I flew in at mach 1 in a shallow dive and just fired my R60s are like 4km - because the weren't moving and I was moving so fast, the R60s actually coasted to them and I got a posthumous kill.
ive been looking at getting the YAK-38, just for its historical aspect, i own quite a few premiums for their Niche stuff. idk waste of money but cool backstory. surprised they added a Identical tech tree variant as a premium...they could have added the Yak-36, which was the demonstrator for the Soviet VTOL program
It’s very neat and unique, and can absolutely stomp in a downtier, but will also present itself as being frustrating and difficult to play at times due to the fact that if someone gets on your tail you essentially are not shaking them off no matter what happens lol
To my understanding they removed the premium one from the store, if you can still see it but cannot purchase it does it show a lil Gaijin marketplace symbol on the vehicle icon tab?
It use to be better at grinding, it is the plane I used to grind out most of the USSR air tree in all fairness but that was before the new 10.0-10.3 dominant meta 9.3 currently faces (effective enough, but very frustrating if this is the only plane you are really going to be flying again and again, day in, day out, until you grind out what you need). In an 8.3 game it dominates, in a 9.3 game it is quite solid but in a 10.0-10.3 game you will certainly feel quite limited in what you can do
First Av-8 it's 9.7 plus it's like 6 second faster then the Yak-38 and also the SRAAM it's dog poo compared with the R-60 the harrier it's more a strike aircraft with it's targeting computers.
FYI, despite the fact that stat cards are hella inaccurate, turn time refers to a flat rudder turn, NOT a full on elevator turn.
I see, I had assumed it was turn time at top speed more or less, still a flying brick tho lol

downtiers in a yak38 are wild. you just gotta stay fast and dont dogfight and eventually you can kill someone with each missile
Yeah it’s easy to get 4-6 kill games in it in downtiers, maybe I should do a downtier-match compilation video at some point
