It’s kinda refreshing to see someone else with a house that is aesthetically struggling lol As a broke young person my apartment is also a random assortment of thrifted goods that are waiting to be painted black 😂
Most of my furniture is also thrifted, or belonged to my mother in law, and I got it when she passed. Only 2 things are not painted black, and those are 2 hutches that are quite old that were hers. Both have crystal doors on them. I did install LED lights in them, but that's all I'm doing to them.

I loved every second of this. I can so relate. My house burnt down in January 2003. I LOST EVERYTHING except the clothes on my back and my dog. I almost died in the fire. My dog woke me up and saved me right before the roof collapsed. I passed out from the smoke inhalation. I'm an oil painter and lost my lifes work too. I had to live in my car for a year and finally moved into a place that was awful with a 1960s kitchen and the hideous floor to match. Pea green tub and gross bathroom. But it wasn't a 1993 Mitsubishi eclipse hatch back in winter to live in. Took me ages to recoup my losses and finally have my uber goth victorian castle I now own. But as a mom of 2 toddlers a year and a half between them, I am with you, my deary! I adore how beyond over it you are. This tour was absolutely the moment, and I think the ugly rug would look fabulous with black walls!
When my partner and I moved to Christchurch from Wellington we couriered as much as we could (clothes, blankets, towels, linen, cutlery, crockery, art, ornaments and even parts of furniture like bed legs etc), sold/donated what we no longer wanted then rented a small truck to transport everything else via ferry. Was a big job but cost less than 1k. Paying 7k to move between islands is a fvcken joke, hope you guys get your belongings somehow soon xx
As a person that also lives in an old house with second hand furniture, I feel ya 😂 but the house is amazing and full of personality, I can’t wait to see how you guys will make it your own! Oh, I hate the carpet 😂😂
I think it’s amazing how you managed to have such a brilliant vision of what you can do on such a limited budget. I can see by the time you paint them all black, it’ll look absolutely brilliant. I know living in an old home can be hard when you have babies, but this flat would be ideal for a single or just a couple considering it’s history and cost.
I do love the furniture! The situation reminds me a little bit of the scene in the Addams Family movie where the family is forced out of their home to stay in a hotel room. Just think, it’s just temporary! This too shall pass. Adorable sweet baby, by the way! Awww.
I cannot wait for you to see how you turn this apartment into what you imagine. I agree on waking up to a less than appealing home. It definitely has great potential though. Absolutely love the queen anne furniture and all the black that will be added in time 🖤
I'm still painting all of my wood furniture black, except for 2 hutches that are antiques that belonged to my mother in law. I use gloss black spray paint and primer after I fix any flaws. It looks so nice after painting. The spray paint is quicker than painting with a brush, and dries quicker as well, at least in my experience. It's easier to paint the insides of drawers as well wit the spray paint. I even have a couple pieces I did in "oil slick". I bought some automotive chameleon spray paint and used it lightly over the black. It's a nice effect. (Jan Griffiths).
You are doing amazing. Things take time. As a single mom myself- I understand the struggle. I had to start completely new when I left my sons father. Also I giggle every time you go “bleh” when you’re talking about things you don’t like, you’re just so adorable! Lol And I wanted to say thank you for sharing this. When we moved into our house, we went from a tiny box bedroom flat....we live just outside Glasgow so we had to go on a massive charity shop venture trying to get furniture because flat doesn't translate into house. None of our furniture matched but we had just moved, were skint and just bought what we could. We had furniture of every colour under the sun.....slowly over the past 4 years we have collected matching furniture. We are gamers and scale figure collectors so we wanted all the shelving units to be uniform and all on the same heights etc...we are still not finished (we still have the crimson leather second hand couch we bought when we moved in and it is falling apart) but like you, we could see what we could do with the place. Honestly, I agree with the carpet......my gran had something like that in her house when I was a kid in the 80's....the fireplace is also...questionable.....but, you are so optimistic and can see what can be done which is fabulous. Our bathroom upsets me so so much, it has been in our house since I think the 80's and it looks like it....UGH I wanna tear the whole thing out and put in a new one but, we rent so no can do

It looks great!! I can see your personality shine the space. I think you've really made a ton of progress. I can't wait to see when everything is painted black!! I love the beautiful filigree shelves you've found. Sending love! Lovely update thank you sharing!!
The second hand shops in NZ seem to have the best prices ever. I live in New Mexico and everything is so much more. I was so excited to find a dresser for $25 and it needed so much work. It looks much better now that I painted it black though. LOL
It's probably the first time I'm actually happy to see sponsor content. Girl I'm so happy for you even if you can't seem to catch a fucking break. Kia ora from London xx
I am enjoying this house tour more than I should be - it reminds me so much of so many houses here in Ireland! So old and weird 😂 the kitchen in particular! And if you're renting, the decor is usually disgusting! Glad you're finding a way to make it work while you're there, hope you get into a place you're happier in soon!
I really love the red upholstery on the dinner chairs, it would be a shame if you changed that but paint the rest of chair black is fine... red and black is the best combo
I actually love you 😂 your so fragrantly eccentric and so subtly tongue and cheek, I legitly laughed at the door bell, never heard a doorbell need throat lozenges so badly before P.s that carpet will haunt all future incarnations of mine forever :)
It's funny you say your place is small. It's bigger than the unit I raised my 3 kids in for the past 10 years. We had all 3 in one room for 7 years, 1 study with all the comps, and the open living space of colliding kitchens, dining, living room. Master bedroom, 1 bathroom, tiny laundry, and balcony. I'm jealous of your space AND BACKYARD! I'm so sad we never had a garden for the kids so we relied on other family houses and the parks. Wishing you all the luck in getting your belongings back and finding somewhere more to your liking 💕
I actually really love the carpet. I think it can definitely be incorporated into a Victorian gothic home. I would put in my house 😂. You have found some amazing finds to fix up.
I love this video because people don't show the in-between decor and stuff. I hope I'm making sense. It's so similar you how I see stuff. It's like seeing potential and the future of my space while still appreciating what I have now.
The axminster carpet gives off old mansion vibes, I remember my grandparents had the red 'turkey axminster' carpet, very expensive and high quality but its very busy looking lol
I feel you sooo much. I live in a place where I can't do much around, with such small space, it's atrocious 😢 so I try to make it better with tiny accents and decor. We both must remember - it's only temporary, we will have our own dark castles one day 🖤🖤🖤
Thank you for being so real with us. I have been in this exact situation a couple times in my life and I know how much a toll it takes mentally. Especially when you've had a place that was decorated to your liking in the past and all you can do is reminisce. I know things are going to get better for your family and it won't be long until you've manifested your dream home again. Sending you lots of love and light 🖤
6:48: The "retro" electric sockets are really old Type I sockets. I've seen such old light switches in pre-WW1 buildings in Austria, but not such age-old sockets (which may lack a properly attached PE pin and therefore make you run the risk of getting electrocuted).
You did so well given all that has happened. I would paint the fireplace surround a dark gray or something. That would be an improvement and many home owners are good with it!
When you segmented into the Hello Fresh "Commercial" of sorts I didn't skip like I normally do because I knew you would turn it into a humorous thing and I wasn't disappointed so congratulations for being the only one I didn't skip past the self commercial lol!
In the case of the carpet toy can play with light grey colors . I recommend you have that color because you have little kids then it's easy to see if there's something on the carpet . When they grow then toy can change it to black . 😊😊
Oh, dear girl!!!! My heart goes out to you, and your little family. You have so much on your plate, and yet you seem to handle it all so well with grace and humor. Take care, Freya! 💜💜💜

“It’s almost like a confident person made it” “every morning I wake up and it offends my senses” I’m cracking up 😆 also your makeup looks extra beautiful here! ✨🖤
I do love the carpet. It reminds me of the vinyl gloves at my grandparents house that I grew up in. Those floors are long gone and as of recently the house as well. If I ever get my things out of storage that have been there for almost a decade, I have a piece of that floor somewhere that I cut out when we took it up and hope to one day frame.
I'm glad you're doing better and things are looking up for you after everything you've been through Who ever deigned this house must of been drunk or on drugs and what is with the random cupboard door near the ceiling that leads to a window 🖤
You should paint the walls because just doing that transforms the house. I moved into an apartment that was built in the 70's that the walls were patchy af were some walls were painted a pale yellow and some walls were paint white, I hated it. I fixed the cracks and painted the walls a taupe grey colour and it make the apartment feel warm, cosy and so much better.
I love the horse skeleton rocking 🐴🐎 horse ! So cute! You have a great eye for previously owned objects! New subscriber! Either way great job so far cant wait to see what ya do with the place. Hope you get less stress soon. Much love

I feel ya! trying to move is a headache alone but with a toddler and being pregnant it takes it to a whole other level! my husband and myself have been trying to move for 2 years we have a 12 ur old and the area we live in is not the greatest but the housing market is a complete nightmare! hopefully soon though! Wishing the best for you and your family! ❤and anyone else who’s struggling for a better life!
LOL
Thanks!
You’re so kind!💙💙💙
Oh thank you so kindly!! 🥰
It's probably the first time I'm actually happy to see sponsor content. Girl I'm so happy for you even if you can't seem to catch a fucking break. Kia ora from London xx
A Blur of Milk and Screaming is a great title for a YA novel 😆
Girl this house is nice and a blessing!
You can make it like you want 😊
That’s a nice house
Yes-- it's nice compared to places I have lived. I really don't get why she is so negative about it. It makes her sound a bit spoiled, to be honest.
Oooh you have found some lovely gems, I think you will make an amazing cosy home with what you got. 😍🖤
Please show us the crafty stuff!
Goth was born in 70s shag pile, g plan, pokey dark and grim - you have gone back to the roots baby :)
I actually love you 😂 your so fragrantly eccentric and so subtly tongue and cheek, I legitly laughed at the door bell, never heard a doorbell need throat lozenges so badly before
P.s that carpet will haunt all future incarnations of mine forever :)
The red velvet on the chairs is a dream 😍 there so beautiful!
I actually really love the carpet. I think it can definitely be incorporated into a Victorian gothic home. I would put in my house 😂. You have found some amazing finds to fix up.
What I was thinking! I actually like the carpet.
I actually love that carpet! Retro and it has a trellis/cross-like pattern, and the pattern isn't big enough to be intrusive
Tbh I don't hate the carpet. It gives me late 70s early goth vibes because that's what was available back then.
14:35 Those look like wall-hanging candle holders, even little led candles would look good there.
I feel you sooo much. I live in a place where I can't do much around, with such small space, it's atrocious 😢 so I try to make it better with tiny accents and decor. We both must remember - it's only temporary, we will have our own dark castles one day 🖤🖤🖤
wow you could make a whole series of you d.i.y.ing all your furniture and showing people how to do it and what products you use
Your little girl is so precious. Such a little cutie, she knows she's got the best goth mom ever.
I agree about the place, small, hideous carpets, and random odd storage up by the ceiling, but I ADORE the riding horse!!
milk & screaming sounds the perfect goth mom song
That would be an improvement and many home owners are good with it!
i think you did a pretty good job. the little details add so much character
The carpet is nuts with the color
I always find myself hypnotized by your voice and stories. Lol 🙂
Go with it for a short time...I believe your dream home is onn its way and I can hardly wait to see how you decorate it ❤
I know i ain't thee only one stoked about when ya post!!
Miss u, hope babies and Mr.Owl are phenomenal. 💙
Oh, dear girl!!!! My heart goes out to you, and your little family. You have so much on your plate, and yet you seem to handle it all so well with grace and humor. Take care, Freya! 💜💜💜
I think the place is charming and the special touches you are adding will make it beautiful.
I think you talking about seeing potential in everything is really cool!
You could make a big, freestanding, flat-ish black box cover for the fireplace and then set cute things on it
honestly i adore your humour so much 🫶 all the best and fingers crossed that everything sorts out soon!
WAIT, THE SECOND BABY IS ALREADY BIRTHED??? excuse my english but WOOOAH mind blown!! Time is moving super duper fast!!
omgg I wish the best for your family, gorgeous lady
“It’s almost like a confident person made it” “every morning I wake up and it offends my senses” I’m cracking up 😆 also your makeup looks extra beautiful here! ✨🖤
I do love the carpet. It reminds me of the vinyl gloves at my grandparents house that I grew up in. Those floors are long gone and as of recently the house as well. If I ever get my things out of storage that have been there for almost a decade, I have a piece of that floor somewhere that I cut out when we took it up and hope to one day frame.
i missed you sm, i just rediscovered your videos and it’s been a huge wave of nostalgia and happiness ❤
I'm glad you're doing better and things are looking up for you after everything you've been through
Who ever deigned this house must of been drunk or on drugs and what is with the random cupboard door near the ceiling that leads to a window 🖤
This video is such a vibe. Never enjoyed a tour so much 😂
I love the horse skeleton rocking 🐴🐎 horse ! So cute! You have a great eye for previously owned objects! New subscriber! Been junking out on your videos - tip: when using marshmallow on cake use butter on your fingers to keep it from sticking - decorated cakes for 23 years- knowing is half the battle!
Welcome, and thanks for the tip!
As someone who got forced to move to an old farmhouse its definitely old and weird i understand the struggle. Only difference as a goth person is i dont have my daughter goth shes normal i want her to decide if she wants to follow in my foot steps or not. Either way great job so far cant wait to see what ya do with the place. Hope you get less stress soon. Much love
