You really need to gauge the emotional depth and ability to work with easy and difficult situations that everyone has to deal with. If you have a very pretty partner, but they don’t have a clue on how to handle situations with grace and some intelligence, the beauty quickly evaporates.

Chrissy, don't worry at all about the "Stepmother" concept when you go to visit Rob's children. Honestly, they won't see you as their stepmother, period. Just as another thoughtful caring adult who is married to their dad. They will find it hard not to fall in love with you, but give them some space if they try to sabotage their own feelings. You don't have to live in little boxes created by US or Filipino society. Hopefully, you guys are connecting with WhatsApp with them every so often to plant the seeds of a meaningful relationship. My adult kids adore Mylene who is 15-21 years older than they are, but honestly, they don't see her as a stepmom either. They didn't start out loving her, but it grew naturally over time. They trust her and enjoy being around her. I couldn't ask for more, and I hope you can get to the place you want with Rob's family.

My last date: I'm dating a very shy Cambodian woman in Seattle. I have a Tesla so for me to drive 300 miles each way only costs me $66 and about 10.5 hours of travel. I usually spend $200 total by the time I'm back home. The last date was the 5th date and she still won't let me cross the threshold of her house! I thought that by now she would offer me her couch to sleep on so that I could spend more time with her and also not have such a brutal day. As it stands I leave the house at 6:30am, get to spend about 5hrs with her, and then get home around 10:00pm at night. We've had some great dates and she always makes room in her schedule to see me. She's super shy and I'm really lucky to get three little pecks for kisses at the end of each date. I think it's cute, but she's not giving in ways that are important so I have to shut it down now. Her costs this entire time = $10 for tipping a tour guide when I didn't have cash that day. Many times parking was $30 alone. I'm a really good closer, so I'm not used to things going this way.
