I learned that you actually make your own alcohol activated pallete literally what ever color you want from scratch. You just follow the same method you would with pax paints. One part pros aid adhesive and one part non toxic acrylic paint of your choice mix well then let mixture dry (in what ever container you want them to be in) all you have to do to reactivate the pigment is just 99 percent alcohol. If you want to keep it as Pax all you need to do is skip the last step and leave in and air tight container of your choice.
Thank you this is an awesome idea for us beginners. My teen daughters and I have a growing passion for FX makeup. One of my daughters has been told she has amazing talent and is now seriously considering going to a collage to learn to be a professional FX makeup artist.
Thank you Angie, great tip. I wonder if some final set or like product over might help with the longevity, then translucent powder, humm . I know I will certainly use this for practice. And honestly on some sets that have a super low, low budget, worth a try.
Can you do a video on the different kinds of face paints you use and whether they last long or crease, witch ones you perfer and what fx makeup and paint you use:) love your videos they inspired to do so many different and creative looks.
Thank you so much for all the links, this video is perfect because I am trying to build up my collection! I didn't even ever think about doing special effects makeup but after watching a lot of your videos I REALLY enjoy it :)
Thanks so much for this video! I'm trying to build a collection of SFX makeup & I'm sold w/the alcohol palettes! I'm just trying to decide on either Skin Illustrator or European Body Art brand.
Ooh this is a topic I love, I'm also obsessed with my alcohol activated palettes, the American Horror Story is a recent love of mine. Also have you tried the Brand Mr Dashbo? They're a cheaper alternative (especially for UK given that we pay upwards of £80 for the PPI ones) and a really good quality too. Another great tip when you don't need it to be waterproof/smudgeproof is using the greasepaints with moisturiser instead of alcohol, thins it down nicely which is handy for anyone who doesn't have access to IPA.
Omg this tip is awesome! I had been trying to find alternatives to alcohol based make up cause they are just sooo expensive..thanks a bunch! Btw you look really good with glasses on 😄
Thanks so much for the info! I have another question for you, when I do theatrical makeup I find it kind of soaks in my skin, what do i do so that it doesn't fade out so bad?
What, in your opinion, is the difference in quality between European Body Arts vs Skin Illustrator? I'm looking to dive into my first alcohol-based paint setup and noticed that EBA palettes were $20-25 cheaper than SI palettes. Is that just because SI is used more and therefore the price reflects it's popularity?
Brandon Moner You get less product from EBA But the quality is better but Skin illustrator is more expensive because of their popularity and they give more product
And now I am wondering wether thinned lipstick would make a great blush or not. I love to match my blush and lipstick so i often mix lipstick with foundation and use it on my cheeks but this might give it a different effect. I will so try this!
I've always wondered...why the 99% alcohol instead of the typical 70%? would you be able to do this trick with just plain old 70%? I can not find 99% anywhere!
You can use regular (70%) alcohol with the grease or cream paints to thin them out into a "wash". It will just take them longer to dry. However, the alcohol palettes are formulated to activate with 99% alcohol or higher only. You can buy the activator at a special FX shop which sells the palettes or order 99% ethyl alcohol online from Amazon or something. 99% ethyl alcohol is extremely flammable and not usually sold in stores. I think the highest they sell is 91% but it will not activate the palette.
70% is a better percentage for sanitising your brushes and makeup because 99% evaporates too quickly to kill germs thoroughly but for the alcohol activated palettes 99% is the one!
I enjoyed this but the music was louder than you were speaking making it difficult to hear what you was saying. I would cut the music next time. But don't stop teaching us.

Thank you!!!! Here, in Brazil, we can't find the Skin Illustrator or similar, but we have a lot of cheap creamy make up. Now, I can use it!!!!!!

I would love to see a black swan makeup tutorial! I love tour videos!
thank you so much! i bought a mini fx palette a few weeks ago but it was so expensive! so this was very helpful. x
Ben Nye makes me think of Bill Nye the science guy. O.O
Ben Nye the zombie guy XD
Thanks so much for the tip! I love the Cinema Secrets stacks, never thought of using them like this before.
Can you do a video about essential products to get for people who are starting in special fx makeup?!
For the cream makeup, you can set it with Final Set from Ben Nye c: it will reduce the smearing, and give the wear a little more time.
loved it...one of my favorite...from all your videos...
Thank you so much for all the links, this video is perfect because I am trying to build up my collection! I didn't even ever think about doing special effects makeup but after watching a lot of your videos I REALLY enjoy it :)

When I found out you made videos I have been watched most of the videos when I started to watch
Omg this tip is awesome! I had been trying to find alternatives to alcohol based make up cause they are just sooo expensive..thanks a bunch! Btw you look really good with glasses on 😄
Thank You sooooo much for this tip ! :D From the country where I'm from, it is way too expensive and difficult to purchase alcohol-based makeup
I'm so glad I found this! I've wanted an alcohol activated palette ever since I started with special effects but they're just wayy too expensive.
Awesome video, thank you. 😊
I think this issue with non-alcoholic paint could be dealt with simply by using a setting powder and barrier spray.
Thanks so much for this Angie!! X
This video just changed my life haha
Love it! What a great tip!! Thanks!
I want to do a Darth Maul look. Do you recommend those cinema secrets cream stacks or Is it true they work like party city paints?
What if you set the dupes with translucent powder? Would it have any effect on longevity?
I found to make like scars to use the things fo r braces like if the brackets come off you just wet it and shape it how you like
Extremely useful video! Thank you
Hi Angie, what stacks do you have from cinema secrets?XXXX
Angie can you make catrina tutorial (SUGAR SKULL) please!
Look through her videos she's already done some really cool ones
Thanks so much for the info! I have another question for you, when I do theatrical makeup I find it kind of soaks in my skin, what do i do so that it doesn't fade out so bad?

where do you get the little spatula? Or something like it?
Can you do this with water based paints
Thank you! That helped me ALOT:)
I will say I don't like the music in one ear and audio in the other, it's irritating
Very nice. Thank you so much.
Which video is the middle picture in your header picture thing
is the alcohol the same as anything u buy in the store for injuries or is it a special alcohol u need to buy fot the pallets
goldiestarling
Anlly Hernandez Yeah, it's the same alcohol you use for injuries, but you need 99% which is different from the usual 70% and 91% they usually sell.
Where did you get the paint palette
The background music is too loud and I can't really hear you talking on this video. D:
was just about to comment on this.
Margarita Llanas I have no problem hearing her voice
I had a problem because im listening with headphones- in one there's music and in the other her voice- woops!
Yeah, I also had problems while wearing headphones.
Yup. I was wearing headphones too!
Is that your natural haircolor? ;0;
It's soo pretty 3
Where did you get your ring?
Do you have to use 99% alcohol? I know its only sold online because of its toxicity but will 70% alcohol work okay?
Damn, thank you so much :D!!!
And now I am wondering wether thinned lipstick would make a great blush or not.
I love to match my blush and lipstick so i often mix lipstick with foundation and use it on my cheeks but this might give it a different effect. I will so try this!
Oh, and you look really great with those glasses!

For some reason I can't hear your voice, just the music :/

Try taking out your headphones, it's usually that
randomcrafter2000 hummm. i don't have any :(
Left headphones is her voice, right is her music
This video is really good and informative, but the audio is bad :/
I cant hear her either...just the music :(
I enjoyed this but the music was louder than you were speaking making it difficult to hear what you was saying. I would cut the music next time. But don't stop teaching us.
Cant make out what u are saying the music. Is louder than your voice
Are you using a single headphone? Her voice is only on one speaker...
Can´t hear what she is saying, just music...
put subtitles in Spanish :c
the sound is so messed up for me I can't watch this :s
Ugh I only wear headphones on the ear with the music, thats a really annoying way to edit a video
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
