Nice to see a 4K render of this! I loved seeing this long ago, and I still adore it now. I won't lie, the locomotive is still my favorite character in this whole short. Just a deranged ol' codger that does as he likes. (By the way, I've recently been informed that you always intended for the engine to be nameless, so apologies for initially causing the 'Lester' name to be spread about. I didn't think it would catch on!)
Aw, thanks for watching! No apology needed. The name suits the character! I just put the original sequence titles back in for posterity. Basically none of the characters were given proper names outside of their roles in the story.
So this little 4-4-0’s name is officially Lester? Hm, makes sense. But the question is, is he also a Von Kapital Railway engine, or does he work for a different railway? Wait, is it Von Kapital Railway or Von Kapital Railroad? I need to go rewatch The Brave Locomotive again to remember…..
@@achesworth Ahhh, I understand! And that's certainly a relief. On another note, I do realize that this animation is a fundamentally different universe from the Brave Locomotive, but it's fun to imagine that something like this is just what went on over on the other side of Colonna Canyon in Linus' day. The strange half of Trailway that Linus would rather not touch, if you will! I kid of course. In all seriousness, you're doing great, and I wish you the best in all of your future endeavors!
@@achesworth I'll say. It's popped in and out of my recommended for that long as well. I was about 1st grade when it came out, and now I'm in my second year of college. Loved "The Brave Locomotive" btw.
@ oooooh That makes a lot if sense! This made that one hell of a conference I bet. How did it feel to have this standalone concept come to fruition for the AICP?
Wow, Linus's predecessor sure was a piece of work. Talk about an attitude problem.
You do know that they're two separate characters in one body, right?
Gives me Rayman Origins vibes in the best and most fun eay podsible.
Loved this to bits. 🤩
Ah. The nostalgia.

@@rrarr9856 The locomotive is sort of like Linus' unhinged, distant cousin.
Reminds me one of those Pilot shorts. But it gives me Raymon vibes.
Nice!
Hey Andrew I don't see the Lester's tank car in behind the hopper car? 1:37
In original storyboard, in the train was well wagon with gripper crane (who's had two faces)
Awesome!❤
The brave locomotives deadbeat father:
Funny seeing the 4k version of this now
Remarkably, it's been one of the most perennial videos on my channel over the last decade and a half!

Classic
Lester (Or Leicester?) is my favourite character from this film.
Peak
How do you make this?
What was this for again?
A short film concept I developed in college was converted to being a sponsor intro for the 2007 AICP conference in Minneapolis.
