    Hello Everyone and thanks for watching!
    UPDATE: I bought a few more of the PNY SSD that I used in this video, I realized that they no longer come with an Acronis basic license. Therefore, if you are thinking about getting one for the Acronis License you will be disappointed. However, I have these other 2 videos where I clone a Hard drive to SSD using free software:
    1)Upgrade your HDD to SSD with Macrium:
    th-cam.com/video/VQ9jQd-SeJw/w-d-xo.html
    2) Upgrade your HDD to SSD with EaseUS:
    th-cam.com/video/4jH7EAHi_XA/w-d-xo.html
    Thanks!

    I just bought the SSD from PNY and put in the serial number of the hard drive and Acronis shows it is invalid

    I ordered PNY 120 gb ssd from best buy and nothing else came in a box. The S/N that's on the back of the box is 17 digit number and wouldn't let me activate the acronis cloning software.

    I just recently bought a 480 GB PNY SSD. I got no Acronis, nor any explanation on HoW to get it. i called PNY. They say they no longer offer the Acronis link! That's one of the reasons i bought it!

      Hello Rene,
      You are totally right, I just bought a few more PNY SSD, the same model as in the video for some laptops I need to replace the HDD and there is no longer an included Acronis basic license with it. Apparently they broke up the partnership. Now, I have some Acronis keys that came with the PNY SSDs I bought some months/years ago, i am not sure if they work because if I use them they become associated with the email address I provide. Anyway, if you would like to try whether it works or not just let me know and will copy the Acronis key to your response.

    Quick question if anyone knows, can this be properly used as just a one-time backup? Like, cloning the main drive into this SSD, then being able to take the cloned data off of the SDD and put back onto another drive?

    • @smokeydapear6893
      @smokeydapear6893 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Without having to physically install the SSD drive into the laptop itself

      @@smokeydapear6893 Hello,
      I think i am not understanding you question corrrctly....
      What i always advice after cloning and replacing you old HDD/SSD by a new SSD, is to keep the old one around for a few month as a backup, in the scenario that the new one dies for some weird reason. If that were to happen you would just put back the old one and it should work. Besides, if you delete some file on the new SSD you would be able to copy it from your old hard drive.
      Hope it helps

      My IT Workshop My use of it was for only a backup drive. Not to replace the main drive, just put the data on the SSD, fresh install windows, then take the backup data from the SSD back onto the main drive. I wasn’t sure if you were able to take the data back off the SSD drive

    Where did you get acronis key? I haven't found anything inside PNY box.

      Hello Артур Горький,
      The Acronis key is normally in a label attached on the plastic container where the SSD is placed inside the box or in the "manual" that also comes with the product. It is a 16 digit key.
      Also, on the box of the product there is a label that says: "Bonus True Image Data Migration Software"

      That's odd. Normally the Acronis key comes as a label on the plastic holder for the SSD.

    Is this faster than re installing Windows.??

    • @MyITWorkshop
      @MyITWorkshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello,
      Cloning your HDD to a SSD varies in time, depending on how much information you have. After that, you just replace the HDD and it starts working, if done correctly. Re-installing Windows 10 now a days is really fast since it comes with all the basic drivers. However, if you have a video card, games, documents, other software you have to install/copy them again from the old one to the new. For this particular case it was faster to clone it rather than installing windows again, copy all the files from the old computer to an external HDD and copy it back to the new and after that, install office and some the other apps.
      Hope it helps, as promised here is the code for Acronis basic license: LMVKAAQL-MKLTM8RB
      Have a great day!

      @@ripcitydripcity5035 Yeah, once installed just make regular backups, (mine runs every 2 weeks), on a different partition or external drive, that way you wont lose your important documents in the event of a blue screen of death.

      @@MyITWorkshop oh ok thanks for the heads up. I uploaded all my videos and to Dropbox. I'll have to set it up to run backups. How do u do that I have Windows 10?

    • @MyITWorkshop
      @MyITWorkshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ripcitydripcity5035 That's one way to do it, in my case i use Onedrive and Google drive. For the latter you can install the app on your computer which creates a folder with the Google drive logo, anything that you put in that folder is automatically sync/uploaded/backed up to my Google drive account on Google servers. Same case with One Drive that already comes installed on Win 10. However, I did not use Dropbox for some years now, but i remember they had a similar if not equal way to sync your document with your cloud account, just install the app, choose what folders you need to sync/upload and put all the data that you want to upload to the cloud in that folder, depending on the size and internet speed will take more of less time to do so, for videos based on quality and size will take, i think, a lot of time to sync.
      Acronis can also encrypt your files, so that's an extra layer of security, you would have to configure your backups to point to the folder that is sync with Dropbox, that way once the backup is done will be uploaded to the cloud, BUT again it will take a lot of space in the cloud and time to upload.
      Hope it helps!
