Sam Chui released a video that should clear things up between you. He said that he does not get paid by airlines nor does he charge them for anything. He also apologizes for his comment on your Vistara Air video.
My Dad worked as an aircraft engineer for Nigerian Airways in the 1980s. Dad and all the ex-pats lived at the Lagos Airport Hotel. When I went out there to see him I would go flying every day round Nigeria in a 737, had the jump seat, great experience for a 14 year old. There are some lovely places to go to, and I absolutely loved drinking Chapmans. Found it here in UK but not the same as what I enjoyed there. Met some lovely people too.
Rano Air snackbox is more than what I got on an INTERNATIONAL flight from Houston to Toronto. Being an Aussie, we are used to getting at least a filling meal & a sugary drink flying international. Sydney to Auckland is only 2 hours but I've got delicious banquets on those flights. But 5 hours Houston to Toronto & United wouldn't even give me a muffin or a packet of chips. Barely got enough softdrink to keep me awake on the flight & coffee was non-existent & I had to buy my snacks using ONLY my credit card; which I WASN'T going to do converting AU$ to US$ for a US$10 packet of chips & a US$5 can of Cola. Especially when I had cash in my wallet. Nice one Rano Air, only a 90min domestic flight & you gave some snacks to beat the hunger with; NICE!
Four years ago I flew DUL to YOW, which is a 2 hour flight. UA Y Class. We were given complimentary soft drinks and snacks. I had a bunch of Belgian waffle cookies! And that flight was much shorter than yours!
@@joeekeator9271 Not at all. I have travelled to many African countries and I have never experienced such. In my own country (South Africa) it happens mainly on the roads, but not so much at airports.
Cahill is absolutely right when talking about how Nigeria can dominate and be a msaaive player on the world stage. Look at the gulf Arab countries living in wealth because of their oil, Nigeria has so much oil as well but because of corruption, the money generated isn't being used efficiently. I know that the gulf Arab countries don't have Nigeria's massive 200+ million population to deal with but at least their oil money goes into important things like infrastructure.
True, Nigerian " Big Men" , including politicians , religious and tribal chiefs , shamelessly looted the country of its wealth and bought mansions , glorious lifestyles and even prestige and adulation abroad. I can remember a time in the late 1970s when one Naira was worth more than one pound sterling : today its £1 = N 2,101.
A lot of those countries are very rich at the top and deep in poverty at the bottom, though. In other words, they're powerful on the world stage but the ordinary people are struggling. I wouldn't use, for example, the UAE as an example of an aspirational country.
The 747s are for Hajj flights to Saudi Arabia (charters). This year they transported nearly 25,000 pilgrims and officials. In Nigeria, Hajj flights are subsidised by the government. In 2024 Air Peace and Flynas (Saudi) were also used for Hajj. Not all flights leave from Kano.
Having a Nigerian Girl Friend and knowing the challenges of Nigerians to do simple day to day tasks. I would think the Government could spend their money more wisely, than subsidizing Haj Flights!
Thank you for visiting my country...your criticisms help them improve, so I like your videos dear Josh... loved your Airpeace video, now this... happy to watch

You really know Nigeria well. The rush for everything, the begging at airports and offices, the delays, and sometimes unnecessary aggressive attitude to travelers, especially to fellow Nigerians, can be annoying. One gets really psychologically ready before getting on a trip to Nigeria.
Nice video. I love watching your trips in Africa. Identifying your luggage before boarding the plane reminds me of my first trips to Turkey or Tunisia in the 80s.
20:22 a lot of people in Kano and northern Nigeria are muslims, so the 747s are used to fly people to Saudi Arabia for hajj and umrah. Air Saudia does the same as well and fly to Kano during hajj times. Edit: 25:10 I didn't see your answer when I commented this.

The Nigerian government spends a lot of public money funding these pilgrimage flights to Saudi Arabia every year. Companies like Max Air are contracted for this purpose.
