Jim, PERFECT. $25 for the mirror, an hour of my time. And I didn't break any of the plastic parts trying to find the secret decoder ring to remove the door panel. Thank You.
Excellent guide. I just did this changeout this morning. 7 mm socket to get the door panel off, 11mm to get the mirror assembly.
Are those the only tools you need?

Jimthecarguy Hey there Jim! Here's my update: it all went great! To reiterate another user's comment, I only needed 7mm socket for the door panel and an 11mm for the nuts holding the mirror in, and lastly a flat head screwdriver to get the panels off. My explorer is a 2004 just like in the video. Thanks a bunch, only took me 45 minutes with your help!
Very interesting! My drivers side mirror broke off when a tree limb fell on it & I haven't had the money to get it done. I paid a mechanic $30 to replace the passenger mirror a couple of years ago. Is that a good price?

what about on a 2002 ford explorer, eddie bauer edition? my mirror got hit but was hanging by the wires and one of the wires was pulled out and looked frayed, i have my mirror taped on for now. thank you
I have a 2004 explorer 20 years old. Just as easy?
That's how you're supposed to get the window switch control panel out! Everyone always just says "lift up, it pulls right out" but I've never been told to remove the trim below it. Many thanks.

Thanks for the video. Your instructions were perfect. I did the whole thing in about one and one-half hours of time. Thanks. P.S. I wondered why you were testing the new unit after the door panel and all parts were re-assembled. I didn't trust myself so I tested it before I put it all back together.
Is it the same for the drivers side mirror?
Yes it is the same just a mirror image.
will it make a difference if he mirror is a heated mirror? will i have to do anything differently?
The mirror should bolt on the same but the plug may have different wiring .
There's some loose wiring that I have no idea where it goes behind the mirror. Do you think it's too damaged and that I may need a professional to put my new one on?
