Part Four of my look at the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace.
Initially this project was done several years ago and I wasn't able to post it on my TH-cam channel. After going back and doing some re-editing, cutting and tweaking of it to make it acceptable to TH-cam it's finally made its way to my channel - at least for now.

The sad part is, I felt they could have incorporated the actual Quantum of Solace short story into the movie in some form. The whole story takes at dinner party with Bond engaging in conversation with a Governor who tells about a troubled relationship between a loveless married couple, and how he devised the term "Quantum of Solace" out of it. I'm sure that scene could have been worked into either the scene set on the plane or even Greene's party that Bond infiltrates. Sure the story lacks in action, although it does allude to Bond having completed a mission in which he blew up a ship with a thermite bomb. Maybe that scene could have been worked in somewhere?
There's a good movie hiding somewhere in Quantum. Craig does just fine in this movie. But it's a mess. Except for the ending. I thought the ending was beautiful.

Choice between tamahori and forester? I’ll take tamahori any day. He can frame shots, edit a movie and knows how to film action shots (see jaguar vs Aston Martin chase) as well as sword fight. As long as you keep him on a leash, with no creative input and tell him he loses a finger every time he thinks of cgi, you’d have a decent movie.
Die Another Day wasn't bad directed.
The producers just wanted to force too much CGI into it.
It was a great spy thirller - until they went to that CGI ice hotel.

One day I’ll sit down and write a defense for this flick. Until then I’ll continue to enjoy it. It’s not perfect, but it’s no near the bottom of the worst list as people want to place it.
They should really do this: release the raw filming and let people edit their own version. There could be a good movie to make of it.

Craig doesn't just have a hard on for gas tanks, he is also obsessed with construction working - Casino Royale construction site, Sinking building under construction, Quantum driving through construction, Skyfall bull dozer
Maybe Hotel Desert owners stipulated that they want it to be referred to as a Hotel. To Possibly drive Tourist Dollars????
The name of the hotel is not "desert" is called "la Perla de las dunas".
Hopefully Shatterhand will be a great entry, the last one for Daniel Craig
Darcy Cardinal it won’t be the title for the film. They haven’t come up with a title yet.

The girl with the beer in the hotel is Charlie Chaplin's grand daughter or great grand daughter. I can't remember which
M trusted bond seeing that he must be on to something if he'd risk taking out those agents in the elevator and digging a deeper hole for himself. I always figured that's why she changed her tune.
The post production is what messed it up.
Pre and post. Actually the whole thing was a mess.

The action in Spectre is so much BETTER than in this movie. Overall Spectre is so much better than Quantum of Solace.
So, the best and the worst Bond movies back to back...
When Quantum came out, I enjoyed it better than Casino Royale. It reminded me more of something from the Brosnan era.

While I love your videos and the time and effort you've invested, I do think you're terribly wrong on QoS and especially Camille.
I concur that the boat and plane chase are bad and the film suffers from the hurried writing, but visually and storywise I think it has yet to be matched by any other Bondfilm.
I do hope you'll eventually be able to enjoy it more.

well for me is not a real bond movie, no bondtheme, no my name is bond, and gunbarrel at the end, worst of the worst, like u said it has so many problems. i only like the last 5min
