That's brilliant I didn't realize any of this. Now I'm at my computer and I had to adjust my chair arms so my elbows are free to type. Turned table with keyboard sideways and now i can bring the computer right up to me so I'm not leaning way forward and this makes me sit up straight instead of slouching over. My back hurts but I've been watching videos and trying new things this evening. Sciatica has been paining me. I started a wee bit of yoga and I'm tryin to build up my non existent glutes. I am building my muscles to stop the Sciatica. Three Dr have tried to put me on gabapentin. I realized I have to start seriously working out to fix my sciatica with out drugs. Thanks for the information listened and will try to remember It all tomorrow when I wake~*~
I am so grateful you posted this. I am making changes immediately. My back has had me in so much pain. Just knowing to watch my head position is tremendous help. Thank you!!!
This is such a great video! These ideas are great. The foot under the sink is genius. Crazy to think I’ve been sitting too leaned forward whilst driving, thinking that I was keeping “good posture”.

Question, does walking help with left side butt pain, I been suffering alot of pifamis muscle pain last year or so, very painful when I walk..help.. buddy
Good question. Depends on your symptom experience while walking. For example, what happens the longer you walk? If symptoms worsen the longer you walk- and symptoms are intense- then no, walking is unlikely to be helpful. Need to do some detective work to identify "tweaks" or modifications to walking that allow you to walk with less pain and that teach you what motion you may respond best to. Much detective work to be done here... Would you be open to me reviewing your case to see if/how I may be able to best help? If so, just visit www.drcharliejohnsonpt.com/apply - select a time to chat, then follow instructions to submit details of your specific case (a case review). Sound good?
I had SI joint insufficiency that led to piriformis syndrome and yes!! Walking helps. I did wear a trochanter (SI) belt for a few weeks to keep my si joint together but now, I walk without. I can tell when I don’t walk, bc my pain is worse those days. Also, as Dr Charlie shared in another video: don’t stretch! Dr Charlie helped me more than my PT or any other video. I am mostly pain free with a physical job and daily exercise thanks to him. Good luck!! It sucks. I couldn’t sit for months and now it’s nice to sit on the sofa with my husband and dogs again.
i find it much better to squeeze you cheek together and tilt your hips back and then keeping back straight will take the pressure of the lower back , practice this when walking and even in a slow run you will feel the difference immediately!
while edging with the weed eater.... i edge on the grass side walking backwards. this seems to fire up my piriformis. been doing this movement for years, yet it is becoming a problem. is this a glute weakness issue, or other... finding relief doing machine leg presses (one leg) pushing thru my heel/glute.... getting older isnt for the weak & piriformis isnt for the weak of mind....
@@drcharliejohnson So, I've done the hips-first move for several days now and have diminished stiffness. The hardest part is being mindful of hips-first rather than head-first. If I scoot my behind to the front edge of the chair, it both reminds me and makes it easier to lever out of the chair with hips-first.
