up to something completely different next time, can't get him to stick to anything 😄
Cheers John!
I remember watching your clk video years ago when i had a clk320, ive since switched to a bmw e39 530i and i love it
Ah nice, I think I remember you commenting. Sweet sweet car, will definitely get one on the channel at some point 👍
i have a low milage 325i 2008 . brought it 2 years ago at 28000 kms! i just love.
Wow, that is super low mileage! You gotta keep it forever :D
Where did you bring it to? 😊
Crazy how modern they feel isn't it!
@@JJonCars exactly
Yeah, they do still look good today 👍
Got a 335i saloon a few months back and had at the time around 126k miles- loads of mods in it internally although cosmetically other than an upgraded exhaust and wheels and lowering springs it stock. Its at 132k miles, and its become my favorite car to drive. Such spirit went into designing it. Shame what has happened to BMW recently.
2007 E90 Pre Lci 320i ..Still sliding side ways here in India...Less electronics more fun less headache...Cheers to German Engineering
I have a e90. Brilliant car
Convertibles that spring to mind:
Mercedes CLK or E-Class Convertible, both have 4 seats that will just about fit adults in the back, and huge engines available too.
Very nice, and very low miles!
You can always upgrade one day :)
Amazing Machines! I have to 325i and 325XI Love them both.
Like your style JJ 👍
I have a 55 plate 325i E90.
Thanks! Nice work on sorting it for nothing. Sounds like you've got a good one :)
I have the 323i and I love it 💯it's my first BMW and it made me a fan that's why I clicked on this video 😊
Awesome. Great car, thanks for clicking :)
I have a 2007 328xi, that just turned over 100k. I love the car and get compliments on it's looks.
Great car 👍 didn't get the xi models here :(
E90 320d 2011 owner, mine is amazing!!!! Love it!!!!!
How is the fuel economy?
@@ndlangamie2495 for diesel in UK, £0.17 per mile
@@ndlangamie2495 true mpg I would say around 50 for diesel, not the best
You share my exact thoughts on the e90...dynamically brilliant cars,so much so i have an e90 320d on 195k,an e92 330i on 255k and recently aquired another e90 that a neighbour was replacing(couldnt let it be scrapped!)on 175k...I've had an e46 330d(348k) which i loved and an e36 328i saloon(i have owned other nice cars) but safe to say i like a 3 series such a good all rounder
You are the E90 rescue service :)
@@JJonCarsJjust need to find a touring with a towbar and a convertible now haha...keep up the quality reviews
A 'proper car' haha. And very nice for a first car :)
That's amazing given how hard you're pushing the engine. You should make the video!
I have this car 06 M sport just had it all done up and it’s don’t 220000 and it still drives amazing
Great car indeed... i already have it for about 4years lots of technical and mechanical issues but managed to fix it ;)
I’ve just bought one of these a couple of days ago with 205 thousand miles on it! I did think the steering was a little bit heavy and lacked fluid, maybe the case still but after watching this I’m guessing it’s just heavy in general, I’ve gone from driving my mothers 15 plate Tiguan haha
My 2006 325i still better than new car. It look amazing and drive amazing. BMW for ever
2008 328xi 125k miles and still going!
Great, thanks! Just the car I've been considering lately, in coupe
The coupe is a truly great looking car 👍
Nice one. Agree that you're not missing out without iDrive :)
That is good to know about the indicator, it's not quite as badly designed as I thought haha
I love my E90 325i M3! ❤❤❤
Make sure you get sport seats in this car , they are amazing , in fact get it in every bmw
I’ve got an e90 325i 2005 beautiful car
Got a 2005 325i in November, is bad in many ways, paint, seats, leaks everywhere, but took a gamble because of these two wordsn MANUAL GEARBOX. It was only one of three for sale in Australia at the time. The rest are just 320i models that obviously don’t have the sonorous I6 sound.
Very nice! I6 with a manual, perfection.
I have an 06 325xi i love it
I’be been driving e90 lci 320d more than 1 year. It was 200k km mileage, and now it is 226k km.. 😂 I spent around 3 thousands euro to fix some powertrain parts such as transmission and engine oil leakage .. etc… etc…
This car is definitely great car especially driving wheel is bery heavy unlike other cars thesedays. I do recommend this car even though now this car need to be maintained and fixed for many occasions, but I believe money for it should be worth it.
Definitely worth it, thanks for keeping another one on the road 👍 I want to find an LCI to review now
Great machines indeed.
Most things will probably feel small compared to your Mk4 Mondeo estate, cavern of a boot in there haha. Nice one.
Oh nice, we didn't get the xi models for the E90 in the UK. Sounds like its been a good car for you
ive got an e82 118d which does share a lot with an e90 and its the N47 engine and havent had major trouble tbf, just two rear calipers its 2013 so havent had any timing chain issues unlike the 07-09 versions
I like those coupe 1 series, and the 2 series too.
