    I have a Durango 2014 with the same noise. I thought they were shock absorbers and finally, thanks to your video, the problem was solved. Congratulations for such a didactic video. Greetings from Chile.

    Thanks, you solved a 6 month mystery. Mine wasn't the links but you guided me in the right direction of the loose bolts on the bracket.

    Dodge dealership charged me $2391, replaced the rack and pinion first which cost me $1915.91. It was leaking a bit and they claim it had a little play in it. Didn't fix the popping noise. Took it back later on and the a-hole service advisor told me that the right front strut was bad and needed to be replaced. Strut was replaced, costing me $475.09. Still didn't fix the popping noise. Social media is very powerful. I raised hell with them via Facebook and FB messenger and even messaged Dodge. The service manager had me bring it back to them 3 1/2 weeks ago, I finally got it back today. I did get a partial refund, the driver's side strut had been replaced at an earlier date due to a leak so my money was refunded for both struts. They went through the entire front end, even putting chassis ears on it. They found a broken bolt on that L bracket, replaced the bolt, didn't fix it. Tech disconnected the passenger side sway bar end link and noise went away. He robbed an end link off of another new Durango on the lot and low and behold the popping noise stopped! They didn't charge me for all the work that they did this time around, not sure how many other parts they threw at it trying to fix the problem. Total refund amounted to $860.06. At least they didn't try to stiff me. I just find it unsettling that a "shade tree mechanic" (no insult intended) can figure this out but they had my '13 Durango for over 3 weeks. That says something about the ineptness of their "techs".

      Sometimes it takes a real mechanic that doesn’t just do it for the money to fix things the right way. I’ve been working on cars now for 20 years.

      @@CronesVlog indeed. My dad was an auto mechanic since the late 60's after he returned home from Vietnam and retired 6 years ago as a reefer mechanic. He taught me and his dad taught him, if you're gonna do something do it right or don't do it at all.

    I'm here in Los Angeles, and my dealership is about 42miles away, and they have replaced all the arms, top and bottom, all bushings, and the popping and clucking coming front he right still there....after watching your video, I will notify them what the issue is....and have them do the repair.....4 attempts and hopefully the fifth one is the one. thank you.

    My 2014 Citadel was making the same noise. I used the same replacement part. When I made the repair, I discovered that the part had been replaced once before and caused the sway bar to have an oblong fitment. I will probably drill out the mount and press fit a bearing. I would have been nice to have listed the size sockets and actually showed the work. I do appreciate your taking the time to post this video, it helped me with the grease fitting placement.

    You the real MVP for this video. Mine has been doing this every time it gets cold. Sprayed with a silicone lubricant and no more noise! That should hold me over until I can take it to my mechanic. Thank you kind sir.

    If anyone is wondering, it's easier to use an 18mm rachet wrench on the nut for the sway bar link and use an 8mm socket instead of vice grips to prevent the bolt from spinning.

    I bought these parts from rock auto and they are correct. I am worried because I didn't confirm which side I installed on which side. I installed driver side and compared the old and new after removing old from durango. It looked identical and fit like the old. I bolted it down and moved to the passenger side. I realized I did not double check and put the parts side by side. I also realized turning the new upside down, it appeared it would fit in driver side. I looked all over the new for part number so I can verify, but part number is not stamped on it. I installed it and took a test drive. Much better. I think I am good right?

    When you take the skews out of the L bracket does the vehicle need to be raised or can it be on the ground? Do I need to do 1 skrew at a time or take it all off at once?

    Narrow down the problem for me because I thought it was the differential.

  • @DieselDoggy429
    @DieselDoggy429 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It could be - upper or lower ball joint, also look at the top of your shock mount sometimes those go bad, then you also have the wheel bearing, linkage like stated or the main a arm bushings that are the largest bushings closer to center

    • @CronesVlog
      @CronesVlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Replaced both linkages and the noise has been gone since.

    Mine is like a crunching sound and the dealership said it was the sway bar bushings which is molded onto the sway bar. I would have to buy the whole sway bar for this problem . What are your thoughts, could it be the links?

      Hard to say really with out looking and the bushings to see if they are hard and cracked.

    Old post but I'll throw this out there. We had same year, hemi AWD and it started making the same noise. Took it to the dealer at least 6 times...couldn't find anything. Three different mechanics drove it and the service manager trying to isolate the noise. On my last visit when I was just about to trade the thing in I got a different mechanic who apparently worked some other area but was there when I was talking to the service desk. He asked me to take him out...we barely got out of the lot and he told me what it was...the shocks. The dealership owner had a jeep with the same issue. Turns out the particular shock on these vehicles had a defect in the first generation they used but Dodge had bought so many of them and the complaints were so infrequent they just kept putting them on vehicles. Problem is no TSB when out on it so I just got lucky. They replaced the shock with the newest generation and haven't had the problem since.

      GERALD WALBECK yo i jus replaced the links like this guy says about 2 days later start making same noise even worse maybe its a bad link not sure but i think it might be a rubber mount or msybe needed an alignment right after
