there are two wolves inside you when you play yak 38, one gets 6 kills in a downtier, the other one gets AIM-9L'd from 5 kilometers away in frontal aspect
Shoot an R60 at a 9L in front aspect. Works better than flares. Idk how more people don't know this

@commandoepsilon4664 That's weird. I don't think the A10 or A6 are much hotter than the Yak. Assuming you were fyling A10 or A6. That always works in the Yak. Maybe the R60 burns hotter than 9L?
@@stonegrind I was flying the Harrier GR7 (engine temp around 650 C) and my opponent was an F-16 (engine temp around 1200 C) with his burner on so I don't know how that was supposed to work.

Fun fact, from the front and even side aspect, firing a rocket can work as a flare of sorts, sure two less R-60s is a downside but it means that A-10s cand missile you.
aim9L will hit yo ass easily since yak38 is even hotter than the phantom (I've killed them with aim9E head on from 1km away launch) and the game made S5 rockets have less flame thus reducing signature a lot and you know aim9L will prioritize heat signature size over intensity
You can just run a single rocket pod and 3 R-60s. It makes the flight model a little wonky, but it's already shit so whatever.
you can also use an R-60 to fire at an enemy missile with your missile, flaring the missile (as long as it's infrared for the most part) well

3:55 The right move there was to turn into the A-10 and use one of your R60s to decoy his 9L. No way you're evading a 9L from 3km unless maybe you're already facing away from him and at top speed. You would be slower after turning hard into him so the other enemies might get you, or if he has another msl he might turn around and get you, but best to guarantee that you survive that first msl.
3:55 Go into those missile slingers instead and use your own missile as a flare. It'll lock onto his missile after its launched just fine. Works great trust me

HELP ive been stuck in a loop cus at the end of the video defyn tells me to go back and watch the first clip again! then the rest of the video plays and so on...
i grinded basically whole RU jet tree back when MiG-23 was the best. yes it was painful especially when it was limited to only 2 R-60s
but i learned to use airburst rockets on it and bagged quite a few kills with those in headons.
sadly it suffered the same fate as all top tier grinder jets, literally made obsolete in few patches when they gloriously slapped all aspect nonsense in those BRs ...

I want the Prem one but they have not sold it sense its been removed which is fked up, but would you fly the J29D and try and help me understand locking down the aim in that plane those Sweden planes with all Stealth belts no matter which you take I am finding a little hard to get down the guns because using the sight inside the Cockpit I can't hit anything and barely get a few kills here and there in 3rd and virtual cockpits.

hey guys, i was dms01 (the a10A).. and i can confirm that DEFYN actually did pay me and all the other participants in a custom match. and how i killed such skilled player is by telling the missile where it is at all times , and also telling it where it isnt.

I grinded the bis in two weeks with this thing, when it came out back then. It was okay because even R-60s and AIM-9Js were dogeable. But today? Hell nah. Not touching that BR range without flares ever again.

If you do happen to be stuck with this plane, the answer to the question 'How do I play this thing' is Air Arcade and Air Assault
You should play the Ki-100 at 4.0, it's got the same airframe as the ki-61-2 at 4.7 but much lighter and not much worse power.
