  • Our friend, @MattsOffRoadRecovery wants to go mountain biking with his kids, but he hasn't ridden a bike in ages, and is afraid he can't keep up. As it turns out though, Matt is a BMXer from way back, and knows how to handle a bike! In this video, we set Matt up with an E-Mountain Bike, and take him and his kids on a ride they'll never forget.

As soon as Mat stands up and starts pedalling, you can tell by his body he's a BMX bandit from years ago.

You can see the old BMX skills in Matt, especially the way he can balance the bike at low to no speed. I raced BMX back in the 90s, and I was one of the riders who signed the petition to get BMX into the Olympics.

I had high expectations for this collaboration and it exceeded them.
As a mountain bike guy who vista Hurricane for spring MTB trips this was super cool to see. A couple years ago I found Matt’s channel and it gave us the idea to adventure in Sand Hollow the last couple springs when we visited on SxS tours.
Seeing Matt’s joy on the ebike and the hope of him riding with his sons is just icing on the cake.
Thank you all for your work on putting this together.

this is exactly why i love e-bikes, there's so many people out there (me included) who know how to ride a bike from their childhood but don't necessarily have the fitness to encourage them to get out there and do it.
it's a new lease on life, if you've got the cash to get an e-mtb then absolutely do it, get out there and get some fresh air and remmeber how much you love it.

As as a fellow mountain biker about Matt's age, I wanted to stop him at the beginning of the ride and tell him that the breaks are your friend. When He almost didn't make it up the first ledge, I thought he was going to roll down backwards. Thanks for taking him out the experience the thrill of biking.

I'm impressed. Matt did a great job. I used to ride bikes a lot when I was a kid, into my early teens. But I topped out at close to 6'7", and with cars and girls on my mind, biking was left behind. After marriage, I liked the idea of the mountain biking scene coming up, but there are no mountains in eastern NC to speak of, plus I never found a bike that fit me. Now I'm old and clumsy, but I enjoy your videos. Thanks a lot.
