I'm new at this sport. But diving with scuba to 10meters feelis great, you see fish. But diving to 10 meters freediving feels amazing, you are fish. // that is why I like freediving.
Ill have to stick with scuba I cant hold my breath very long. Question though while doing multiple dives do you have any concern about decompression or nitrogen build up?
I used to freedive all the time. What made me stop was #1 a close encounter with a huge Great White shark, too close for my liking. #2 I ended up with severe ear infections that nearly rendered me deaf. I am a musician so I weighed the pros and cons and had to give up this hobby. It still breaks my heart, because I loved doing it so much, and it kept me fit - I had an athletic body, now I am fat.
Luke Tieppo At least I have thousands of hours of footage from all my adventures to remember them by. Stingrays, sharks, dolphins, moon jellies, stonefish, a close encounter with a box jellyfish, crabs, a sea snake. Not to mention footage of accidents I had. One Winter I ventured out deep and shouldn't have, a tidal wave hit me and smashed me into rocks. Then another time elsewhere I tore the skin off my hand by crawling along the bottom on the reef and it got stuck on something sharp and hard. Ran out of air because I panicked, my chest hit a rock hard cracking one of my ribs, I ended up floating around on the surface semi-conscious. Lots of more accidents also, and close encounters with dangerous creatures. I even picked up a cone snail with my bare hands. Which was stupid but I did it so subtle that I don't think it even knew it was being lifted up. But after I put it back down, I saw the tobuscus come out and it snatched a fish. Close call. I could fill a documentary with all the HD footage I have. Hell, I could sell the footage to a television network. Hmmm now that is an idea.
I took a class and couldn't equalize once upside down. Any tips to overcome this? I'm a scuba instructor as well and through the years one of my ear drums is more loose which may attribute to the equalization problem.
Evolution BAH!!!! Science is so much more interesting without that crock of nonsense.... Anyway love the video. I would love the opportunity to do this more often, but alas..... It's interesting to see the difference between amateurs and pros by watching their kicking styles.
Thank you so much for this. Freediving is the most beautiful sport on Earth, it is practiced by very beautiful and serene people.
Beautiful video....gives a very vivid idea why we love this breathtaking sport..

My scuba buddies may never understand my preference for freediving over scuba, but that's OK.
They shouldn't have said ( take your breathe away )
