Hi Guys, Good informative video. Just adding my 2 cents regarding leasing - You do own the car at the end of lease period provided you buy it paying the residual value in Canada. You don't necessarily need to have a business to take it on lease to reduce taxable profit. Newcomers who don't wana invest much at start can take on lease and later buy the same car once they are settled. Residual value amount you can invest during your lease period instead of paying as downpayment for finance and then use it to buy the leased car. EMIs for Finance is higher than lease as the dealer spreads the entire car value during the term instead of 60-70 % in case of lease. This helps you in monthly household savings as well. Just my opinion. Thanks
@@Potatotalkies One can keep leased car.No need to change :) Even I've taken on lease and intend to buy it at the end of lease term. Congratulations to you both for your new car and Welcome to Canada :)

Yes This The ultimate guide to buying a car in Canada indeed !!! i am always searching car buying guide in youtube but never found like this pro lever guide. Thank you so much to help me take a decision to buy a car. Please make same type details informative video on different types of topic about canada life. You couple are awesome. i am fan of yours. God bless you.
First of all congratulations on your first car in Canada (many more to come hopefully:)). I would like to add some points here: 1. One of the other reason to lease the car is if you are car lover and would like to change the car every 3 to 5 years. There is no hassle to worry about to sell your car, simply you go and submit your car keys to the dealer. Mindset in Canada is different when it comes to car i.e car is never considered as asset like back home its an asset you would love to keep it for long. In here car is necessity which people use and then upgrade. 2. For insurance I would have gone to insurance broker and shop around with them as well. Every year at the time of renewal I shop around with 12 insurance provider and brokers and then I select the best one. After all we have to save some bucks. 3. In lease as you mention you are given certain KMs to drive during the year BUT dealership don't monitor that every year.. they take total KMs at the time of lease end. If you can average out your KMs during your lease time that would be great. 4. Lease vs finance insurance premiums are different (how much its different that I don't know but there is a difference) 5. You can always get certified per-owned car and save some dollars of duties you paid. Please see your contract the yellow paper you got from your dealer how much PDI you paid. That money is gone and that is the depreciation cost. 6. For winter tiers get it from Costco as it has best service and you get cash back shopping card. The maintenance and change over hassle and appointment is easy. 7. How to reduce your car insurance premium? Get G test done ASAP and you will get 10% to 15% discount (depending on your insurance provider). Get winter tires. Add your condo content insurance with your auto insurance to avail multi insurance discount. Since, its Covid you can declare the car use as pleasure use rather than commute use that will reduce your premium for now, when you resume your office physically you can change it back to commute use. Since, its pandemic time you can declare that you will NOT be using your car for more than 5000 Km (this is just example) a year But you can always change it as you start using more. 8. Question: if you have purchased this car in Cash how much that would be? Would it be same amount as you are financing? or less than that? As you mentioned in your video that car MRP value is 26k and you got 2k discount then new value is 24k on finance but same 26k car is purchased on cash how much you have to pay? if its less then 24K (which I am sure would be the case) the difference is the cost you could have got BUT that cost is not significant as cash at bank is more important than cash invested in car in one shot. 9. Why haven't you opted for SUV ? 10. You can split your financing payments in weekly/semi-monthly/bi-weekly/monthly instalments depending on your cash flow situation for the month. Though you end up paying the same. Sorry my points and questions are all over the place not in order. I hope my feedback is taken positively. Thanks, A
Excellent points... I will answer a few.. 8. We got almost the same discount on the list price as we would get if we paid cash - its just a special covid type of deal... not usual 9. I didn't want to pay too much emi. The one I liked was 40K vs 26K I bought. Maybe in a few years :)
Congrats on your new car. Which trim did you take? Please do a short video on purchase of winter tyres. Which are the tyres you mentioned? We are new car buyers, looking to buy them soon.
The most anticipated videos 1) flying to Canada 2)Found dream job 3)buying a car 4) Buying the dream house 5)Blessed with baby Potato :P You guys rock.
Not always leased amount is greater than financed amount. I bought Honda CRV recently and I did Maths that if I buy car at 7 years financing and 5 years lease + 2 years to buy out the car the amount would be same
if you invest 143$ on SIP for 5 years @8% CAGR then you will get 10577$ and you are saving 3000$ extra which add up and get 13577$, I don't think this is also a bad investment while leasing car.
Guys you provide the best and the most useful videos.... If at all we make it to canada.. We are gonna treat you guys to a fabulous lunch or dinner...... Hats off to you for the amazing effort put into your research.
One important point on car purchases. If you have plans of buying a home in the near future then it is better to avoid car loans so that you have that extra cash flow every month which also helps in additional savings towards your down payment for the home because bigger the car loan lesser the money the bank will lend you for buying a house. That again is one less loan to repay when you already have a mortgage. If a used car is below 15k it is better to just pay it off in cash or at least put down enough downpayment so it covers the depreciation so you're not upside down on your loan if you need to ever sell it before the end of your loan term
hi, i really enjoyed your videos keep up the good work. At 10:38 sec of the video for Financing 419.53 X 60 = 25,171 which is correct but for lease 286.53 X 60 = 17,191 and not 22K is there any missing cost and how much is the monthly payment after that cost.

You all are doing a great job! Very thorough research presented in very effective manner. We are also new immigrants to Canada and videos have been very helpful. Your 10% formula was really cool.may be you should making a video on percentage allotment for diff expenses based on income plus what percentage you should save of your income
Look for Michelin winter tires. Canadian tire currently has discount on the older models , Michelin launched X ice snow as new model hence the previous ones like x ice2/3 are dirt cheap

Hello Simran and Navjot, it's always great to watch ur videos. I have a question, is this an intrest free amount of your car which u mentioned in your comparison chart?
Great video but there are some facts that were missed about the leasing vs purchasing / financing. With leasing you save the taxes on the total value of the car. Second, after the lease end you don't have to give the car back if you don't want to....you agree to a residual value of the car at the end of the lease which you can pay to buy the car out if you like. Third, there is a really great website (not sure if you guys have heard about it) its called lease buster (they have one for finance buster as well) which allows you to see if someone is trying to transfer their lease. By doing so, you get in a shorter car lease and some of these leases end up coming attached with a cash incentives for you to take the car over. Financing is a great option but if you are looking to purchase a house then that car "loan" will be counted and may cause issues for some people. The trick is (if possible) to purchase the house first and then you can get the car you want otherwise some people can't get approved for mortgages because of this.
I just want to clarify that car insurance doesn’t depends on if you’re new in Canada or not. It only depends on your driving history (irrespective of which country you belong to), your pin code, car make and what DL (G2 or G) you have!
It also depend on your age, the younger you are the higher you pay on your car insurance and vice versa, because younger people are view to be exuberant and are prone to accidents than older people.
You said your financial advisor advised hyundai has the cheapest insurance. Can you throw more light on this piece of information. We would like to understand on how to zero down on a car which gives low insurance in GTA.

Great video. Maybe you can consider all weather tyres, which saves you from the hassle of switching tyres before the winter. The all weather tyres are as effective as the winter tyres.
@@Potatotalkies They do, depends on the brand. I know few people who have all weather tires and are happy with it. Might be best to consult with an expert on all weather vs winter tires. But there is a mandate in BC where winter tires are mandatory.
Congrats on the car.. ;) did you guys buy health insurance to cover the gap from when you landed upto the time you got covered by the provincial plan? do we really need it?
How about buying a motorcycle for small tours? I heard that the weather there allows the driving motorcycle just half of the year, because of the cold 6 months. Is it?
Bur highly recommend to buy a used beater car till you buy your house. By financing a car, you are just increasing your debt to income ratio which will definitely affect your borrowing capacity when buying your house. Always, buy your car in CASH!
Dang it. 269 insurance for an Elantra ? That is super expensive. I pay 80 for a civic here in us. One tip: you can negotiate a better rate while you are working from home since you are driving less. I got a 15 percent discount applicable during covid.
@Ishika Singh no it depends on many many factors. I pay 120 a month for comprehensive coverage on my lexus plus my house. That is very reasonable. The longer you are insured the lower your rates. Also, check with a broker. They will find the lowest rates for you.
Would like to know within how many days new immigrants get PR card?? actually in my case primary applicant has to come back in India for some personal seasons ....
Educational credential assessment (ECA) for Express Entry is valid for how many months /year? And I have to do for 10th and 12th standard too or just bachelor and master's have to do??
Please help me to find out the list of designated employers in all 4 provinces for Atlantic immigration pilot program?? Really appreciate if u share the links.
Above 20k Kms you can top up the monthly installment for every 5000 km - that cost just $2-$3. But again one should know if they actually would be driving 20K km per year. Also, there's a carryover mileage with Dealers; for example: if you drive say 10K this year you can use remaining for next year. This does apply with Toyota, not sure if this was told by Hyundai too.
@@Potatotalkies Also there's lease and lease to buy option...for the lease to buy...one pays the depreciated value and can still own that car, else u are always behind a new wheel...but again yea me too have financed to lease is a tricky option to choose. I love all your videos so much...I live in Etobicoke as well...lets meet sometime...#Delhiiite ;P

Financing is a great option but if you are looking to purchase a house then that car "loan" will be counted and may cause issues for some people. The trick is (if possible) to purchase the house first and then you can get the car you want otherwise some people can't get approved for mortgages because of this.
Thank you so much for the information and support
I just want to clarify that car insurance doesn’t depends on if you’re new in Canada or not. It only depends on your driving history (irrespective of which country you belong to), your pin code, car make and what DL (G2 or G) you have!
It actually differs from one province to the next. It's important to look at your specific Provinces requirements
We did our own research... the insurance agent just advised us on cheaper insurance. Just call the cooperators for that. Link in the description.
Nice couple and channel.
Little correction- u can’t get any parking in downtown for a day in $10
Day parking is $30 or $3/hr.
I know that impark at Eaton center takes $326 per month.. but all in all, doesn't make sense to take your car to Downtown :)
Potato Talkies - Canada agree bhaji,
My cousin shifted to other province just bcz he has to travel daily from brampton to toronto.

Great video. Maybe you can consider all weather tyres, which saves you from the hassle of switching tyres before the winter. The all weather tyres are as effective as the winter tyres.
You sure? I already have all weather... but i hear they don't hold in heavy snow
@@Potatotalkies They do, depends on the brand. I know few people who have all weather tires and are happy with it. Might be best to consult with an expert on all weather vs winter tires. But there is a mandate in BC where winter tires are mandatory.
Congrats on the car.. ;)
did you guys buy health insurance to cover the gap from when you landed upto the time you got covered by the provincial plan?
do we really need it?
The DL extract from India, does this document have an expiry ?
How about buying a motorcycle for small tours? I heard that the weather there allows the driving motorcycle just half of the year, because of the cold 6 months. Is it?
Yes... 6 months max
Your videos so lively and crisp...Thanks from Hyderabad...

@@Potatotalkies Thanks
Intelligent Couples. Thanks for all the information. Excellent.
👏👏
Bur highly recommend to buy a used beater car till you buy your house. By financing a car, you are just increasing your debt to income ratio which will definitely affect your borrowing capacity when buying your house. Always, buy your car in CASH!
If u need the perfect point on anything this channel is best 👌
As always the right information on a tasteful humorous platter 🤓😇💕
😃😃
They will find the lowest rates for you.
honestly i love your detailed information sharing. Too good research! tussi chhaa gaye Paaji!
😍👏
Honda Civic or Corolla covers that cost in the long run !!! There will be more expenses over the time, especially winters as compared to India ;)
Love your video, can you suggest which auto insurance is best
The link is in the description.. we got it from there
I also heard that japanese cars are cheaper and have less maintenance & less insurance...
Hyundai is Korean... but maybe thats true
Make sense pre reserch about purchase a car very nicely said.
Would like to know within how many days new immigrants get PR card?? actually in my case primary applicant has to come back in India for some personal seasons ....
Usually it was 14 days... but right now, its taking over 2 months because of the backlog
Yeah... overall, the math wasn't working out esp if I want to drive this car for over 5 years...
Hi. You guys are so good and natural. So much info and so beautifully communicated. This is just what the doctor prescribed for an immigrant to Cananda : -)
