it´s impossible to explain how much i love this shit. i was 7 years old when i ve listened it for the first time. no remix from youtube can beat it ! the origininal has still best sound! greetz from germany
+Pete Van Berg Maybe you will change your mind when you hear this: soundcloud.com/mattgrayc64/matt-gray-last-ninja-2-the-street-loader-preview The master is back and revisits his original tunes with his kickstarter campaign.
The whole Last Ninja series was a milestone in gaming history at that time. I remember playing the first one and I was blown away! Is this really happening on the C64 I was thinking haha! Graphics where top notch and unseen before and the gameplay was great too. But the music, oh boy that music by Ben Daglish and Anthony Lees brought it even to a higher level then it already was. The music of LN2 was even better! Then LN3 came out....watched that legendary intro and i was BLOWN away again, really blown away! My mouth dropped to the floor haha. Wow, just wow! Unbelievable what all these guys pulled out of that C64 computer just unbeleivable. So many good and great memories I have of that time. It was awesome. Thank you guys!
When I listen to this song, I imagine the hero defeating the final boss, the damsel in distress embracing our pixelated hero. They arrive back in the normal world of United States, 1985. They get into his Red Delorean, and ride off into the sunset as the credits begin to role. Such an epic song.
WOW! 100% Pure Art and Genius. I think what the newer generation of gamers don't appreciate is that we'd load up this game (and countless others) just to listen to the intro music (cracktro these days :) ) and would load games just to listen to the amazing chip tunes. When most people were listening to just bleeps and boops... This is what we had on the C64... And I think even more important... despite this sounding like someone playing it on a synthesizer or with some serious equipment... IT'S 100% The SID Chip. Just a chip, in a PC. Composed without FL Studio or Trackers ... amazing!
When i was a kid if load up the games, stick a tape recorder in front of the speaker and record the music, lol better than loading a tape just for hte music, (i use to do the same with the tv thems and stuff)
In technicality, the sid chip is a relative to an actual synthesizer (architecturally speaking) I can't remember which chip its based off of. But that does mean that this chip was a real monster back in its day. And in hindsight was so powerful, that even its creator's didn't think it would be this powerful.
i was about 10 maybe less and when i saw rictures of LN i asked my elder bro to buy it, again and again (how great graphics cant u see) then one day he brought it, played many times and everytime was pleasure but couldnt finish because of TAPE(error) years later i tried to play with emulator on PC and when i finish 1.level and started to load level 2 this music came to my ears-my heart, my past bring suddenly and i said", know remember this melodie" years and years i couldnt forget
@Holodoc76 The C64 had a dedicated sound-generator chip containing three channels where each channel can be seen as a very small traditional synthesizer (Simple waveforms + filter). The Amiga, on the other hand, has 2+2 channels of PCM (custom samples). PCM may be more flexible, but it requires additional effects to be included in the samples on beforehand.
@@basicloner Absolutely, the series had some of the best production values, graphics and audio for its time. All three sound channels of the soundchip went into creating the music, so the c64 versions had no sound effects.
To make it absolutely clear: This great tune is not played during the time the C=64 is loading. You had to press the fire button on the joystick, then the music would stop and the loading would begin. The real loading time for a level of this game took about half a minute with a fast-loader.
@@talideon I agree the Amiga hasnt aged well music wise The C-64 had outclassed the Amiga in quite a few arcade ports and the SID chip is what made the 64 for me.
This tune reminds me of an old 80's pop song, but damn I've no idea what it was. Does it remind anyone else? - some sort of new romantic group like Depeche Mode, someone like that. Awesome song though, the whole soundtrack for LN2 was amazing, loved this game back in the day.
I realize I'm responding to a 4-year-old comment and you might not even see my reply, but... Elements of this song are based on "We Will Rock You" by Queen. :) When he was working on his "Re-Formation" album, Matt Gray acknowledged it with a clip called "The Streets Will Rock You". soundcloud.com/mattgrayc64/matt-gray-vs-queen-last-ninja-2-the-street-will-rock-you

No chance !!! The Original is better !!!
this is only 2015-remix, with the newest sound-machines .... THE ORIGINAL
STILL THE BEST
+Pete Van Berg this remix is great ,but the Original is still the best tune. You alright ;)
@Vikrinox this one is definitely better

True True True and True again!!! To all those who understand what Last Ninja was and became! BOW in honor of the 8 bit Gods!!!! 😂
Amazing tune. The Last Ninja series really is a treasure chest of great game music.

The Last Ninja soundtrack is just a step above everything else, timeless !
So relaxing, so peaceful, so... nostalgic even if I haven't even play that game!

I may never saw, nor used a C64. This, this is real god damn talent.
This has easily become my favorite Last Ninja tune, edging out Last Ninja 3's Earth theme. Very nice mix of ambient and melodic stuff here.
I CANNOT LIKE THIS MASTERPIECE ENOUGH
One of my favourite tracks in this game besides "The Mansion", "Central Park" and "The Office"
Amazing what they managed to pull out of the SID chip.
Liked this back in the day and it sounds good.
Good relax music after first levels high action
1:22 Here I am, pushing 50, still spontaneously headbanging to this part. Good stuff.

whats better than c64 music?
NOTHING!
WELL PUT. Couldn't had said it better myself
More C64 music!
Exactly
The Isolated Gamerz idk, VinylCheese’s cover of this on the N163 is pretty damn awesome.

That takes me back... Fantastic tune.

Chiptune perfection.
goes hard af
Best track, love it
were commodore 64 load times so long that they justified a whole tune dedicated to a loading screen?
Loading times were rough back then, so yeah. Not many games went to this effort though.
@@unclejubalon was the last ninja series thought of as cutting edge back when it was new?

I came, I heard, I wept.
All hail the SENSATIONAL SID chip, may its legacy continue ! :)
This is amazing and prood the SID chip could produce brillant tunes on the C-64 up to near Amiga quliaty.
Arguably, SID music has aged better. The Amiga sounded amazing at the time, but can sound rather thin and muffled these days.

Brilliant tune , and brilliant game ^^ matt grey is a genius..
First time i dont get it when i have to go cross the street! I was to small to get it that the lamp must be green and then cross the street!
