I'm 39 years old and still own the original Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 computers + games 😺👍🕹️. Sadly, my Commodore 64 doesn't work anymore 😿. Also, the old Commodore 64 and Amiga games even inspire me to draw my own comic fan arts - mostly the furry comic arts 😺🐰🦊.
hmm, for whatever reason this seems to bring back unrelated memories of a brown cliff face and a lot of camel sounds, and something about a number in the twenty thousands.
the way systems were limited back then (ram, cpu, etc), required composers and programmers to come out with clever ideas so they wouldn't use too much memory. as a programmer myself (for the modern times) it's fascinating what they achieved back then if you think about it nowadays. you have plenty of space in 4tb harddrives and 128gb ram PCs. not much imagination needed to save ram/performance
This was a great game, I ran all the way home from school to just play this game. In one of the levels (level 6 I think) if you waited for 15 seconds you could see superman fly in the sky.
I remember that I often played this game only to listen to the awesome soundtracks. Another game that I loves because of its great soundtrack was "Bangkok Knights". That´s my all time favorite ;)
those bees and the boat was tough. but with the long stick it was easy. passed the city level easily but the sewers was tough as space was cramped and plenty of places to fall and die. dang those ladders too!
Love this chiptune - although, that's a pretty easy thing to say with Last Ninja 2, all the tunes were pretty great. I remember getting this for my birthday, and it became my world for a solid month until I completed it. Playing it nowadays is a bit clunky, we were fairly forgiving back then but the controls are really bad, not at all what we are used to these days.
I wish games with long load times nowadays would utilise loader music. I seriously get really tired of just staring at screens that say, "Now Loading" with a picture and maybe a bar to show just how much longer you have to wait. I may not have been around to play them when I was younger, but these games kick so much ass! I'd love to see a new Ninja game.
I don't remember the last time I played a game on a modern system or console with long load times to warrant loader music!! These days, games tend to load within seconds as opposed to minutes! Kids today don't realise how good they have it! 😂
Dont quote me but I remember reading that it was possible for 4 at one time but it was glitchy so it mostly stayed in 3 channels. Still, some kick ass music!
Wouldnt mind betting Matt Gray (who is part of Xenomania, a pretty well known production team) threatened them for using his work without permission. I believe a few SID composers have already threatened Dragonforce over similar matters
It pisses me off how that ultra famous theme from Undertale, Megalomania, has its main melody/motif based on a barely disguised reworking of the legendary bass riff on this. I can understand inspiration but damn, this is a same notes & same tempo case. It infuriates me.
Hell, I'm 26 and even I can appreciate games that came before my time. BTW, I own a Vic 20 and a Commodore 64 with both a 1571 disk drive and datasette player. Too bad the only way i can play this is via emulation... can't even find it on ebay..
the time I wrote that, i wasn't even aware of the SD2IEC. but a few months ago i came across one for a relatively affordable price . I use it way more often than the floppy drive. Actually, I barely use it at all. I even have an SIO2PC adaptor for my modded atari 600xl.
This sort of music would have been great for lemmings. I wonder why the music in C64 Lemmings was so weak, did they use all of the RAM on rendering the sprites, so they didn't have enough for music like this?
It's 2022. I'm now 43 years old. I used to play this game when I was 10-12 years. I still come here and listen to these. Great memories.
Same age like you, same notion like you! :)
i'm 44 and same. today seems almost incredible that they were able to make such games back then.
I'm 39 years old and still own the original Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 computers + games 😺👍🕹️.

Broad Daylight Ninja has the best load music ever!!
@@ArttuTheCat repair it!
Alien Vendetta and Okuplok. Didn't know that Doom music track was actually a rendition of this. Awesome!
hmm, for whatever reason this seems to bring back unrelated memories of a brown cliff face and a lot of camel sounds, and something about a number in the twenty thousands.
after all these years, still the best 8-bit soundtrack ever.
Muck use aceed!
I bet ”At Doom’s Gate” from Doom was inspired by this theme (or the Central Park level music).
probably best videogame soundtrack ever
I also like Rob Hubbard's Delta and lot more, but this one.. yeah!

Probably? No doubt about it!
These days it is too easy to simply say "Oh get more memory, get a bigger hard disk". At the time, that simply was not an option.
The C64's sound chip is unbeatable!
Matt Gray, Ladies and gentlemen, Matt Gray.
This is the best Commodore 64 game soundtrack i have ever heard. Thanx unclejubalon! =)
Matt Gray - one of the best chiptune composers!
him and hubbard
And Galway, my top 3
I'd probably put Jonathan Dunn in that list too. All amazing composers 👏🎶
Chris Hülsbeck, Jeroen Tel and Ben Daglish also :)
I want go back in time to the eighties when Commodore ruled
TheYamarider1000 it will again as the C64 has been re-released in 2020.
Man a track like this makes you just wanna kill a little over 23,000 demons.
Okuplok...
Ah yes back when a game had music worth listening too even while your not playing, Awesome stuff.
Best music of 8bit age and best game of c64... Im 44 years old and i play it again on emulator
No wonder ign gave the soundtrack a 9.5. Truly outstanding chiptune.
Best game ever. Best music ever.... This was the soundtrack to my youth..
This was a great game, I ran all the way home from school to just play this game.

+Pegeman K On the edge of the skyscraper!
+huxleypig69 I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing superman. Most of my friends didn't see it because they just moved to the next area. 😊
I stayed home from school just to play it. :p
Well, almost. ;)
Really? I diddn't know that :o Thx bro!
That's on Level 5 - The Office.
I actually have a video of that uploaded on my channel :)
th-cam.com/video/osWAbiIOR7U/w-d-xo.html
This type of first class c64 music made up for the longest loading times in history on the after all beloved Commodore 64.
Best theme about a time traveling ninja ever
Best Soundtrack all time !!! This is the ultimate Music !!!
Greatest piece of sid music ever made. Still have it as my ringtone to this day. Matt Gray is/was a musical wizard.
Great music plus the Dragonforce opener during the UB tour
I need to find more music like this
You can try music from Turrican 2. Not the same energy, but one of the best :)
When hearing great tunes like this, i really wish i knew the inspiration from the artist(s) behind. How on earth he came up with this.
Look up Tangerine Dream, especially the White Eagle album.
It's 2024 and I played this game in the late 80ies. And this is the mf best C64 anthem ever. hands fn down. Remake's also glorious...
Wow this was ahead of its time
Are we all listening to electronics dance music now. Got a theory that the techno music generation was the 8 bit generation.
I remember that I often played this game only to listen to the awesome soundtracks. Another game that I loves because of its great soundtrack was "Bangkok Knights". That´s my all time favorite ;)
I love it! My Childhood Memories on C64!
alluded to my childhood, superb music lots of memories
That moment defined my childhood!
Best soundtrack of all times !!!
Simply complexly divine
Best ever...
Best song ever
best c64 music ever
I loved this so much I used to make remixes of this as a kid. Awesome.
those bees and the boat was tough. but with the long stick it was easy. passed the city level easily but the sewers was tough as space was cramped and plenty of places to fall and die. dang those ladders too!
True electro chip tune. Sweet memories

Great music
Still great music from The C64
oh hell's yes, thanks for uploading this!
Broad Daylight Ninja has the best load music ever!!
that alone makes it insanely epic lol!!!
...awesome...
nothing more to say !
1988.
Remember the crocodile in the sewer and kicking the cop in the plums.
Best Track in Last Ninja 2...
This must be the best known track of the Last Ninja -series. Maybe, because only few made it out of the centeral park to listen other loaders.
Tää oli ensimmäinen The Last Ninja peli jonka mä pelasin nuorena poikana Commodore 64:lla. Mahtavaa klassikkoa! 😸🐈🐈🐾🎸👍📼

Stuff of FUCKING genius… Matt Gray WE SALITE YOU SIR!!!
Great Musik. ..😆😊👍
Did we ever rock the 8 bit chip like this? 😊
This game fucken bumps
Dont quote me but I remember reading that it was possible for 4 at one time but it was glitchy so it mostly stayed in 3 channels. Still, some kick ass music!
For those who like remakes of Last Ninja, there is a KS campaign right now. You should look up Last Ninja Musicology on FB or KS!
Whats KS?
Im guessing KickStarter.
really did it get funding i would have invested in the game i love it back in the day.
The BEST!!!!!!!!! :)
so dope
Clearly Kunitoki is still alive. It's time for LN4.
Dragonforce uses this song to open their shows
+Alan Rojas for real?? damn saw em twice.. next time I remember..
+bacardi666 Dragonforce uses this song in 2009 tour hahaha now is other song
Wouldnt mind betting Matt Gray (who is part of Xenomania, a pretty well known production team) threatened them for using his work without permission. I believe a few SID composers have already threatened Dragonforce over similar matters

Wow!!!!!!!!!!
fucking great...
Remember the bit where you had to walk around the ledge of a building and superman flew past in the distance?
It pisses me off how that ultra famous theme from Undertale, Megalomania, has its main melody/motif based on a barely disguised reworking of the legendary bass riff on this. I can understand inspiration but damn, this is a same notes & same tempo case. It infuriates me.

This is some fucking pre daftpunk shit
@blaineyboots No, they had the AMIGA version! LOL
Lets take Manhattan! Shame they didn't get the Ninja to kick Jason's ass.
You're talking about Jason Vorhees of The Friday The 13th movies, aren't you? 😺🐈
@@ArttuTheCat Yup!
