Released 17 years ago today. I drove about an hour in a hale storm to get it 😂😂😂😂 Great album. Underrated too. Some of the best songs of their career on this record.
James Barnett I know every song on both those albums. I wasn’t saying it’s on down 2. I’m just saying it’s the best song that represents them as a whole. And I will always think Nola is the superior.
being only 21, these guys are one of the bands that outshines the new stuff thats out there, lets face it the newer stuff isn't really what it should be but older bands like Down, Pantera, Sabbath, will always remain timeless because when you hear the music you tell they actually put effort into it, and not just released something that will sell massively and the masses forget in an instant. Down are a timeless metal band, one of the few.
This song has got beeeeeautiful lyrics! Down is just perfect: gifted, talented and they're charisma in live shows is just amazing!!!! So glad that Anselmo nowadays is back with strenght and moving forward! Let's hope he'll keep up with it!
Saw them last night in Knoxville, along with The Melvins, Haarp, and Evil Army. Front row. That was an INSANE concert! Phil was maybe 3 feet in front of me.
i haven't stopped singin this song all week its fuckin awesome!!!! i think parts of this tune are relating back to his days of heavy drug abuse. either way phil is still on form n' tearin up everysong that down do!!!
The intro riff is just so fucking sick man, since the Down II album came out,it has never left my possession, that quite possibly the best album ive ever heard man,far none, every song is fucking killer, but then again, pretty much anything that Mr. Anselmo Mr. Bower Power, and Mr. Weindstein and Rex and Mr. Keenan touch is pure fucking gold man,it just turns into pure utter perfection whatever project they're in,long live the southern metal gods that is Down.
I may not be the most incisive person wandering around on the crust of the earth, but I'd damn near swear that this is Phil's apology note to the rest of Pantera.
in the morning it takes me quite a while to clear my head, then as the day moves on i find it hard to smile at some things said!!!!! fuyckin love the chorus of this sends shivers down my spine!!! fuckin a phil and the rest of down!!
yep totally, i find down are a band that will be around for a long long time, they just make music very different and fresh to whats out there. as for pantera ... they are timeless. their music will be around forever just like led zepp or black sabbath.
phil anselmo it's a surviver, i like his trully dedication to heavy rock, it's the kind of atitude we' expect, about Vinnie i respect him a lot, and Dime is in a better place.
haha thats rad man i remember when my love for pantera his its peak when i was bit younger and i use to have these dreams about jamming with dime and phil and it was in this shed setting over looking this beach near my house it was pretty cool use to feel so fucking real like just still blows my mind aye.... down , pantera, SJR best fucking bands period!
can we all just agree that DOWN make fukin unique sublime music?????better than any of this new wave bullshit better than anything you'll hear on the radio......but really appreciated with a big ass J in hand and chilling out......
@MrYomom66 It sure is! Kirk Windstein! Still touring around with Down, and he also just put out a new Crowbar album a few months ago if you didn't already know!
down rocks, but i saw them this summer which was the third time I've seen them and Phil's voice wasn't so great; the two other times were on the 2002 tour right before he first toured Superjoint and they were some of the best shows I've ever seen (Superjoint that summer was fucking awesome too)
@DimeLivesInUs You share my thoughts exactly! I have a close friend, she's currently in that hopeless state, I'm trying to get her to listen to this and more of Down's music. It helps me and hope it helps her!
@michaelb1479 nope wrong song it definately reminds me of something off of the great southern trendkill or one of the newer pantera albums. especially that first riff.
i ve seen them live 2 times, once with Metallica at Sofia, and once with AC/DC at Bucharest..they are great, no question about it, but the live sound system suck, they deserve better, no question about it, they should do something about it...
@dmagyer technically they are right because they probally meant no southern rock that comes out any more is even worth listening to...if thats the case then theyre right because down has been around for a while, its not new.
WERE? i last saw um @ download festival uk, an phill said they was coming back to uk soon, iv seen the 2 other london tours..So im just wondering wat country ur in, an if they r doing UK also? p[lz let me know wat u know..an enjoy meeting them, iv met um twice..got a pec an jeans sighned by all, an first time just phill done jeans an rest done ticket,.so my jeans need a 3 attack lol

Integrity101 I agree. eyes of the south is the best down song I think.

@@mattthebutcher3364
Thoughts on the two EPs?
Integrity101 I like them. Sounds like new Orleans Black Sabbath.
metal is in my veins, down is in my heart and soul. down are genius
You can play this song 100 years in the future and it will still rock you away.
Timeless!!!! \m/
Dude...they were like family. No fight and no bad words last forever. By now everything would be fine again.

I may not be the most incisive person wandering around on the crust of the earth, but I'd damn near swear that this is Phil's apology note to the rest of Pantera.
Matt Revits I think your right. Never paid attention but your onto something.
And incidentally, this is my favorite song by Down. (Although Stone the Crow is close)

phil anselmo it's a surviver, i like his trully dedication to heavy rock, it's the kind of atitude we' expect, about Vinnie i respect him a lot, and Dime is in a better place.
Ugh...this was recorded at one of my favorite venues. Mad I wasn't there that night. Boston in September, though!! Fuck yes!
haha thats rad man i remember when my love for pantera his its peak when i was bit younger and i use to have these dreams about jamming with dime and phil and it was in this shed setting over looking this beach near my house it was pretty cool use to feel so fucking real like just still blows my mind aye.... down , pantera, SJR best fucking bands period!

Exactly....Downs first album dropped YEARS AND YEARS before Dimes death.
Thats what I like about him:
He doesn't give a shit
I should have been at this show. But I was at college and poor.
Rex is by far one of the best metal bassist out there. You can actually hear him thumbing on that good ole Spector!
I agree with both of you.

There are plenty of new bands that don't make music for the masses. Especially in the northern European countries.
Fucking love this song.
down rocks, but i saw them this summer which was the third time I've seen them and Phil's voice wasn't so great; the two other times were on the 2002 tour right before he first toured Superjoint and they were some of the best shows I've ever seen (Superjoint that summer was fucking awesome too)

@DimeLivesInUs You share my thoughts exactly! I have a close friend, she's currently in that hopeless state, I'm trying to get her to listen to this and more of Down's music. It helps me and hope it helps her!

Yes indeed, but the younger kids that got into Dime after his murder don't know anything about this stuff like we do. Rock On Bro!
@1awareness I used to see it every day from my bedroom window until my brother decided to swap rooms with me. Now I get to see houses and a pawn shop.
Phil rules.
Amazing! Down Really Are The Shit!
@MrYomom66 I think that is kirk though. so yes it is. correct me if im wrong.
I heard somebody say that southern rock is no more well if they heard this they would change their opinion

Nah, if they havent taken Stone The Crow down, this aint going down either, probably something to do with labels.
hey i like down AND hannah!
@dmagyer technically they are right because they probally meant no southern rock that comes out any more is even worth listening to...if thats the case then theyre right because down has been around for a while, its not new.
what is that cross the drummer makes with his sticks? seen him do that more than once
