Part Two of my look at the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace.
Initially this project was done several years ago and I wasn't able to post it on my TH-cam channel. After going back and doing some re-editing, cutting and tweaking of it to make it acceptable to TH-cam it's finally made its way to my channel - at least for now
Quantum of Solace Part One - • The Craig Reconstructi...
Quantum of Solace Part Three - • The Craig Reconstructi...
Quantum of Solace Part Four - • The Craig Reconstructi...
All my missing Bond projects that I've done that have been removed from TH-cam are available to watch on my website:

Camille is the only Bond girl that didn't sleep with Bond. She's unique in that respect. Also for a relative beginner, the actress did a pretty good job with what they gave her. I never understood why Bond would rescue her on the boat only to leave her clearly injured at the dock with a terrible joke. Bizarre.

@Dr. Mercury Her character was a Lesbian.. and she's not a primary "Bond Girl".. she wasn't the leading lady, which is what I meant.

How did they redecorate and change all the computers in MI6 in the hour between Casino Royale and Quantum?

Love your work John, really great, re-listening years later while doing my garden work today.
But two things, maybe three!! 😁
    1. It's Forster not Forres-ter as you pronounce it.
    2. The PTS had to have the opening car chase to establish White in car, tie directly to CR and if it was not there imagine how short the film would be!
    3. In my opinion I think the PTS should of included the White interrogation scene then big foot chase and cut to credits once Bond shoots Mitchell while hanging upside down.

8:30 It actually would have been an interesting idea to name them after colours. It's very Fleming. Remember Drax' employees who all had to have mustaches?
You have to think of simple, brilliant craziness.

This is the only person online who has the same loathing of today's quick edits. This isn't even a good film in any sense. Nothing spectacular makes me return, unlike other Bonds that weren't perfect, but at least they had a killer score or amazing camera work, or incredible sets. But this? You couldn't see it even if it had anything worth watching.

The Living Daylights had a better roof top chase although the flying carpet scene was cut off.

Ok so to assist in clearing up the confusion you have about Camille and her going straight to Green when he tried to kill her. She is smart and went straight there in an attempt to trick him into thinking she was actually loyal. We find this out by the dialogue itself. So she does this in attempt to further manipulate Green. It was a good idea really bc if she ran then it would have confirmed his suspicions. By going straight to him it at least makes it harder. Ultimately we find out it was in vane and he didn't bite. But regardless he decides to get rid of her by giving her to General Medrano. Why? Well he knows that's what she wants so she'll go along with it and he knows the General's... uh... reputation with women. So basically he assumes the General will just kill her. He straight up says it in the movie. So all of this is revealed in the film not sure why it's so confusing for you although I will admit it was careless of Green to do this but it shows how he underestimated Camille. Classic bad guy mistake.
Now you reveal that you know all this but still find it stupid. Well again granted it is a cliche bad guy mistake. The bond series is filled to the brim with cliche bad guy mistakes... Why does this one bother you while the others don't? I'm just curious.

I agree with this 100%. This is classical Bond stuff. The villains always underestimate Bond girls ánd Bond himself. Plus, they usually want to show off their gadgets or make his death as unpleasant as possible. Bond villains are always arrogant and stupid. But I do agree that Dominic should have had something special. He wasn't memorable and he didn't come across as very dangerous either. The actor said, in an interview, that he wanted some kind of cool scar or something, but the makers of the movie thought he didn't need any of that. I think they were wrong.

I always see the quick edit as a sloppy effect being disguised, a director without a film esthetic, lacking literary background with a need for detail, or theatre training awareness that gives one a sense of interior or psychological time, or just bad kung fu.
It is why I enjoy older films. Why any producer puts up with such unprofessional sloppiness when so many people want the job in the biz is beyond my pay grade. It is simple lack of knowledge. The director on Quantum is a joke.

It's been three years since this was posted, but I'll ask anyway: Can someone tell me why Bond jumps out of Camille's car after she tries to shoot him? He's a bad-ass super-spy and has neutralized a threat. Why jump out when he's grabbed the wrist that held the gun? She's not Jaws or Hinx. He needs to question her, not escape her.

Plot convenience. It requires Bond to follow her which leads him to Greene.

    • @TheUkester69
      @TheUkester69 ปีที่แล้ว

@@MrHEC381991 Thank you. That's the honest answer. I asked the same question of some other dude who made a comment video about Quantum and he went on about how Bond was in grave danger because he hadn't neutralized the threat, but also no longer wanted to hurt innocent people, especially women and blah blah blah.

Do you still read your comments? Can I just thank you for these reviews & the time & thought that went into them? I have a family of philistines; drip-fed trite tropes every night from subscription streamers like Netflix, Amzon, NowTV, etc. And they seem to have NO standards in quality film. Nor do they have any interest in how they are constructed. It can feel very lonely, being the only person who has even seen "12 Angry Men" (1957) for instance, & who opine injudicious twaddle such as
"We preferred Die Another Day to From Russia With Love" &
"Yeahhhh...OHMSS was a bit too serious for us; Not as funny as Diamonds are Forever"
You cover & elucidate ALL my indispositions regarding these Bond titles. You really have reassured people who feel correspondingly about their ambivalence with the way trend has become the Bond look. It used to have its own look with rising wide-angle Ariel shots during Barrys' soaring strings, protracted close ups, coherent car chases, clear plots, & a prescient James Bond who is fun to watch outwit the villain at every turn! lol Anyway! Thanks, old man!

All of the random cuts and confusing editing gave me a headache and caused me to dislike this film in the first five minutes.
