  • To run the wizard safely on 4s (14.8v) some solder work is required. While the eachine wizard is disassembled install a micro buzzer is quick and easy.

      How would you re-attach those little white plug sockets on the PCB when they break off? Too small to solder. I broke one on the middle PCB of a lizard95 can't even get the top PCB to come off from the middle one.

      I've got the wizard gold package a couple weeks ago and I'll eventually do this vbat and buzzer mod. In order to activate the buzzer when lost am I correct in assuming I'll need a 7th Channel on my 6 channel radio?

    Hey,, great video. I haven't verified any of it, but it's clear you are describing legitimate mods based on the characteristics of the boards you are working with. Thanks for saving the community a lot of heartache. I'm new to the game but have already met people burning up vtx from running 4 cell without changing the vtx supply to the regulated 12v, and the voltage monitoring mod is highly desirable. Thanks!

    Guys, remember to do this in the CLI panel: "beeper -all" and then "beeper BAT_CRIT_LOW" , that does so your buzzer only beeps when battery is low, sometimes when you fly your drone, it thinks somethings wrong but there isnt anything wrong, and it beeps. So you just need to do as i say and you won't ever experience any buzzer issues

    Awesome videos guys been watching a lot of them! I have a few questions, on an earlier video you said the wizard isn't tuned for 4s and you may get oscillations. Any chance we will see a video how to properly tune the Wizard?
    Also I tend to run 3s and 4s. I like to get warmed up on a couple 3s batteries and then switch over to the 4s. I don't want camera black outs on my 3s and according to this video that may happen if I do the vtx soldering, however I have removed my LED's so would it be better to just solder to one of the old LED pads? Thanks guys!!

    I am new to this and am planning to purchase an eachine wizard. The person I am buying from has 4s batteries but it is not set up for it. I just want to make sure I understand something. So I don’t need to set up the buzzer or the vbat in order for the 4s to work? All I have to do is love the vtx wires to the 12v pad?

    Why shouldn't you wire the VTX to the dedicated 12V VTX pads? I also found out the LEDs were incorrectly wired to 5V instead of 12V. I ended up making mine "correct" by putting the VTX to the VTX 12V pads, the cam to the CAM 5V pads - it was connected to 12V (on the specs from eachine, it says the camera can handle from 3.6-5.5V, but you stated that it can handle up to 17V? Not sure which is correct, but I figured I wouldn't risk it), then the LEDs to the 12V pad that you connected the VTX to in this video. It seems to have eliminated any horizontal noise when punching the throttle

      Move the 5v to 12v pad switch back. And then why don't you use a 1000 uf low esr capacitor on the battery + and - pads on the pcb board to battery leads to buffer or totally eliminate any voltage spike to camera or to vtx so you can run three cell or four cell at your convenience and nix the 5v to 12v pad switch?.

    Hello, I live in Canada's capital and I really appreciate your support in the quadcopter community! I have an X220 and I put some 2205 2300kv Cobra motors on after a loose bearing seized a motor at 120ft straight up resulting in 2 motors DOImpact.
    I wired them up perfectly calibrated the esc's did a motor test and all was good then a motor made a tinkling sound when spun after being powered off that disappeared I hooked up power again and the motor didn't twitch much and smoke from the front of the pdb appeared!.!. Loose from accident? Or could the motor have shorted it bypassing the esc? I hope you can give me some real info👍 sincerely GD

    Hi Will and Basil, thanks for your instructional video. I upgraded my RTF Wizard with the Eachine TX526 VTX, so my question would be: could I just plug in the 4s battery into my quad or is it absolutely essential to perform the soldering to 12v? I am asking this questions since I don't have soldering equipment and was wondering what the worst case scenario would be if I just plugged in the 4s battery to my quad? Would it only damage the VTX or catch fire or whatsoever? Looking forward to you response and thanks!

      @jok3yjesu339 5 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @SuperCuttysark
    @SuperCuttysark 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Im trying to understand lipos. I have a 4s 1800 65C so the recommendation is for each cell never let it go below a 3. So with 4 cells that's a total of 12. So does that mean a 1500 4s battery will have a really low flight time because you really on have 3 volts of flight time since you can charge to 15 but you need to subtract the 12 that you need to keep the battery healthy?

  • @kevinh166
    @kevinh166 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Complete noob here! Now you've connected wires for the vbat, what does this do for you? Do you have to set anything up on the controller? I assume it will show you the battery voltage on the controller??? What does it show you without this mod? Nothing?

      Easy, Multiple quads!
      Well, there are newer designed VTX's that can take a wider range of voltage direct and no issues, the TS5823 variant used in the wizard is not one of them in our experience(its a dated design... I mean dipswitches still... really?... bad Eachine bad!). If trying to avoid buying parts, maybe solder up a jumper or switch to change voltage to the pdb.

      Sasquatch FPV just change out the flight controller. trust me you don't want to have to program micro minimum osd. just get one with the built-in betaflight OSD. it's not that difficult. as far as soldering up and stuff goes. although Will and Basel may slightly disagree.

    • @graysonhobby7583
      @graysonhobby7583 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Adding a Swift 2 camera for Vbat and timer would be the easiest way to get simple OSD info.
      hmm, Frsky setup, perhaps a basic how-to in the near future. the Taranis/ OpenTx is a hobby in itself.

      i have the swift RR from Grayson, but haven't upgraded yet. figure I'll fly the stock cam while I learn. would soldering in the swift be the way I would have to go for that?

      Grayson Hobby amen to that.

    do u have to configure anything in beta flight for the low vbat alarm?

    • @graysonhobby7583
      @graysonhobby7583 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have a GOLD or silver Wizard bought from us it is already configured, just not hardwired for the vbat or buzzer. If you purchased an arf or from someone else, that I don't know, but Vbat I believe is on by default in betaflight.

    • @DavidHanniganJr
      @DavidHanniganJr 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alex Hernandez just switch on in configuration tab (VBat) and defaults are sufficient.

    So.. What will happen if you plug in a 4S lipo into the stock x220? How would I know if I've blown something?
    I'm completely new to this kind of stuff and I was searching for a cheap under 300$ setup with everything needed for it and this youtuber with like 90k subscribers or some crap absolutely recommended this drone along with a 4S battery but said nothing about needing an upgrade for it to run a 4S.

    • @graysonhobby
      @graysonhobby  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fly it on 3S - ESPECIALLY if you are new - once you get a good level of flying and quad knowledge, then jump to 4S - Cant start out in '5th gear'

    • @CaliberMag
      @CaliberMag 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, Did not expect the creator to reply back. Yeah I didn't know what to get since uavfutures or i think that's his youtube name said to get 4S so that's what I got.. And since he has so many subs I thought it was fine to go that way. But can the stock x220 run a 4S or do I absolutely need to upgrade the quad for it to work?

    • @graysonhobby
      @graysonhobby  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately 'reviewers' do not have to deal with after sales support 100s of folks who went 4S all have issues with their VTX, but on one is doing videos on that :

    • @CaliberMag
      @CaliberMag 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well thanks for the tip, I'll see about what I can do on getting a 3S battery for it. But 1 last question if you don't mind. I got most of this stuff from a website called ' bang good ' and I wanted your opinion on it.. Cause it seems like every other youtuber doesn't like that website and i can see why.. I received a faulty transmitter with receiver for like 45 usd and it seemed ok till the joy sticks or whatever they're called won't do anything with the quad itself. (properly binded it like every tutorial I've seen) and its still a piece of crap.. What I got is : FlySky FS-i6 2.4G 6CH AFHDS RC Transmitter With FS-iA6B Receiver

    • @aidanhughes3655
      @aidanhughes3655 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Caliber Mag u probably need to set the receiver up in betaflight

    If I got a new vtx would i be able to run 3 and 4 cell without any problems?

      @graysonhobby  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      NO

    • @aidanhughes3655
      @aidanhughes3655 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Grayson Hobby so theres no way to run 3 and 4s safely?

    • @mccoymotley1124
      @mccoymotley1124 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why don't you use a 1000 uf low esr capacitor on the battery + and - pads on the pcb board to battery leads to buffer or totally eliminate any voltage spike to camera or to vtx so you can run three cell or four cell at your convenience and nix the 5v to 12v pad switch?. I am running this setup on my wizard as i speek. So far no problems and clear video. So far good backup plan for me . but try at your own risk

    there is no LC filter on that pdb at all

    • @graysonhobby7583
      @graysonhobby7583 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a true LC filter indeed, but the 12volt pad does have multiple capacitors after the regulator to reduce voltage ripple/noise on the 5/12volt pads, which has proven to help those getting noise in their video when flying the wizard on 4s. Speaking specific to a stock wizard...Bad Motors/props/esc could create excessive noise that may indeed require a true LC filter, but at that point the wound may be too big for the bandaid.

    • @jordanbass3210
      @jordanbass3210 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grayson Hobby sorry dude not even close 12 volt and 5 volt regulator are not LC filters LOL
