C64 music refreshes my brain back to 80ies like I am child again. Almost 40 years back like was yesterday. 80ies were best for all kind of music for games, movies, disco, pop, etc...
The track for Yie Ar Kung Fu is Les Chant Magnétiques Part IV by Jean Michel Jarre. When I first heard that coming out of my C64 I was blown away. It led me to discover more of the artist's music. The game was insanely hard, but I took solace in the music. Props to Martin Galway for that conversion.
Awesome list! Still humming along to every bit of these, over 30 years later ... Missing one of my favorites tho, "They stole a million" with the inspiration from Sweeney. Thx for taking us down memory lane ;)
Love it. Ben Daglish number one :) but EVERY single composer on the c64 panorama is a freaking genius. Jeroen Tel, Martin Galway, Robb Hubbard, EVERY SINGLE ONE is GREAT.
No sign of the "attract mode" song from Flimbo's Quest, one of the greatest SID tunes ever! also any of the first 5 levels of Sly Spy Secret Agent - take your pick!
This is a pretty good list hey! Some of my other favs are Thunderblade, Mutants & Arkanoid Revenge of Doh, Rambo, Rastan, Combat School, Robocop (1&3), Platoon, Hawkeye, Double Dragon, Phobia
Nice video, impeccable playlist. Additional information about the tracks you have listed : - Eliminator is by Jeroen Tel and not David Whittaker - Turbo Outrun title is originally by Hiroshi Kawaguchi (rearranged by Jeroen Tel) - Golden Axe is originally by You Takada (rearranged by Jeroen Tel) - Yie Ar Kung Fu Title is originally by Jean-Michel Jarre (rearranged by Martin Galway) - Commando is originally by Tamayo Kawamoto (rearranged by Rob Hubbard) - International Karate contains an excerpt of Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence by Ryuchi Sakamoto
Now that, is one hell of a list. Great stuff here. I always wish M.U.L.E. Made these lists. The title screen has possibly the catchiest music of the 64.
A good list... I have fond memories of Barbarian and Bubble Bobble,.. but somehow, you forgot the music of Trap, Driller, Thing on a Spring, and the TITLE music of Green Beret.
Great list, but it is hard to select "only" 25 great musics. Some of the game musics what I am missing: Exploding Fist 2 Zak McCracken opening Turrican 2 Shadow of the Beast Usagi Yojimbo Platoon Last Ninja 3 opening Creatures Myth Lazy Jones
Good Question :D The video was one of the first gamerelated videos I made 2 years ago. When I would make this video again today, I probably would place it under the best 10. However, the difference here between place 15 and place 10 is only minimal. Most of this tracks are just awesome in my opinion ;)
Great songs on this list. if it would by my list I disagree with few things: Last Ninja 3 (intro!!) is amazing and missing here. Bubble Bobble ... uh... And Giana Sisters is too far overated in my opinion. I mean it is only few short tunes, nothing that belongs in the Top 10 in my opinion. But I would add Turrican 1 and 2 here.
Where are Kendo Warriors, Hawkeye, Myth, R-Type, Retrograde, Cybernoid and Target: Renegade? They are far much better than most of the music here listed... I agree only with the number 1 of the MASTERPIECE DAGLISH'S LAST NINJA.
This is a pretty good list hey! Some of my other favs are Thunderblade, Mutants & Arkanoid Revenge of Doh, Rambo, Rastan, Combat School, Robocop (1&3), Platoon, Hawkeye, Double Dragon, Phobia

commando has always been my fav tune . end credits are also nice ,, got to hear those alot ...
That 30 second Bubble Bobble loop is burnt into my brain
I use it as ringtone.

Great giana sisters... The best!!!
C64’ Tetris is one of my favorite sid ever. Long and beautiful. A style far away from other known Tetris versions.
I absolutely agree!
Sheer beauty
I wonder what I could have been in life if I didn't immediately recognize most of these songs!
Love it. Ben Daglish number one :) but EVERY single composer on the c64 panorama is a freaking genius. Jeroen Tel, Martin Galway, Robb Hubbard, EVERY SINGLE ONE is GREAT.
That´s true. I think one reason for the big success of the C64 was the excellent music in games done by all this awesome musicians.
Bangladesh is my favorite composer
No sign of the "attract mode" song from Flimbo's Quest, one of the greatest SID tunes ever! also any of the first 5 levels of Sly Spy Secret Agent - take your pick!
It’s incredible to think that this music came from a near 40 year old hardware
The SID is still an amazing device - witness th-cam.com/video/iTsdA5lR3jg/w-d-xo.html
"Light force" music reminds me of the best time with C64, very nostalgic.
The Last Ninja was also an absolutely amazing game for it's time
We cam such a long way. I will never forget my first hours of playing video games on my C64 system.
Dragon's Lair. Nerve wracking to play. Amazing music
Outrun mit dem Digi Sample gefällt mir besonders 🤩 Supremacy ist auch superklasse. Eigentlich sind alle toll😄
This is a pretty good list hey! Some of my other favs are Thunderblade, Mutants & Arkanoid Revenge of Doh, Rambo, Rastan, Combat School, Robocop (1&3), Platoon, Hawkeye, Double Dragon, Phobia
My right ear feeling left out with some of them... 😢
1:16 you can't help to tap your foot
Arkanoid. Giana sisters. Riverraid. Three of the favourites.

"International Karate contains an excerpt of Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence by Ryuchi Sakamoto"
It's similar, but no it doesn't
Lies...
And the music for Driller. An amazing long track, rocking all the way
Now that, is one hell of a list. Great stuff here. I always wish M.U.L.E. Made these lists. The title screen has possibly the catchiest music of the 64.
This is a good list. Good work Sven. Thank you.
A good list... I have fond memories of Barbarian and Bubble Bobble,.. but somehow, you forgot the music of Trap, Driller, Thing on a Spring, and the TITLE music of Green Beret.
Love all these!
Eye ball and the last v8 had good music too
Nostalgia overload!
what a fine selection you have made! def some of my faves as well :-)
ghost n goblins.. i think its my absolute favorite c64 track
Bubble bobble!
Good list, I’d add Aztec Challenge one of my favs
Crazy comets, phantoms of the asteroid, Skate or die, Battle valley, Sanxion, Delta, Green beret loader, Mikie
Also great: Fist2, Friday the 13th, Ace 2
Every list is personal taste. except those based on large scale voting.
I miss many of my favs here, while I agree with most that are in.
Rob hubbard s music made it worth buying any game....
wow a lot of the best tunes not included but still a great. of all the tunes here yie ar is the best
Fantastic compilation, thanks for doing this. I just uploaded my top 100 C64 game tracks which you might like!
I had commando #1 on my list. But great work!
Thank you!
No Flimbos Quest?? Really?? One of the best....
#15 - Sounds like song from Jurassic Park on NES
Turrican II intro is simply badass!!!
Galway's Wizball is definitely among the best 10
Wow, that sounds very modern. I really like it)
Great list, but it is hard to select "only" 25 great musics. Some of the game musics what I am missing:
Exploding Fist 2
Zak McCracken opening
Turrican 2
Shadow of the Beast
Usagi Yojimbo
Platoon
Last Ninja 3 opening
Creatures
Myth
Lazy Jones
Hawkeye and Myth are notable omissions for me.
Wonderboy snd Terry's big adventure are top 20 for sure. California games also.
Great choises.
Such great music! I have to learn some of these on the guitar :)
hmm you missed out some pretty importnant ones there. Wizball and Turrican 1 and 2..
Exploding fist too
Nice list! Just FYI though, #'s 2,3,7,11,16,17,18 and 23 are only coming through on the left channel
Good video
No Sanxion?
Aztec Challenge needs to be in here
Let’s be honest Cybernoid 2 has an incredible song
if u didnt play 30-40 year ago them some of them its mean nothing.if u played u fell like best of the best
No mention of Master of Magic??? The greatest of Rob Hubbard's compositions.... Easily the greatest piece of music ever produced for a C64 game...
Rob Hubbard's epic theme from "Mondy on the run..."
Came here to say this
Arkanoid is amazing!!!!
Arkanoid sounds like a Radiohead song in the making.
Myth is my number 1, rambo 3 is second.
I REALLY LOVE C64 👍🥂🎩
Where is: "Rasputin Commodore 64 Music by Rob Hubbard"?
why is some of the tracks only on one speaker?
Beste Intro Musik:The Last Ninja 3
Myth has entered the chat.
How is Comic Bakery way down in 15th place?!
Good Question :D The video was one of the first gamerelated videos I made 2 years ago. When I would make this video again today, I probably would place it under the best 10. sanxion music by rob hubbard i thought that might be up there
Yes debit or credit at Lincoln st Tim hortinsthis morning.
Defender of the Crown wasn’t on the C64 that was Amiga footage!?
There also was a version for C64 of course....
You see, it's all about the composition and not the gear..
uridium? killerwatt?
The House was from I Wanna Be The Guy right?
No Uridium???
++++ I agree ++++
Bardzo miodne. Pozdro dla czytelników Secret Service.
Sorry, but Whizball blows them all way in terms of music. Some good memories there though.
Why yie ar kung fu has no original soundtrack...Never heard J.M.Jarre on this game before...
International Karate, and in fact IK+ are pretty much rip offs from Ryuichi Sakamoto and the music from Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence
Poke 1024, 81
DBest
Tetris (Wally Beben) is to fast, PAL/NTSC mismatch.
Tetris is too fast, it sounds awful at that speed.
What is so great? I can do better with a synthesizer? Also, I'm a better ninja.
Then you don not get it. To young to comprehend.
Loved the C64, hated C64 music. It just had a really grating demoscene sound to it.
On the plus side, I guess it was a big leap above the PET and VIC.
The demoscene arguably started on the C64, so...
RASTAN!!!!!!! One of the best!
