Although I am pretty familiar with Google Photos/Drive, your video kept my attention because of the clarity of your instruction, but most of all, that is the quality of this video is excellent. The clarity made an impression on me. Very easy on the eye. Thanks, Scott.
Scott, THANK YOU!!! This info can be found in Google Help for Photos and Drive which I've read, reread, pondered over, slept on, made notes about, and clicked on highlighted references until my brain cell shorted out. You finally turned all that information overload into simple English. You are now my Tech Superhero! I've subscribed to your channel and will save your videos for future reference. Thanks again! P.S. Love the humor!
I can´t choose the option to put a person automaticly In an album, All of my Photos, Screenshots and downloads all mixes together In cluttered mess! How do I fix that Problem?
Great Video, I learned a lot; Thank You. One question though: When I go to settings, I do not see the button' to "Recover Storage". (See from minute 3:00 on your video). Any suggestions? Thanks.
In google photos, other than the search options mentioned, is there a way to specially label a photo in google photos for a later search. For example. If I take a picture of a fish I caught on the river behind my house. And I have many of almost the same picture in the same place. Is there a way to mark that specific picture to easily find later?
How can I create a virtual art critique with student artwork? Should they upload their art to google drive ( in their chrome books) and then I put them all into one file?? How do I do that? Sorry, I’m just learning. Your videos are awesome. Your speaking style makes the info easy to absorb.
At 5:40 you say that the only way NOT to affect our space in Google Drive is to upload photos either from the App or "manually" from photos.google.com. Now, let's say that 7 days ago I used photos.google.com to upload 10 GB of photos from my local "Pictures" folder. Today the folder is 12 GB and I cannot exactly locate the photos that I've been saving there during the last week. What happens if I go back on the website and re-upload the folder? Will it locate and upload only the new photos?
Good vid thanks. My photos are in Google Photos but I want to move my original photos from my phone to my computer. When you setup syncing with your computer and Google Photos, will it recognise that the photos have already been backed up? Reason for this is I want to be able to then sort through and delete any photos I want to on my laptop, or in Google Photos, and have it all synced.
Great Vid Scott. question.... WHY would you want to create a GOOGLE PHOTOS folder in Google Drive?... Isn't Google Photos already considered a "back up" of the picts on Google Drive? (i know...slightly compressed if using "high quality)... if you create a "Google Photos" folder in Google drive....isn't that a "back up of the back up" ?...what is the reason behind it? Thx!
Is there a way to sync photos from Google Drive to Google Photos automatically? So I want to put a photo in Google Dive and have it show up in Google Photos. Is that possible? I've tried to figure it out and it seems impossible. But there is a setting in Google Photos that says synch Google Drive to Google Photos. It makes no sense.
can i add text to my photos before I make them into a movie and then upload that to FB and later when I learn how I want to upload to you tube. I've been on FB for years so that is my first go to place right now. Im doing this for my business. Cam I also add closed captions in my videos that I have in google photos? Thanks
Great video thank you.. I have a question. Hopefully you can help me. I have many pictures in my laptop and its almost full. I'm afraid to loose them all if my laptop crashes. I just downloaded the back up and sync to my laptop. I opened google photos on my laptop and I was able to see on it all the pictures I can see on my phone through google photos but I can't see the ones I have on my laptop. How can I move all the pictures on my laptop to Google photos? Thanks in advance.
Hi.. nice video.. I've a question.. I turned on the Google photos folder in drive a while ago and then disabled that option. But that folder is still there on my drive.. is there any way to delete that folder without getting my pictures deleted?
+Tam Neal we receive complaints either way. Some argue not having the music, some argue for it. Best thing about people is there's never any shortage of feedback for us to get better ;-)
I dont know why these fools use music in the first place. They try to make the video more interesting or professional but all they do is annoy the viewers.
I have liked this video and subscribed to your channel because you simply rock ! You just gave me every piece of info I want without asking. Thank you so much man. I wish you best of luck.
This might work, I haven't tries it. You can go into the original album, select the photos you wish to "move" or combine and then hit the + icon and either create a new album and add them to it or add them to an existing album.
I had considered that but I needed to flush all (or most) of my pics from my hard drive (serious lack of space) I took over 400 pictures at an airshow on 3 different cameras, so when they uploaded, they went to 3 different albums. Now they are only available in my Google photos as I have since removed from my hard drive. This is something I would really like to master as I have over 150,000 pictures, and many projects in mind.
I did try to create another album but you can only add 500 pictures per created album. although when I originally uploaded my albums, some had as many as 2200 pictures.
i apologize for not yet quite understanding. how to take photos off drive and put only on photos. and without albums designated i am not sure if the photos in those google photos albums are in drive as just photos? (trying to free up drive space )
hi, thanks for the video. I recently imported all my iphoto library to google photos, but couldn't sync the albums I had organized there. any tips on how to sync the albums? cheers.
Just got google photos cause hubby & I are switching from iPhone to pixels. Chow Apple! I’m amazed by google photos. Loving having my own assistant in the app!
Hello I know this isn't relevent today, at the time you made this video you mentioned that deleting photos from google photos deleted them from google drive as well and the photos are moved to trash(in google photos), does that move them to google drive's trash as well?
Hi, I need your help!!! I went into google drive settings and selected to automatically put google photos into a folder in my drive as you showed in the video. Unfortunately....my photos do not subcategorize into folders by years or months. How do I do that? Please show a video on this. Mine just show up as pictures and are as tedious to look through as in google photos. Thanks
Am backing up photos from Google Photos to LG Drive going from my dying phone to Acer Tablet. I have changed names on all photos. When I delete Google Photos on phone still functioning will I still have my photos present on my Google drive on my tablet? I am also using folders on my tablet Google Drive.
Question: if you've all your photos stored on google photos for iPhone and all your photos and videos get stored as a back up there, can't I then delete all my camera roll photos and videos that take up so much excess space, will it still be available on the Google photos app all backed up??
Hello, do you know how to make an album public in Google Photos? (I don't mean public on Google+, or shared with a link.) I have a couple of public albums, but as far as I can see (and as far as I check any forums) nobody really knows how to create a public album (or make any existing album public).
I was a picasa user and picasa was retired. Photo sync appears to be only in the backup and sync app which puts it in drive, not photos. Thoughit syncs, it counts against storage and I already have thousands of photos in dozens of albums that I have been holding on to.
I have already lot of photos in my google drive folders and sub folders. i want to put them to google photos app. i don't wan to download them first from google drive then upload it to google photos app. is there any solution so i may move my that folders photos to google photos app ? i already try enabling google photo folders in google drive on web page. but when i move some photos to google photos folder i can't see those photo to google photo app. Do you have any solution ? if yes then please share Thanks
Great Video. Question, I have photos in mt I cloud account, Google Photos, and my Verizon cloud. I believe if I delete a photo from one of the platforms, it deleted them in the other two? If I want to stop using the Verizon cloud and I cloud, what do I need to do? I'm using an I Phone 7
Great content, thanks. The background noise ("music"?) is an unfortunate distraction. I know some people like it, but maybe they can listen to it privately on their own devices. I reviewed all of the comments, and the ones finding the background soundtrack (NOT your speaking) a distraction were overwhelmingly greater than the other way around.
Scott, Great video. Very clear. Very informative. It answered questions I didn't realize I had. I do have one question to which I can't seem to find an adequate answer anywhere online. I have a Droid Turbo II. How do I have GP backup photos that are on my SD card? When I open Google Photos and go to settings, I select "Backup device folders." Here, I can see the albums I have created within the Android gallery and select on un-select by toggling. Conspicuously absent from this list, however, is any mention of my SD card. This seems odd. By contrast, when I go into the Gallery attached to the camera app, I can clearly see all the albums I have created, along with two others; Phone ( with 1107 photos, 62 videos) and SD Card (with 3364 photos and 135 videos. They are here....but how do get them there (backed up onto Google Photo?) "Help me, Scotty-Wan Kenobi, ... You're my only hope!" P.S. One more OGNQ (Old Guy Novice Question): ....and please forgive me if you've already addressed this in videos... If you create an Album in Google Photos containing 10 pictures, are those 10 pictures then removed from the main collection and thereafter now only viewable from within that newly created folder? P.P.S. Even as a grizzled old guy, I didn't mind your musical overlay/ background soundtrack. I think people sometimes forget that people like yourself put a fair amount of thought and effort into creating meaningful and accessible content in the first place. I applaud and appreciate your efforts to inform, enlighten, and entertain. Keep up the good work. Apologies for the novella. They say "brevity is the soul of wit." Apparently, it seems, I have neither.
Thanks so much for this video! How can you choose photos from your album when you are in another app, such as a photo edit app or Instagram? I wanted to select pictures from an Ali bum I created in google photos, but I didn’t see the album when I was in the other apps.. Do you know this??
Hey Scott, thanks for the clear up. I have one question. Is there a way how to upload loads of folders of pictures from my computer while letting google photos to make albums named based on the names of the original folders I have locally on my PC? Thanks
+Ondra Brém unfortunately no, when you upload the folders that structure will stay that way if you upload via drive, but they will not transfer over as an album. :(
Hi. I've watched a few of your videos. Great info. I'm wondering about google drive. I have used the free up storage in google photos. I bought additional drive storage and it immediately filled up. I can't figure out what's filling it. Maybe videos and photos but can't narrow it down. do i need to set my phone and computer to only sync to google photos and not drive? How do I move photos from drive to google photos? Thanks
where do i find how many photos i have, can i sort phtos in size etc as i have iover 50,000 and need to find duplicates to delete, also can you make the pic size smaller, like sacle them down
In Google photos there is a file of all fotos and an album file. There might be a photo in the general file that has not been added to any album. How do i identify in the general file what is and what is not contained in the album files?
So, I transferred my photos from Google Drive to Google Photos per your instructions. Two months later, I uploaded some photos to GDrive. Later on, after that, I want to transfer those to GPhotos. How is that done? Would I go to GPhotos and switch back to the Oriiginal option, close Settings, reopen Settings, and then reselect High Quality?
Wow. That was really helpful. I still have a free questions though. Why would I want my photos on my Drive AND on the photos app anyway? I'm trying to figure out how I've used almost all my 15GB and what to delete because I'm looking at my Drive and ai cant figure out where I've used all the GB's.
Sometimes folks curate their photos in Drive because they like folder structure but still want the user friendly UI of Photos - that's one reason I've seen. But like you mentioned, that eats up Drive space. Have you considered moving your photos to Google Photos so you can get the free storage?
Thank you for this & the previous on from from 2016! Really helped clear up many questions I had, but there is still one more question. So to be able to store photos/videos from your phone before you wipe out that phone to turn in for an upgrade, do I store them all to drive or are they ok being in G-photos? 🤔
Can you please post a video to show the best way to replace "High Quality" photos with "Original Quality". I've tried a few different methods of re-uploading however google keeps the old high quality and discards the original as the EXIF data is the same. I could delete the photos first but this seems to be a nightmare as my folder structures is not YYYY/MM like Google Photos.
thanks for the vid! random question, i have all of my pictures on my google drive, is there any way to use those photos as a screensaver for my computer? i found a chrome extension but it only take photos from google photos, do you know of anything?
Can you make another video on that, 2019!! As you know, the terms and conditions have been changed lately. I would appreciate if you make another video.
*Technically Speaking It's enjoyable. You lads are the only American's that don't seem to make me grind my teeth by saying 'like' every other f in word. Lol.
What I want to know is- Does allowing Google Drive to have a Google Photos folder on it, but your photos are only uploaded via google photos, not thru drive, will that Google Photos folder (filled only with High Quality photos) count against your storage space? And what if your Google Photos have the occasional picture that is original quality, like a .psd file or something? Will it then be in the Drive's Google photos folder and count against the storage, only for the amount that the file(s) that aren't High Quality setting comprise? I can't find this info anywhere...
If what we want is backed up, then can i delete it off of my phone? So i have more space on my phone but those pics and vids still be backed up in my drive? Does this question make sense i didnt see anyone eles ask.. But i need to update my phone bad.. But i have no space.. My stuffs all backed up.. If i delete anything from my phone will it stay backed up in drive UNTIL i delete from drive?
Can I copy or move a folder from Google photos to Google drive? Because sometimes my Google photos stops working and don't let me upload pictures in it, while drive works really smooth. I just wanna switch to drive with all the stuff I already have in Google photos. There is an option that allows me to copy all the pictures from photos to drive but that pools together all the pictures from all the albums. I want it to be separated like I have in Google photos. Is that possible?
Sadly doesn't answer the one question I had. How can I get google photos backup and sync to recreate my folder names as album names and put the photos in the folders in those albums. I installed the GPB&S application, set it up for "high quality" and choose a folder I'd made as a test which had top-level folder "SYNCY" and two sub-folders "TEST1" and "TEST2" and each of those sub-folders had 2 images. Sync did its thing and those images went up to drive and photos. In drive I see them under My Computers (not in Drive storage quota I believe) and those 4 photos also appeared at photos.google.com. But those photos at photos.google.com weren't in albums. If I wanted them in albums I'd have to manually create a "TEST1" and "TEST2" album and put those images in them. Sounds reasonable with 4 images but what if (like in the real world) I have folders with 2000+ images in each folder. It seems like I have to manually click to select each of them (there's no "select all" option). It seems like this GPB&S application is a waste of time.
You can't get Google Photos to recreate the folder names and put the photos in those albums. That isn't how it has been setup. You create albums and they are only albums in Photos, not Drive. Albums do not (and can not) create folders in Drive. Vice versa, you can create folders in Drive, but that will not create albums in Photos.
@@TechnicallySpeaking Thanks for the reply. It's pretty weird that they made this choice. I've spent the whole day uploading images direct to albums (via browser) 500 files at a time. Quite inefficient but I'm making it work.
Hi Scott, I am a senior and I don't save photos at all on my android phone. I just get them developed and put them in a physical album. So, if I delete the Drive app, will that affect the Google Photos? I've learnt that less apps saves the battery. What's your take on this? Thank you.
Thanks for this very helpful. I am going to sort and edit through my photos using google photos as it has such a good layout. I have my google photos backing up to google drive. If I want to back up my google drive folder (of photos) to a local drive - i.e my external drive as a further back up - is this possible?
one final question/s! Would you recommend syncing (rather than an upload) of my local photo file from my laptop to google drive - (its taking forever!) - if it was just an upload would the photos appear in my google photos? (if Im correct the folder of photos I am syncing (from laptop) to my google drive will also show in my google photos!?
Hi I have a question. I am new to Google Photos and Google drive that is why this video is awesome even though its a year old! LOL I created albums in Photos and selected the high quality storage. I one by one moved my photos to the album I made. I thought I was being efficient by deleting the photo from the main file because it was in my album. I also thought I was being efficient by emptying the trash to save space. I quickly read a warning that said something would happen if the album got too big. Well, now, I have an album that is empty, no photos on any device and the trash is empty too. I believe the album I was working on had 302 photos and it now says zero. Is there any way to get those back?
i have s query sir. I find that my Google photos slideshow stops for the secondary USER on my Dell Desktop using Windows10 os. But the same stoppage that closes the desktop display does not happen when I see my Google photos slideshow as Administrator of my Desktop. What is the real problem and how to resolve it so that I can see my Google PHOTOS slideshow for unlimited time without the desktop switching off.
So, is there a way to move my photos I've uploaded to Google drive over to Google photos app? The video made it sound like they are stuck in your drive and unable to be moved to the photos app.
Hi there, I'm assuming you mean One Drive from Microsoft and unfortunately I don't know of a way other than downloading them from Microsoft and then re-uploading them to Photos
Personally I didn't get it from there, I got it from a friend of mine that mixes his own music and was given permission to do so (just in case someone was wondering about copyright)
Hey great job! This google system was amazing but now they changed it... now there’s no sync between google drive and google photos. Do you know some tricks to get it organized? I can download everything to a google photos folder but when I delete in drive it still shows in photos... that sucks 😢 tks for the video thou
Hi. What if I upload the photos on google photos and add them onto an album; how can i make the photos that have been put into the album from not appearing on the main list of photos to avoid confusion. it's best this way that once the photos are put into an album, it goes into that.
Hi Scott, in the video you added 3 photos to an album (named awesome ) into google photos in your android phone, but when u were on the website, that 3 exact photos were not in an albums? Moreover you still can add those 3 same photos into an album (named sweet sweet album) ??? I dont understand is that, when i make an album in my android phone, it's not linked in to my web browser google photos? (As in the video, Album (awesome) in google photos and Album (Sweet Sweet Album) which comprises the same 3 different pictures?
You can add photos to multiple albums. It doesn't have to be one specific album. And when you create an album with your phone it will carry over to the web as well.
*Technically Speaking if I were to delete a picture (cat) in galley, it will be deleted in Google photos?? And if I deleted a picture (dog) in Google photos, it will be deleted in galley??
I have a google pixel 2 xl... meaning unlimited storage in google photos for the next couple of years... well... i have found you can sync all of your google photos into a drive folder automatically...I would like to transfer just SOME pictures... not everything...my google drive is limited to only 15 GB..so is it possible to port just SOME google photos into drive?
Just watched your great video, but to just clarify one thing, I am right in thinking that I cannot move an album from google pictures to google drive? Another question, is it possible to save the album on google pictures to my memory stick?
is google photos the primary place where photos live? is drive just an auto-backup? my iphone pictures automatically go to my google photos and drive, how is that?
If you upload through Google Photos, that is the primary place they live (however, you can see them in Drive). If you upload via Drive, they live there, and can see them in Photos. I know that sounds confusing, lol!
Great tutorial Scott. I've just changed from iOS and love everything about Google. A bit confusing when I setup my Google photos and drive. Keep up the good work 👍
Great vid, I'm still having problems with On1 and Luminar photo apps recognizing my Google Photos in Google Drive - when I go the Drive, it only sees like 18 photos and i have thousands - I want to scroll through and edit these photos in On1 and Luminar, but the Drive doesn't see them, what can i do?
Thank you for the very informative video. I did not notice the music, its all good! My question is about storage and albums. I understand I can pick a group of photos and make an album. In my case, I have probably hundreds of albums. The problem begins when I want to add more photos to an existing album. I can only find it by scrolling through the albums. I had assumed that there would be a "right click" "Add to album" option where an alphabetized list or dated list of my albums would appear and I would be able to add that photo to that album. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
hii, how can we know who access or who viewed google drive, if we have share something on face book or a blog by uploading to google drive. if we have set to public and how do we know who viewed our stuff which is in the google drive ?
I shot a 4k video and uploaded it on google photos. The upload size was 1.5 gb but later on when i accessed it, it showed only 50 mb and was playable only at 360p. Help!
I use ios and was backing up photos n videos!! It started to backup a movie as well n i wish not to backup that..!!! How can i change setting in ios for what to backup n what to not... pls help
Thank you for the update; it clarifies a lot. I'm still struggling to find the best way to share a collection of photos (album, folder) with others, and allow them to download or add in their own photos from that same event, without having all of us (domestic and international) sign up for a new service.
+tary piesher Google Photos is really the easiest way to doall those things you described. When you created a shared albums they can add and download as needed
Hello Scott, tremendous video, I wanted to ask you a couple of questions but don't want to clutter the public chat. What's the best way to contact you? Thanks, Gene
I have Google Photos and iCloud photos running at the same time on my phone. I have Google Photos set for the Original photo instead of High Quality. But, when I open both of these platforms on my computer (side by side), I can see that iCloud photos are a higher quality. To check this I downloaded the same photo from both onto my computer. The Google photo is 1.1MB and my iCloud photo is 3.8MB. Why the difference if Google is really storing the original photo? What am I missing?
That's a good question when I may not be able to answer because of a couple reasons. There could be some type of compression that's going on that doesn't impact the quality but impacts the storage, it's hard to say exactly what's going on. I agree with you that that's a bit confusing because the size difference is so massive.
Been trying to get my head wrapped around this and consolidate/organize photos from several places. When migrating from accounts like flickr, is there a way to preserve dates? When I downloaded from flickr then uploaded to google photos it applies the current date to the photos rather than the original date, so organization becomes all out of whack? Is the solution to go into each and every photo uploaded and assign the original date so things sort correctly? uhg... Secondly, I'm noticing images uploaded from my phone appear in google drive and photos, but photos uploaded from desktop Backup and Sync only appear in google photos. I have the high-quality (free setting) selected on both devices. Is this correct? thx!
Yes - I have a designated local folder on my computer for the auto uploads "google photos backup". I am also noticing issues when the nested photos/folders in this folder become nested too deep. In other words google photos backup > 2018 > photos at the park. The "photos at the park" directory gets ignored. I've had to migrate all my photos into the years folders.
Google photos are mainly stored/ backup photos hence the name, while Google drive is like a hard drive hence the word drive. It mainly consists of saved slides, docs, files, etc: And both are stored on a cloud like Dropbox, so each has their own functions.
If I transfer photos and videos to my google photos can I delete them from my computer and/or phone and expect them to still be in my google photos? I am getting rid of my dropbox (which seems to be a good idea since I have good photos) by transferring everything to google photos, deleting photos and videos from my phone and computer to free up space but want to make sure they are secure in my google photos once they are transferred in. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon.
+Tay Fisher as long as you have uploaded them to Photos, you will be able to delete them and they will still be there. You will be prompted with a message if they are fully deleted. Basically, Google will double check and ask you if you want to fully delete them.
Tay Fisher another tip is that you can have Google auto delete all your backup photos that is on your phone by x amount of days. Meaning that Google will see which pics/video you have on your phone that is backup to their cloud and delete it from your phone after let say 30 days.
Oh I was reading all the comment's....never heard back ground music at all concentrated on What u were saying awesome job!
Although I am pretty familiar with Google Photos/Drive, your video kept my attention because of the clarity of your instruction, but most of all, that is the quality of this video is excellent. The clarity made an impression on me. Very easy on the eye. Thanks, Scott.

Really appreciate not only the information of your videos, but the quality and graphics ... fantastic job ... thank you
Thank you!
Scott, THANK YOU!!! This info can be found in Google Help for Photos and Drive which I've read, reread, pondered over, slept on, made notes about, and clicked on highlighted references until my brain cell shorted out. Thank you so much Kay! You're the best :)
*Technically Speaking You are so very welcome, Scott--keep up the great work! You actually made technology sound...dare I say...INTERESTING!!! 😳😂😳
Wow..was this helpful, in a way that even a old guy like me at 65 could understand! Good job
+John LaFleur thanks John!!
Thanks.
how biggest free storage beetwen google drive compare google photos.? and whose is the best for used??
thanks for nice tutorial
In google photos, other than the search options mentioned, is there a way to specially label a photo in google photos for a later search. For example. If I take a picture of a fish I caught on the river behind my house. And I have many of almost the same picture in the same place. Is there a way to mark that specific picture to easily find later?

Great stuff Scott. Adds a lot of needed clarity to best practices and uses for photos and drive. Thanks.
+Mg M you're welcome!
Thx!
I don't know what the hell that was in the beginning but I thought it was hella funny 😂, lol. I learned a lot here thanks!
It makes no sense.
can i add text to my photos before I make them into a movie and then upload that to FB and later when I learn how I want to upload to you tube. it is time to do another video given the change coming up for July 1?
That's so funny you mention that because I just recorded an update video on this last night! Update soon!
Good tutorial..
But the repetitive music (every 4 seconds) was doing my head in.....!!!
+Adrian Snell were working to get some more music 😁
*Technically and
Why the need for music at all? Why not remove the 'music' completely and see if anyone complains! ;-)
Thank you so much!!
Great video, thanks... what I would like to know is how do you "merge" two or more already existing albums?
It's so useful, but sort of complicated, too!
Thank you!
That background music is just so annoying.
It really is :-)
I had to stop about half way through because of the music, much too distracting.
It could be nice if keeping little low tone of background music.
i apologize for not yet quite understanding. how to take photos off drive and put only on photos. and without albums designated i am not sure if the photos in those google photos albums are in drive as just photos? (trying to free up drive space )
You can download them and upload straight to photos
Hi, if I upload a 1080p60 video longer than 30 minutes in google photos, will it counts on my storage?
hi, thanks for the video. I recently imported all my iphoto library to google photos, but couldn't sync the albums I had organized there. any tips on how to sync the albums? cheers.
Unfortunately, the albums will not sync betweent those two :( you have to recreate them in Photos
Just got google photos cause hubby & I are switching from iPhone to pixels. Chow Apple! I’m amazed by google photos. Loving having my own assistant in the app!
+ritag82 enjoy it!!!
Hello I know this isn't relevent today, at the time you made this video you mentioned that deleting photos from google photos deleted them from google drive as well and the photos are moved to trash(in google photos), does that move them to google drive's trash as well?
Hi,
I need your help!!!
Thanks
So in the Google Photos folder on Drive to all you see is a bunch of pictures and they aren't broken into month like "01" for Jan or "02" for Feb?
Can I print from my pc with google photos or with google drive?
Am backing up photos from Google Photos to LG Drive going from my dying phone to Acer Tablet. I have changed names on all photos. When I delete Google Photos on phone still functioning will I still have my photos present on my Google drive on my tablet? I am also using folders on my tablet Google Drive.
Well explained, clear instructions. Thanks.
(I don't mean public on Google+, or shared with a link.) I have a couple of public albums, but as far as I can see (and as far as I check any forums) nobody really knows how to create a public album (or make any existing album public).
i just watched your video abt photos, but was 2 years old, any new version???
Been thinking about making a new one
Do you have any solution ? if yes then please share
Thanks
Great Video. Question, I have photos in mt I cloud account, Google Photos, and my Verizon cloud. I believe if I delete a photo from one of the platforms, it deleted them in the other two? If I want to stop using the Verizon cloud and I cloud, what do I need to do? I'm using an I Phone 7
If I upload a video directly from a blogger, will my storage count?
Great content, thanks. The background noise ("music"?) is an unfortunate distraction. I know some people like it, but maybe they can listen to it privately on their own devices. I reviewed all of the comments, and the ones finding the background soundtrack (NOT your speaking) a distraction were overwhelmingly greater than the other way around.
Scott,
Great video.
They are here....but how do get them there (backed up onto Google Photo?)
"Help me, Scotty-Wan Kenobi,
... You're my only hope!"
P.S. One more OGNQ
(Old Guy Novice Question):
....and please forgive me if you've already addressed this in videos...
They say "brevity is the soul of wit."
Apparently, it seems, I have neither.
Thanks so much for this video!
How can you choose photos from your album when you are in another app, such as a photo edit app or Instagram? I wanted to select pictures from an Ali bum I created in google photos, but I didn’t see the album when I was in the other apps.. Do you know this??
Hey Scott,
thanks for the clear up.
Thanks
where do i find how many photos i have, can i sort phtos in size etc as i have iover 50,000 and need to find duplicates to delete, also can you make the pic size smaller, like sacle them down
Will Google Drive auto-generate creations like animations on its on like Google Photos?
Yes it does
In Google photos there is a file of all fotos and an album file.
You would want to upload via Google Photos rather than Google drive to make it easier since you already had his quality selected
Is google photos occupy our mobile space?
Can you please post a video to show the best way to replace "High Quality" photos with "Original Quality". I've tried a few different methods of re-uploading however google keeps the old high quality and discards the original as the EXIF data is the same.
I could delete the photos first but this seems to be a nightmare as my folder structures is not YYYY/MM like Google Photos.
Do you own a Pixel phone? If the answer is no then it won't do that unless you pay.
@@evacody1249 I do, and I pay, still no luck.
thanks for the vid! random question, i have all of my pictures on my google drive, is there any way to use those photos as a screensaver for my computer? i found a chrome extension but it only take photos from google photos, do you know of anything?
Hi there, you could download them and then set your machine to run through them. I don't know of a way outside of that. Sorry about that!
I still wanna know how to make images from google drive bigger it's so hard to find it any help?
Can you make another video on that, 2019!! As you know, the terms and conditions have been changed lately.
I would appreciate if you make another video.
I already have! Check out the channel and look for the latest video :)
Thank you Scott. That was, dare I say it? A 'high quality' video ol' chap.
+Dene. F. Love it Dene! Appreciate the comments man, glad that you join us on Fridays as well
*Technically Speaking It's enjoyable. You lads are the only American's that don't seem to make me grind my teeth by saying 'like' every other f in word. Lol.
+Dene. F. We try to sound intelligent for sure, it masks the truth 😂
I had to repeatedly stop and read the cc to understand due to background noise. Your info was great
What I want to know is- Does allowing Google Drive to have a Google Photos folder on it, but your photos are only uploaded via google photos, not thru drive, will that Google Photos folder (filled only with High Quality photos) count against your storage space? And what if your Google Photos have the occasional picture that is original quality, like a .psd file or something? Will it then be in the Drive's Google photos folder and count against the storage, only for the amount that the file(s) that aren't High Quality setting comprise? I can't find this info anywhere...
If you upload using high quality through photos, no it will not count. Also, it's only files uploaded through photos and not .psd files.
Which is best drive or google photo?
They both serve a purpose so it depends on your use case
Can I copy or move a folder from Google photos to Google drive?
Because sometimes my Google photos stops working and don't let me upload pictures in it, while drive works really smooth. I just wanna switch to drive with all the stuff I already have in Google photos. There is an option that allows me to copy all the pictures from photos to drive but that pools together all the pictures from all the albums. I want it to be separated like I have in Google photos. Is that possible?
Question: Can I remove my duplicate photos in photos.google.com automatically or pgogram action.
+Rachel Everitt yep! Sure is. You can download the file to the external
one final question/s!
Unfortunately if you empties the trash, no :(
Hi there. Any chance I can get deleted stuff after 60 days. Accidentally I deleted I just notice. Any possibility recover now after 60 days???
+Asad Ikram you can check the trash can icon to see if they are there but unfortunately, no :(
i have s query sir.
I wish I knew how to answer but alas I don't
Hello. Thank you for sharing this useful information. How can I organize my albums by either alphabetical or numerical order??
Thanks
On Google photos, the only way would be there naming convention of the album's
What????
So, is there a way to move my photos I've uploaded to Google drive over to Google photos app? The video made it sound like they are stuck in your drive and unable to be moved to the photos app.
I have a question for you. Is there a way to link or pull over photos from One Drive to Google Photo?
Hi there, I'm assuming you mean One Drive from Microsoft and unfortunately I don't know of a way other than downloading them from Microsoft and then re-uploading them to Photos
if you wonder about the music in the video, its cut from Yellow Claw - Love & War feat. Yade Lauren
Personally I didn't get it from there, I got it from a friend of mine that mixes his own music and was given permission to do so (just in case someone was wondering about copyright)
when using a Mac and iPhone with google Photos, do the content becomes duplicated if I transfer the pictures from my phone to my computers iPhoto?
If I understand your question it would only be if you upload the computers iPhoto folder
How do I get my phots back from my old iPad EnaFarnworth
*Technically Speaking add photos to multiple albums?? Which the same photos can have many different albums??
*Technically Speaking oh so if I create an album called abc. On the web , the album abc will be there?
That's correct. If you create the abc album it will be in both places. And yes, pictures can be in a number of albums
*Technically Speaking if I were to delete a picture (cat) in galley, it will be deleted in Google photos?? And if I deleted a picture (dog) in Google photos, it will be deleted in galley??
Hi
How can delete all my photos on Email (Google photos) and keep them in my device ?
I have a google pixel 2 xl... meaning unlimited storage in google photos for the next couple of years... well... i have found you can sync all of your google photos into a drive folder automatically...I would like to transfer just SOME pictures... not everything...my google drive is limited to only 15 GB..so is it possible to port just SOME google photos into drive?
Can you send Google photos to Wal-mart or Walgreens to make hard copies...I've been trying for days on my Android... Help!!!
I'm not 100% sure on that, I'm sorry!
Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks Michael really appreciate the kind words!!👍
You'd have to assume that anyone with the link would be able to see it, but you can limit who can see or share.
If I delete a picture that is already backed up,Will that picture permanently deleted ?
I shot a 4k video and uploaded it on google photos. The upload size was 1.5 gb but later on when i accessed it, it showed only 50 mb and was playable only at 360p. Help!
I use ios and was backing up photos n videos!! It started to backup a movie as well n i wish not to backup that..!!! How can i change setting in ios for what to backup n what to not... pls help
Thank you for the update; it clarifies a lot. I'm still struggling to find
the best way to share a collection of photos (album, folder) with others, and allow them to download or add in their own photos from that same event, without having all of us (domestic and international) sign up for a new service.
Is this correct? thx!
Hey Greg, you're correct on the date thing, it's... Less fun :/
Also, on the upload part, do you have the folder selected to be shown in the app?
Yes - I have a designated local folder on my computer for the auto uploads "google photos backup". I am also noticing issues when the nested photos/folders in this folder become nested too deep. In other words google photos backup > 2018 > photos at the park. The "photos at the park" directory gets ignored. I've had to migrate all my photos into the years folders.
Yeah, the nested becomes an issue because I believe they search for a type of file (that's my opinion)
Is it ok if i upload my personal photos in google photos ? Please explain
That depends. If you're comfortable with your personal photos there then yes. Otherwise, no? That's up to you.
If i delete pics from google photos will the pics will be deleted from the google drive too?
How do you transfer photos from Google photos using a android device to transfer photos to an external drive?
