It's still insane to me how hard Microsoft has tried to replace 4J's Console Editions with this glorified Pocket Edition port. Console Edition is fantastic - it has custom superflat and amplified worlds, official minigames, Java redstone, and a near-perfect UI for controllers. It's stable, loads fast, saves fast, doesn't crash, and doesn't take 5+ minutes to start the game. It has a proper tutorial world and you aren’t forced to save when exiting a world.
Bedrock is such an immeasurable downgrade to the Console Editions imo - I’m surprised that people haven't talked about it more. Not to mention that the Bedrock developers (a much larger team than 4J Studios, mind you) have had *years* to fix so many problems... but instead they focus on adding even more microtransactions like paid maps and "emotes" that shouldn't even be in the game. There are so many people who simply hope for 4J to update their game, but Microsoft is so money-hungry that they won't even allow that.

I've played console edition and bedrock on xbox, and I agree with the ui and loading times.
bedrock has a trash ui compared to console edition, and it takes way too long to even load the title screen for some reason. This might just be a preference too, but I think even the way console edition looks and feels is much better than bedrock.

I played on Wii U edition for years with friends with little to no problems, we switched over to switch, and it was, and still is, so much buggier.

That’s why Microsoft is trying to gaslight people into thinking Bedrock is the default version by calling Minecraft: Bedrock Edition simply “Minecraft”. Microsoft wants to make money by making newbies think Bedrock is the default version of the game so they buy the micro-transactions while keeping them away from the TRUE original Java Edition that gives the player limitless content for free.
The only thing holding bedrock back is that it was made to be played on a smartphone and THEN ported to consoles, so bedrock is essentially, a phone game
How is it still essentially a phone game? It originates from PE, but that doesn't mean it's still essentially one.

Me and my friend were playing Minecraft yesterday, and we decided to pearl through the bedrock layer to get to the roof of the Nether. We were playing on Bedrock Edition, but we had no idea that the height limit was only 128 blocks, which was the very top layer of the Nether roof. So we pearled through, and we got to the roof of the Nether, only to realize that the limit for building was 128 blocks. We couldn't place any blocks, which meant that we couldn't even build a portal to get out of the area. We were pretty much stuck there, on top of the roof, with no way out except to die. We both had a lot of valuable items, including enchanted Netherite gear, which we worked hard to get. My friend sent me a video to watch about how to break bedrock, but I had an even better, and more simple idea. Instead of trying to break bedrock via some sort of glitchy method, I would place a minecart with a hopper directly underneath a block of bedrock which was on y=128. This means that my friend was standing on top of the roof of the nether, and I placed the hopper minecart 1 block underneath him. I had to find a spot where there was only 1 block of bedrock underneath him, and I found just that. (And yes, in case you're wondering, my friend had to kill me, so that I could respawn in the Overworld, but I gave him all my valuables, including all of my max-enchanted Netherite gear, and then he killed me.) So I placed the hopper minecart underneath him, and I told him to stand on the coordinates where the hopper minecart was. Then he began to drop all the stuff, and the hopper minecart started to collect it. There was so much stuff, that I had to make a double-chest just to store it all. I only had 5 wood planks on me, and I used 4 to make a crafting table, but I asked my friend if he had any wood, and he happened to have EXACTLY 16 birch planks, so he drops them, I collect them from the hopper, and make a double chest. I then proceeded to swiftly collect the stuff that was being dropped into the hopper, and putting it all into the chest. Once my friend emptied his entire inventory, which contained both my stuff and his stuff, he then began to sprint, until he started to take hunger damage. The difficulty was set to hard, so he could starve to death, and once he died, he respawned in the Overworld, and he came back to the Nether. I told him to go to the coordinates where the chest was, but he decided to stay at the bottom, and we both dug a hole, which was near the chest that I was. I stood at the top of the hole, and I began to take all the stuff out of the chest. Whatever was mine I kept, and whatever belonged to my friend, I threw down the hole, and he was at the bottom, collecting the stuff being dropped. Once I sorted out everything, I took the two chests that made up the double chest, and we both returned to the Overworld.
Although we got out with all of our valuable stuff intact, there went our plans for building a gold farm on top of the Nether roof. In my opinion, I think they should definitely update the height limit for the Nether, because in Java edition, the height limit is 256 blocks, regardless of what dimension you are in.

If you log out and relog back in you know it puts you below the bedrock ceiling. This is funny lol
instead of having a nether roof with being able to build higher than that, the roof should just extend to 256
In Bedrock Edition chat is in the top left corner because this version firstly came from Pocket Edition, which had control buttons in the bottom left corner so your fingers would cover chat, but they could make it in the bottom left corner in other versions, or just make an option to move it
But they didn't coz they lazy I guess.

There are java ui packs and bottom chat packs that do this
you can move it just install a client and they do it texture packs fix them lol
They could just do like if UI profile is pocket the chat on top let corner and if UI profile is classic then the chat could be in the bottom left corner
From my experience I would say in bedrock edition the stronghold is either under a village or in the ocean that’s all
All the strongholds I’ve ever found have been under villages

he forgot to talk about the fact that bedrock edition limits mods and texture packs by adding a PAYWALL to a sandbox game.
Technically then bedrock edition have no mods the same way that it was on Java edition

the only thing I really really hate about Bedrock chat is that when you want to type something it opens a window instead of just a small black bar to type in, and sometimes it's not even selected so you have to click it. also another thing is that on Java your mouse position gets reset to the middle after closing a window, but in Bedrock it stays where it was when you closed the last window

another annoying thing is that the xbox wiiu and switch editions before bedrock came out all had custom flat worlds but bedrock doesnt that confused me as it could support old consoles like the xbox 360 and the wii u

The switch is worst
For me it’s just how janky and unpolished it is. The Legacy Console Edition of Minecraft was run by 4j Studios, who, imo, made the best, most polished edition of the game, with things like tutorial worlds, exit without saving and auto-save, continuous mob spawning no matter how many you killed, skipping the beginning credits, fast loads, etc.
Then, it was replaced by Bedrock Edition, which at the time, and basically still is, a port of the phone edition to consoles and Windows 10, which obviously doesn’t flow together well.
I wouldn’t even mind this, if 4j studios could help develop this new edition and help polish it up, but no, even after everything 4j did to bring new players to Minecraft and help build it up, Mojang said “lol no”, patted their head, gave them a cookie and told them to go make some maps in the marketplace.

As a bedrock redstoner, I am very upset with the lack of features in bedrock redstone. To name an important one is bud powering, a simple flush 2x2 flush piston door in Java is not at all simple in bedrock.
I like how you can move chests with a piston unlike java though.

The second question answered the first: You need Spectate Mode for Hardcore so you can see the world after you die.
Hardcore and Spectator are not connected in that way. Spectator mode after death in Hardcore is merely a feature of Hardcore mode. Spectator mode does not exist solely because of this feature.
But hardcore didn't have that option at the start lol
hardcore mode was in the game way before spectator mode but its nice you can fly around the world after you die
I'm pretty sure Hardcore existed BEFORE the introduction of Spectator. It was just added to Hardcore as a QoL feature.
For years in hardcore once you died the world was deleted no ifs no buts. Only after spectator mode was added, and not right after either was there any ability to view the world after death and hardcore felt no different at all. Its a feature in case you die and not needed for hardcore at all.
In order to use shields, you have to shift in bedrock.
Only a limited amount of items can be put in the off-hand slot (Shields, Totems, Arrows), you can't put blocks, tools, or even a bow in your off-hand slot.
Those are just 2 things that really bother me whenever I play bedrock.

I am aware bedrock is on mobile, and that it would be difficult to add new controls for the off-hand slot since mobile already requires both hands on the screen. All I was doing was mentioning a feature from java that is different in bedrock edition.
How would you use offhand on mobile?
Bedrock is meant to be a downgrade for the sake of being able to work multiple console with different brandings alongside a computer and a *phone*
I wouldn’t necessarily get too bent out of shape since if someone doesn’t like it they can either do java or suck it up with the cross platformer. As for skins/modding/that god forsaken market I got nothing to defend it

Well, Bedrock is all the way back on iPhone 5's, so many things have to be limited and managing to get 8 million blocks away from spawn before it breaks is very impressive.
Oh! So another GTA SA remastered where the game is extremely buggy and inferior to the original version in every regard? That tells me a lot about the people behind Bedrock's engine.

@@ikedog1405 In previous versions of Bedrock, you could fall from the world 2048 blocks out. Two thousand. That takes about 5 minutes to sprint-jump through.

For that last part: Well... somebody forgot the fact Bedrock was originally Pocket Edition, made for phones. Usually the touch dpad is on the bottom left, so the chatbox has to be on the top left instead. Though, an option to switch between chatbox positions would've been nice for Win10 and Console users.

And... Since then phone games have largely switched to use bottom center for chat box instead. Sure, there is the toolbar on Minecraft but there's kinda no reason why it's the toolbar that got to stay in the same place. You don't need to swap tools as often, and even if you do, wouldn't the right side being more suitable for that than the bottom center (which is easy to read but hard to tap on)?

This bothers me about alot of the community, many mobile users just say they have MCPE, but it hasn't been that since the better together update, and some are mad that mcpe doesn't get any love, then you explain it, sometimes they understand, or they just deny that it is the exact same.
Bedrock edition makes up Consoles, Phones, and even a lot of PC players. They shouldn’t hold back the entire game because playing on mobile is simply a less flexible and overall worse option imo. That’s like Bethesda removing modding for Skyrim SE on Xbox because you can’t do it on Switch
As a bedrock player, who has 0% access to Java because I'm broke, this video is very very interesting, in the best way possible
I play both Java and Bedrock and let me say that Bedrock is a shithole compared to Java. There are so many glitches easily fixable that have been there for as long as I've played. I hate Bedrock, the only reason I play it is because Microsoft forced ps4 players to start using Bedrock.

Although this is an old video, but i want to leave my thoughts:
In my opinion Minecraft Java Edition is a Mojangs game, an indie company that developed a game we love. (Even though they are being a little lazy).
And the Bedrock Edition is a Microsoft's game. Milking a sort-of spin-off of a good game. Screaming marketplace at you. A game that doesnt let you choose a older version, like Java does. And its very important, as so many players like playing an older version, like beta or alpha, or before the "big company" bought the good game.
So much things in bedrock are not free. The marketplace is controled by microsoft, and i think they get a share of the creator sellings. THEY created minecoins.
While in java you can get hundreds of thousands of modifications FOR FREE (textures, shaders, addons, mods, modpacks, maps, etc.), without doing shady stuff. Its just free. In servers there are things to buy, and some servers arr very greedy, thats not Mojangs fault, as they dont control the servers. Only thing they sell in java are the Realms, that is a server, as much others sites sell too.

Checking your survival bars in Bedrock will eventually lead to your neck snapping off, its nicely packed, but its horrible on Bedrock. The FPS is more and the game feels smoother, but it almost feels like the animations are covering the lag every time you click something cuz it feels smooth but not snappy, its like motion blur

Can’t forget that bedrock has its roots in pocket edition. Pocket Edition was always the weird cousin of what were the “PC and Console editions”.

It’s weird but it is unique and still feels like Minecraft, i just wish i could move around version in bedrock so that i could play on pocket edition again but unfortunately on an Apple device that is impossible, unless i’m jailbreak but Apple keep revoking 3rd party store so i have little chance to do it, the bedrock version just horrible, it’s just weird, or maybe cause i’m a boomer, but some small details like the heart blinking, flash animation when take damage and heal is gone, it’s still there in the files but it’s only appear when you take damages and sometimes not even visible, not to mention why the hand in first person mode get smaller after 1.12. On Java these things are not a problem, you could enjoying the game normally, I can’t play bedrock without a pack to fix the sounds and the GUI, at least bedrock is good in terms of customization via resource pack. Other than that, I didn’t see anything nice in this version honestly, but I can’t play Java because computer doesn’t exist

It's clear that Mojang rushed having Bedrock Edition be the main version of Minecraft back in 2017 with the Better Together Update. Ever since than they've been trying to clean up house, but they still have so much work to do! It's kinda disheartening to see that they add so many awesome creator features like the new custom blockmodels, but they should really look at some of the critical issues with Bedrock.
This is comming from someone who has been playing Bedrock Edition for 3 years.

I know this video was a few months ago, but I honestly love both java and bedrock editions.
While there are mostly flaws on the bedrock edition, I can't really blame mojang for it that much, I mean it was originally for players who can't afford to play minecraft on pc.

My $200 laptop from 2008 runs Java Edition better than your $1000 phone or $600 console that runs Bedrock. Not to mention Bedrock on PC costs the same $25 as Java on PC. So you are just lacking in the brain department if you bought Bedrock instead of Java.

I agree completely with your point Ant. To add to the topic minecraft bedrock on Switch is completely broken. The game will randomly crash, the server connections are garbage, Load times vary cause the switch cant handle it. You cant play most creator maps because its too much. The game just inst optimized for it and I never understood why Mojang didnt do anything about it since it's been released on it.

I wish the console editions were left alone and not killed off by better together. Bedrock is way too buggy. I played Java not too long ago and I had a lot of fun with it, i went back to bedrock and it felt..... lacking. I also played console edition and had a lot of fun there as well. If I want to play Minecraft on console then I’d play that, if i wanted to play Minecraft on pc then I’d play Java and if I wanted to play on mobile, I’d play an earlier version of PE, before better together. I’d say stick with the version you prefer overall, try to have a good time with your selected version.
@@bonesm Ye, honestly I feel like there should be some separation between the systems, as certain players have to play with specific disabilities based on their device, like with pocket u can't aim and attack at the same time, or on console ur rate at rotating ur head is constant. This just really hurts everyone except pc players who end up dominating in 90% of the games. Also, I'm really upset mojang didnt port the splitscreen feature onto pc. That was like the best minecraft feature ever!! Minecraft is the best when ur playing with ur friends, imo.

Yeah, but that’s the problem. Basically my entire friend group never has fun on Bedrock. PS4 edition just blows it out of the water in most areas. Plus, I’m a map maker, so I understand game design quite well, and bedrock just is not as fluid. But If others have fun, awesome. I personally just can’t imagine actually spending my time in bedrock.
10 things why this video is being biased because he's a Java player
1. Who the heck would go to 8 million blocks like most of the people who plays bedrock are casual kids or teens who uses phone like why seriously
2. Hardcore would be hard to apply to bedrock if it has glitch that may kill you instantly that may annoy players, because think of it bedrock is for casual and java is for advance players wake up
3. Like I said bedrock is for casual players why would you need f3 debug screen and some toggles on a "Phone" like think of it most who plays bedrock doesn't need that
4. The chat isn't on the bottom because most players plays on phone their Touch D-Pad will get blocked.
5. The nether roof isn't necessary because most people who play bedrock are "Casual Players"
6. Microsoft targets younger audiences on bedrock why would they need to make it advanced if they can just split bedrock casual audiences and java advance audiences.
7. The advance commands will be soon available on bedrock
8. Keep in mind that Bedrock is a multiplatform game so don't expect advance crap on a phone or console
9. Yes the minecoins or microtransaction is dumb but you don't need that because most players who get texture pack or mod can be downloaded on mcpedl, mediafire etc.
10. Bedrock server nowadays have been stabilised and its very smooth now

Java uses Java which is primitive compared to bedrocks c++ hence why bedrock runs a lot more smoother than Java and can also run on other devices. Mojang tried to make java on other platforms but they couldn't at least during the time

Some of the points in this video are good, but some are just wrong.
First, the reason that the chat is in the top left instead of the bottom is because it would cover up the entire control pad for touch players.
Also, every keyboard hotkey that was mentioned doesn’t really count as most players play on phone/console and hardly any on windows 10.
And the parts about it lacking hardcore mode and building on the nether roof is because it is mostly meant for casual players, not technical players who usually play java.
Also who on earth builds 30000000 blocks from spawn.
there are some clients in bedrock edition (Onix Client, Fate Client, Helix Client...) and some make chunk borders visible (and many other features) and there is a minecraft bedrock launcher where you can switch versions and some other stuff

Bedrock has a super annoying feature where pressing the pause button doesn't actually pause the game, so mobs can still kill you when you're paused. I learned that the hard way when I paused to take a break for a couple minutes and ended up losing all my stuff. I can understand something like that when playing multiplayer, but I was in singleplayer

Just log out and log back in the world it's easy as that

One issue with bedrock that I’ve always had and while it isn’t the most important it just has always bugged me, which is that it just looks like it’s made of plastic, everything being slightly off of how it is in Java in terms of looks, I can’t really place my finger on what specifically it is, but if you showed me the same build in Java and in bedrock (without the cords in top or anything like that) I could tell which one is bedrock.

If I am being completely honest most of these "features that should be added" are not needed what so ever. Like who would go 8mil blocks away from spawn? What are you gonna do in the nether roof? Build a house? OR SLEEP THERE?!?!?!? No, its completely unesessary. And the f3 debug menu is not there for 1 reason, mobile devices. OH YEAH IM GONNA TURN ON THE DEBUG MENU SO IT WILL COVER HALF OF MY SCREEN. Well I do agree on the spectator mode thing but only like 1/4 of people use that . My problem with MC BE is the "unable to connect" bug when trying to connect with friends. I've gone an entire year without being to play with him on our own worlds.

I think because of all these reasons and the fact that java is more stable, came first and has arguably more features (not counting paid bedrock mods, skins, datapacks, maps ECT.) That Java should have never lost its title of being the definitive version of the game. To me bedrock feels like minecraft but if your playing it through an emulator where someone made some changes to it as they pleased. It just isn't the main version of minecraft in my heart that raised me growing up. Overall I wish they would switch the names back but it's whatever at this point.

Nowadays hardcore mode actually just sets your character into spectator mode when you die for the 1st time, So it's more like it turns the world into a gallery of the progress you were able to attain.
You do have to take into account the programing difficulties that come with different languages it could turn out not as expected

Yeah I hate chatting on mobile version! It used to be so much easier but then they updated the chatting system and now it's nearly impossible to chat without being killed by a mob or by another player, not only that but now you have to click the chat button, type in what you want and send, and then you have to click out of the chat box in order to even move around.

As a command block user in bedrock. You should be able to memorize your chosen command text before coding it in the command block as there is no guide in it. It's like crafting before the receipt book was introduced to the game, all memorization.

Hey sorry I was mean but I'm assuming your either a new player or you switched from 4j studios old console edition of the game to bedrock and haven't switched to java edition yet. If your a new player you would not realize what they did to the version that was before bedrock existed I am a really old player and even I admit that the old xbox one/360 edition of the game was the best version even better than java and Microsoft basically used bedrock edition to kill off and make the xbox 360/one version basically obsolete and somewhat unobtainable. That version that was killed was basically my whole childhood and it was the primary version I played even now I only play java edition with a controller mod and a small "classic" sized world. These days the only reason I play Minecraft is to recapture the feeling of playing the old version of the game that I grew up with. If Microsoft just made all versions the legacy console editions of the game available to play I would be happy with that. Imagine if your primary version was made unpurchaseable and no one could or wanted to play the old version anymore.

Bedrock Edition is in a constant state of catch-up. As of right now, I would say the developers biggest priorities are releasing major updates along side Java Edition, and unfortunately the market place. I understand that the market place is a good source of revenue for not only the developers but the content creators as well, but the focus on the market place takes resources away from the base game itself. The major features missing, bugs, inconsistencies, poor UI, lack of settings, and inability to make custom worlds is inexcusable.

As a former bedrock player it did have it's pros, but the cons just frustrated me so much and the main thing that drove me to java when i eventually got my own computer and the money for a copy on it was the redstone inconsistencies, i like to think of myself as a mediocre Redstoner/Builder bedrock does deserve the name Bugrock but i miss of the features from it, I'm hoping to find a mod that implements all the positive stuff from Bedrock

I feel like a lot of the things that are on this list exist because bedrock edition was originally intended to be played on a phone. Also, as of recently, spectator mode is now an experimental feature in bedrock edition. Also, I think the “won’t fix” resolution on the bug tracker means that mojang can’t seem to fix, rather than them refusing to fix it, but I could be wrong.
The open-source nature of Java Edition is why I'll always prefer it. No limits on mods, resource packs, servers, etc... even if Microsoft's servers shut down, Java Edition will continue to have servers due to them being run by third parties.
And that's why they won't add the marketplace when they force us to switch to Microsoft accounts. They know Java players are used to messing with game files to add custom maps and resource packs and that if they added a store, all the paid resource packs, maps and skins would be up on planetminecraft in less than a week.

Hey just wanted to let you know, bedrock edition has updated like a lot you can be in spectator, and it is not so freaking broken
I just checked and there's no spectator mode still. Also, there's still a random fall damage glitch, infinite xp glitch with furnaces/smokers/blast-furnaces, inconsistent redstone timings, etc.
I mean it's not awful, and it's still minecraft, but from what I've seen it's not much better.
Spoiler alert: You can no longer stack XP in furnaces :(

The amount of bizarre bugs that I have personally encountered when playing with friends just make it so unappealing. The way that entities spawn, how common they spawn and the way they despawn out of existence randomly for example, a chunk border glitch that makes villagers despawn (that was discovered ages ago and still hasn't been fixed). The game kicking out other players when it's not in focus. The random tick speed being 1 for whatever reason. andd the audio mixing (why are certain tracks so quiet and why are certain sound effects so loud)
You totally forgot that this version is focused on Mobile devices so things like a chat at the left bottom would be covered with your finger, But yes these things can be covered with different Ui per device or just controller (like a keyboard)

Hardcore is in the code, but isn't fully functional due to the lack of Spectator.
Spectator is most likely being delayed until the Render Dragon engine is released, as it should fix most of those visual issues when noclipping.

A lot of the world limits should also be fixed with Render Dragon, because of the updates to rendering and model connections.
The reason chat isn't in bottom left is because of Bedrock Edition on mobile devices. It would either be in the middle of the screen, or be underneath the touch screen controls.
The option to move it to bottom left on console or Windows would be a nice addition though.

Bedrock may have some problems with Redstone, but they also have some unique mechanics dealing with power transmission and inversion that are more consistant and compact than Java versions. [I will add a link to one when I find the video again]

I had tried spectator mode(no clip) in bedrock and it is super buggy in rendering.
Also, bedrock has an official modding API, and it is compatible on several devices unlike java that is only compatibel on only MacOS, Windoes10, and Linux which is only PC while bedrock is in iOS, Android, Windows10, Xbox one, PS4, Nintendo switch, FireTV, Fire/Fire Phone, and You can play it in Gear VR and PSVR

They are adding SO MUCH in 1.16.100 for addons. And they showed TONS of creator tools on Minecraft Live.

For example: I want to change the durability of a custom tool, but I don't know how to do that, because Mojang doesn't tell you how. You have to do your own research. And even then, I can hardly find the right components and information to modify the game how I want.

I have also another big problem with Bedrock. Bedrock's whole menu style is imported from Pocket Edition, it doesn't work very well with Windows 10.
The chat location makes sense for bedrock because us phone user would be blocking the chat with our thumbs if it was at the bottom of the screen.
