#3 Bouncing Pig (Instructions Below)
Hey TH-cam! We are Guys With Games ESL/EAL Activities.
We share new games every week for you to use in the ESL classroom. Our focus is teaching English in a fun way and sharing games that deliberately make English the main entree, not just a side dish.
Today’s Game:
In today’s video, Dustin (Canada) teaches us how to play a fun and engaging game for your ESL Students. Testing the students vocabulary level, Bouncing Pig is fast paced speaking game that can be played on teams or individually.
Name of the game:
Bouncing Pig
Materials:
No Prep required
Black/whiteboard
Ideal class size:
- 2-20 Students
Instructions:
Depending on the number of students in your class, divide the class into teams of 2-3 students. If you have 6 students or less, the students can play individually. The teacher can also play.
Draw a diagram on the whiteboard/ blackboard of each team's table or group of desks and where they are situated in the classroom. In the video, they are squares/rectangles. Assign each team a letter. For example; team #1 is assigned 'A', team #2 is assigned 'L' and team #3 is assigned 'R'. The teacher could start by saying Apple. It is then team #1 to say a word that starts with either 'L' or 'R'. If they say Rabbit, it is now team #3's turn to say a word that starts with 'A' or 'L'. If a team does not say a word associated with the letter of another team in 5 seconds, they get a strike or a P. Three strikes and they are out. (Three strikes = P.I.G.)

Great job, guys! You guys have a lot of great ideas. Ive used a lot of your games in my classes as well. Many, many thanks to you guys for producing some great game ideas...Appreciate it!
Guys, every single one of my 20 classes asked for this game as the starter for three weeks in a row now. You are simply the best.
My classes especially love using a randomized timer with an obnoxious alarm. Whoever's turn it is when the alarm sounds gets a letter. Everyone claps and cheers when the awesome team finally gets a letter by random chance.
Mygoalwogel haha. That’s awesome. We’re happy to hear they liked it. The timer idea sounds like a good one... I know my kids would try to intentionally wait and try to guess when the timer was about to go off, saying an answer just before.
@@GuysWithGamesESL Yeah that's why you have to randomise it and don't let them see it. For lack of a better tool, I swipe the seconds on the timer on my phone a couple times.
Thanks for sharing your teaching ideas.
Thz a bunch! Keep sharing plz!
Just amazing and awesome games! Thanks guys
I love these videos where the guys naughty sides come out. Homomilk - gonads.
Even some random swearing.
Jon P haha. I think we both find them more fun to make and edit. Let’s just hope you’re there to defend us in the comments if we do more like that and the complaints come rolling in. Haha
Thank you guys you're saving my life
