John Deere STX38 Drive pulley and belt, Chewed the belt up.

John Deere STX38 Drive pulley and belt. The drive belt broke and the riding mower would not move. The transmission drive pulley on the John Deere STX38 is known to wear out and can throw the keyway out. Then the tractor will not drive . This john deere stx38 had a broken drive belt , worn out by age. I adjust the drive belt on the john deere stx38 . You measure the spring. Remove the rear axle from a John Deere STX38 , Yellow deck model. Replacing the drive belt on John Deere STX38. riding mower belt replace. Riding mower repair. wtbm123 . M74747, AM104405 . The idlers are all different part numbers so you will need to look them up.

That was a little bit of a challenge getting all those guards dropped down and the deck removed but should last a long time now. Nice work Terry

Great video ! Neighbor lady had a beautiful well kept stx 38 yellow deck that I found for her .She said it started freewheeling going down het steep hill ,did it twice ,now she is afraid of it .I am thinking belt is just worn ,stretched or something .It is very steep her property! It is the manual shift trans axle ,not the hydro!

Yea Looking at belts and idlers would be a good start . Maybe adjust . Hopefully it is something out side of the rear axle. The top pulley on rear axle i would look at and make sure the keyway is good . . Hope you find the issue. . Also sometimes the back tires just slide on the grass and people do not realize it is happening

My belt makes grinding noise when engages. Never replaced that belt since owned it not sure if it's dry or worn out. Can you use belt dressing on a drive belt.? Did not do it last year only after getting it our for spring virus old mowertoo but mowes and runs good

If grinding noise check all pulleys . . Belt dressing usually does not work well on drive belts .
