Think about it. They don't make furniture, or Anything, like they used to. What a great way to have great solid, updated furniture at a fraction of the price for New Junk! Bravo. You've inspired me to start this again

Bingo! So many people now think of furniture as disposable because it is cheaply made and only lasts for a couple of years. They then toss that cheap furniture into the landfill and replace it with more cheap furniture. The cycle goes on. Why not buy the good, well made quality stuff used and update it with paint or refinish it and add some new hardware? That total cost will be less than the cheaply made disposable furniture they buy today.

How do you factor in your labor and storage costs into the profit? $3,000 profit is nice but maybe not if it took you more than 160 hours (4x40 hour work weeks which is about $18.75 an hour). How many hours did you spend to do the refinishing and selling portions and were other staff needing to be paid out of this profit?

true, while I flip furniture full time, i also have several other areas of income...I am not really telling people to go get a shop and have all the extra expenses - more so encouraging a side hobby or a business where you solely focus on flipping. I do think if i didn't create content and earn $ in other ways, that furniture flipping would still be a great side hustle or even full time business cause that would be the main focus thus i would be able to do more projects and make more $ (: hope that makes sense! appreciate you watching!

Hi! What if I outsourced and hired someone to make a dresser base and perhaps fix a couple drawer slides? How much do you think that would cost? Also- I think just putting some fancy hardware pulls on that first dresser could have really modernized it, could have flipped it for more that way, maybe. Maybe not as big of a profit but…. a smaller less arduous process would be just to clean the piece and add unique drawer pulls, maybe something handmade from Etsy.

Thank you so much for your content! I was really hoping to make some extra money flipping furniture but in the Tampa Bay area where I live it turned out not that profitable. You are lucky if you make $500 off a beautifully refinished solid wood dresser that you’ve put in quite a bit of work and materials. I originally used it my my pantry but now it has pride of place in my sitting room as a bookcase. Love the dark wood would not change a thing. You have total pro skills w prep and assembly. Plus detail. But you lack product knowledge that can speed up the process by a huge margin. For instance bulldog adhesion promoter will allow you to spray color with super adhesion without sanding. Your sprayer has a tiny pattern and can’t cover wide areas for proper flow. A simple $20 hvlp air sprayer and suitable air compressor would give you faster coverage and wider spray pattern for speed and coverage control. Auto paint products are far more durable and easier to use than hardware box store products. Cars sit outside all years for decades. Imagine how well the same paint stands up indoors. Bullydog is designed for use w auto body products. Every clear coat sheen is available. Flat, Matt, semi and gloss. High gloss can be wet sanded and biffed to a mirror sheen. All colors are available. Simply clean and scuff w a pad. Spray bulldog and then color then clear. W a n air hvlp gun. Try it. You’ll never go back to epoxy/lacquer/ Home Depot bs paint. Speed, no sanding and wide fast coverage will net you more money. Not to mention the paint dries so hard it withstands winter weather outdoors for many years. Key is it’s all very toxic. Proper respirators and ventilation is a must.

The first dresser was beautiful before! It just needed a good clean, not paint! Paint is for badly damaged junk and cheap pine. Upcyclers tend to remove good finishes from good solid wood furniture in the name of "updating". Classic traditional solid wood furniture never goes out of style. If it's in good condition, it should be preserved, not painted. Believe me, I lived through the 1960's and 70's when painting used furniture was first popular. After that fad passed, people started stripping paint in hopes of finding good solid wood that could be restored. Unfortunately, you can't see what's under paint. Those who fail to study history are destined to repeat it
