@JoshCahill Bro, Most of the people you saw skipping the line are either corrupt politicians and/ or their relatives ""especially"" in First Class, there's no way the crew would recognize this many people unless its arranged. The average monthly income in Iraq is around $500 and in many cases its way less than that so $2400 is just impossible for an average Joe. there's a reason why I never traveled with Iraqi Airways, its just disastrous and from way they conduct themselves you can rightfully assume that they don't receive proper training and they rob people. I'd rather pay extra and travel with Qatar Airways than deal with this crap ,its just embarrassing.

It all flows down from the top. The staff might be disappointed because they want to deliver a better product, & then it reflects in their attitude. There are several factors involved here.
Its definitely cultural! That needs to be changed.
Please review something more positive next time Josh 🙂I look forward to it!

    This airline is Corrupted
And oil is a curse in Iraq because a lot of people grow up this midst that we are a country that is rich with oil so we should sit back on a desk and be a boss.
Customer care in general is the worst in Iraq in all the industries.
And if you ask anyone to do their job then they will be offended.

    Hi Josh,
This is Abdullah, Iraqi. I appreciate your video for showing the sad truth about the state of Iraqi airways customer service. Idk if youve known, but Iraqi airways is one of the oldest Arab airlines in the Middle East. And used to be the best one in 1970s and 80s which had fleet of several B747 which back then was something. my mum tells me how great the crew were back then and how good the food was even in economy class. but after the 2nd gulf war, iraq sent most of its fleet to iran to keep them away from air strikes, but after the war, iran refused to return the aircrafts so they basically stole them. and after 2003 corruption ate up the entire country and what you experienced is the result of corruption in iraq.

As an Iraqi, I appreciate your candid review. The core issue with this airline stems from its state funding, which results in hiring practices based on government connections rather than merit. This lack of focus on profitability or expansion has hindered its competitiveness. The current business model is unsustainable and requires significant reforms to achieve long-term success.

No offense meant, but your comment sounds so naïve, Social Ghost... Iraq is not Denmark (your avatar has the Danish flag, so I suppose you're Danish).
Terrible management? Yes, definitely. But lack of training? Perhaps, but first you'd have to convince both the management to offer the training and then the crew to accept it and later to actually use what they were supposed to learn...
Nepotism and corruption are the real reasons. They probably got the job because they are the nephew or niece of someone who is a friend of a friend of another person to whom an airline official is related or owes some favor. In turn, that airline official got HIS job (I wrote "his" because it would be unlikely to be a woman in Iraq) through similar connections, only more powerful (some politician or rich and influential man, and the distinction between them is often blurred in Iraq). The higher ranking one is, the more powerful those connections were. Merit, skill, knowledge? What are those words? 🤔
If you were thinking along the lines of just "ineffective and incompetent management", that doesn't even scratch the surface!
