HELL YEAH!! SUCH A GOOD MOVIE! Believe it or not, historians have said that this is the most accurate portrait of Billy The Kid they had ever seen. You should watch the sequel! It's really good as well. I remember watching this movie on CBS Sunday Night Movie in 1995.
The scene in part 2 when Billy was arrested and is in the upper floor of that 2 story building, when he says "HELLO BOB", then shoots the sheriff really happened like that.
I like this movie, but to say historians have said this is the most accurate portrayal of Billy the Kid is not 100% true. One historian, Paul Hutton, called the film one of the most accurate movies about Billy the Kid as of June 1990 and a few other historians have agreed, but as they all pointed out you also have to be familiar with the other films about Billy the Kid up until that point. They all were extremely inaccurate. So to call Young Guns historically accurate is not true....which I know u didn't, you did say the film was considered the most accurate to date. What historians liked about the movie is that it is the only movie about Billy the Kid up to that time it was made that portrayed and used the real historical Regulators characters in the movie. Over all the movie is full of historical inaccuracies, such as the scene with Buck Shot Robert's coming to hunt Billy and his gang for the bounty. That is not true. Buck Shot was leaving the territory because he had had enough of the Lincoln County War and the Regulators ambushed him and killed him. There we many other historical inaccuracies in the movie, and the Lincoln County War was actually a lot more "colorful" and a lot more bloody than the movie showed. Over all a good movie and I enjoyed it and have seen it more than once and glad Hannah and Ash got to see and react to it. It doesn't get enough credit - all the Western's in the 90's: Tombstone, Wyatt Earp, Dances with Wolves, Unforgiven may not have been made without Young Guns being a success since everyone in Hollywood thought Western's were dead.
Most of these characters were actual historical figures and the events depicted actually happened though they were Hollywooded up to some extent. The most obvious departure from reality is that the regulator's patron John Tunstall was only 24 years old in real life and many of the regulators were older than depicted here. Most of them were actually older than Tunstall. Also although Lawrence Murphy was a real figure, he was in a hospital in Santa Fe dying from cancer by the time the events in the film happened. His young business partner James Dolan was the main antagonist in the Lincoln County War.

In the early days the vast majority of immigrants into the U.S. were English, Ulster Scots and Welsh. Then, later, during the potato famine, ethnic, Catholic Irish people began coming in droves. So there was definitely a rivalry brought over from the old country. Especially between the English and Ulster Scots on one side and the Irish on the other.

The story of Henry McCarty, alias William H.Bonney, a.k.a. Billy the Kid. His Pals the Regulators and the corruption within Lincoln County, New Mexico. But it isn't a true story at all bud, the characters may be true sure, but not the story. Billy never killed Pat Garrett, they were friends running in the same gang for a while before parting ways. Not some random ass marshal/bounty hunter looking for him at a bar and not knowing him at all. It's just glorifying Billy with typical American over the top bullshit.
You can check out the Infamous America/Legends of the Old West podcast and you realize some of the things that happened really did. They really did gun down one of the Regulators because he wanted to take them back whilst Billy and co wanted to string them up because of what happened to Tunstall.
17:05 Great reaction Ash and Hannah , just a tiny bit of an observation concerning most western films . I realized most of these films capitalize on the human aspect of a gunfight . At that age not a lot of people were accustomed to gunfights and hell of a lot less knew how to shoot . So psychology plays a much greater role as you can see from the bounty hunter being used to such situations and being calm while the "young guns" are panicking trying to find cover and shooting all over the place . You can also notice similar focus on stress in films like Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood . (also its called "hallucinogenics" :P) Looking forward to your next film reaction
When Dirty Steve called his horse dog, in the scene where they're high, he doesn't think he's riding a dog. He named his horse Dog. And when Charlie wanted to 'get his carrot wet', he went looking for a certain woman and when he found her said "Ma'am, I just want to hold you". That's all he wanted to do with her because she was his mother.

Sometime the hardest shot to hit is when your wide open, to much time to think. Plus pistols shot straight for about 10 foot back then lol. Buckshot made himself a small (as he could) target and got the jump on them.
Terrence Stamp was actually a bigger get than Anthony Hopkins at the time this movie was made. Hopkins didn't really become Hopkins until The Silence of the Lambs a few years after this.
Uhm, I think SOMEONE needs to take some Irish dance classes so they can learn how difficult it really is. Irish dance is not just a dance skill. It is a seriously physically demanding sport. This movie's obviously a different experience when you first see it now in 2023, but I remember when it came out in the '80s -- it really surprised everyone.
What a treat, GOT reaction AND a reaction to my favorite movie of all time in one day! Glad youse guys did this one
The Revenant should be next on your list of movies about the American frontier..stars Leonardo DiCaprio..very satisfying film
You simply can't stop now... Young Guns II is SO much more fun. It's one of few sequels I prefer over the original!!
This was a childhood favourite of mine love it
Your persistence in trying to pronounce certain words, week in week out, is admirable!
Some weeks Hannah comes across as sweet and innocent, and others she's an outright sociopath! I have to admit, I find it thoroughly entertaining
The epitaph had only one word - pals
Bruh the opening to this is exactly the chemistry we like. Y’all eventually got there.
Fun fact : Tom Cruise has a small part in the last shooting scene, and so does Jon Bon Jovi 🙂
Lotte Larsen: Was Bon Jovi shot down in a Blaze of Glory?
@@LA_HA 🤣 yes
@@lottelarsen2918 haha
"Regulaaaytoors, mount up"
Hannah: "He's a fruit loop." LOL, best quote of the whole reaction.
Hannah is the most adorable and emotional entity on the face of the planet. Protect her at all costs Ash!!!
Been waiting for another video, face lit up as soon as i got a notification. You guys really do brighten up some peoples day with your content. (also loving the hair Ash your embodying that vintage look like a pro)
Gotta check out young guns 2 now. Very fun movie and a great sequel.
Young Guns 2 is far superior to this and is still one of my favorite westerns of all times. You must react to it.
These where real people this movie is somewhat accurate historical and I thought y'all joked around to much and didn't get the true story and to be honest who ever did the edit of this reaction missed major points of the movie
Got to watch Young guns 2
this movie is based on the real life lincoln county war. Very interesting. The real story is better than anything hollywood ever made of it
So awesome that you reacted to this one, loved this movie since I was a kid. Also I never knew that Buckshot guy was riding a donkey ever, y'all caught it immediately! Good stuff, great reaction as always! Have a good one!
Please be one of the few reactors to watch Young Guns 2. While not as famous as the first (for whatever weird reason), I feel like it's a case where the sequel is better than the original. It's certainly more cinematic.
Please watch (the life aquatic with Steve Zissou) starring Bill Murray and many more. I think Hanna will love the movie for the story and comedy and Ash like it too and will pick up on all the symbolisms
19:06 That's funny because I grew up on this movie and I was and remain EXTREMELY emotionally invested in these people and their losses...
Sometime the hardest shot to hit is when your wide open, to much time to think. Plus pistols shot straight for about 10 foot back then lol. Buckshot made himself a small (as he could) target and got the jump on them.
Lol 😂😂 I wasn't expecting a no neck Hannah appearance for this movie 😂😂 the chicken grease was too funny. 😂😂
Terrence Stamp was actually a bigger get than Anthony Hopkins at the time this movie was made. Hopkins didn't really become Hopkins until The Silence of the Lambs a few years after this.
Kneel Before Zod!!
@@garethdavies8004 If they haven't yet, they should do Superman and Superman II
didnt know the intro to fucking regulators was in this movie wow.. i just looked at the screen so perplexed and surprised 🤣🤣🤷♀🤷♀
I love this movie I was born and raised in New Mexico and there is so much history of Billy the kid out there. Billy Love Mexico.
Uhm, I think SOMEONE needs to take some Irish dance classes so they can learn how difficult it really is. Irish dance is not just a dance skill. It is a seriously physically demanding sport. Also look for the you tube video about the biomechanics of irish dance for a small insight into what it does to your body.
21:49 "Top o' the mahrnin to ya ghurls!"
When Hannah slipped into that dialects....i LOVED IT!!
Ash saying we don’t need a woman to make us dinner like he’s at the table too 😂😂😂😂
Awesome! Young Guns 2!
Peyote is a cactus in the US that makes you hallucinate. The Native Americans still grow and use it on the reserves.
This movie's obviously a different experience when you first see it now in 2023, but I remember when it came out in the '80s -- it really surprised everyone. Up until then, so many western/cowboy movies were just old school and formulaic, and this movie injected youth and an MTV-style craziness into the genre. :) Anyway, you probably won't, but I hope you guys watch Young Guns 2, because the sequel's even better -- at least in my opinion.
7:18 fun fact: That wasn't a replacement for the other F word you're thinking of, this was just around the time THAT word started being used as a curse word and not as its common usage which meant "to strike with a stick".
GUYS! HEY YOU GUYS!
YA'LL SEE THE SIZE OF THAT CHICKEN?! THE SIZE OF THAT COCKA DOODLE GOTTDAMN DOO!
My mom shared this movie with me when i was a teen, forgot how good it was thank you guys!
The Lincoln County War is an iconic event in the legacy of the "old west".
That and the Gunfight at the place between Foy's photography and a laundrette with Wyatt Earp. (It's not strictly at the Ok Coral).
Too much ego for me. I couldn't even make it to the movie. Get over yourselves
2nd is the best, first one is like an introduction to some character
Someone probably pointed this out but in case. Don't forget one of the fun dynamics is that Emelio Estevez and Charlie Sheen are brothers in real life. I can't remember why Emelio is Esteves but they are both sons of Martin Sheen from greats like Apocolypse now and West Wing.
It was cut out of the movie for reason, but the woman in the scene that Charlie goes to see and hugs was actually his mother.
I feel old as dirt reading the posts about “fun facts” LOL! I really enjoy u guys reviewing these movies !!❤
I actually live in New Mexico I'm about an hours drive from where billy is buried I've been to old fort Sumter and saw his grave
Such a classic!! One of those that I could watch over and over.
Y’all need to watch Young Guns II, it’s MUCH better!!!
One of my favourite films, watched it all the time growing up! 😍
It would be lucky that Ash was even born in 1988...what a nobler young thing
I just finished watching Hannah's latest upload...nice, both videos for us today! Love it!
"who cooked the meal?"...."men!"....."sort yourself out. love the back and fourth banter between you two lmfao
this movie was loosely based on actual historical facts, and actual characters involved in the Lincoln County War
Fun Fact: It was a clear black night, a clear white moon.
Ash, this is the funniest you've ever been. Hilarious!
It’s all about the soundtrack for me! 💖
This is such a good movie. Hope you all enjoyed it and will do the sequel.
Great Reactions To One Of My All Time Favorite Western Movie's, Guy's
