That's so great that you got to try White Sapote fruit, Peter.
Awesome that you now have a bunch of more seeds to plant too. 👍🏽

Thanks, Dom! Yeah, it was great getting to try some white sapote fruits, I can see a lot of potential with this fruit, assuming a good cultivar is selected it could be incredible.
Yeah, I managed to get 13 seeds out of all those fruits, I don't expect all of them to grow, but even if only half of them germinate I'd be more than happy with that 👍

I think the jujube was slightly over-ripe, they get spongey as they ripen further until they dry out. I've had quite a few and I'm not that impressed by them. I think the white sapote on the other hand were picked too soon and under-ripe. I was very impressed by the ripe fruit I tried and it was very sweet. Unfortunately it disintegrates when properly ripe so can't be transported 😂.
I suspect the fruit came from an unnamed tree although I've heard seedlings generally produce decent quality edible fruit. The larger the fruit the more seeds they seem to contain, the named varieties appear to have the same amount of seeds in them 😁

Yeah, it was a shame the jujube wasn't at peak ripeness. Yes, I suspected the white sapotes were picked prematurely, but then again at least I managed to get to try some. Yeah, I guess the only way I'm going to try a perfectly ripe one is either from my own tree if I can eventually get a grafted one, or if I happen to go where they are grown and are in season.

Great that you’ve been able to try the White Sapote 🤩 probably picked too early though.
It’s great that we’re getting to taste these fruit here, and also grow them 😀

Thanks, Joe! Yeah, I am glad I've had the chance to try this fruit, although these ones lacked some sweetness, there were some very promising flavours in there that I enjoyed, so I can see the potential if the fruits were left on the tree to fully ripen. I can't wait to eventually be able to grow my own white sapote fruits 🤞

It's good you had the opportunity to try white sapote. Most named varieties are pretty delicious.

Hey G, thanks! Yeah, I was glad I've had a chance to try some. I think these were probably harvested a little early, but I at least have an idea of how they taste, so hopefully the named varieties will be even better when I can source some plants or scions to graft to my seedlings 🤞

Hi Peter, the jujube has this texture and taste, but it wasn't fully rippen I take it. Nice review on White sapote, definitely an interesting fruit and very creamy. The fact you can grow these as trees in UK is an extra bonus.

Hey, yeah unfortunately the jujube was very dry and virtually tasteless so I was pretty sure it wasn't properly ripe. I assumed it was ready because it had some softness to it. Yes, the white sapotes were enjoyable, I hope I can eventually set some named varieties to grow 🤞
