Haven't watched you in a while ......... So much GROWTH and PROFESSIONALISM !!!!! SENDING you a huge congratulations on your hard earned success! You are so inspiring! Makes me happy to watch your success. God bless you and continued success. 😊 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is my dresser right down to the batwing pulls! It belonged to my mom. When she passed I got her bedroom furniture. It's a beautiful, updated restoration.
Ours is the exact same one too! It was my husband’s before we got married, it and the two night stands reside in the guest room. I only just started watching furniture flipping videos, but didn’t think I’d fine one for this, was ready to dump the furniture. I’m excited to see what Lauren does!
As you stated that “ Batwing” drawer handles have been around since the decade of the SEVENTIES, you are correct. However, Colonial furniture makers from the era of William and Mary, Queen Anne , and Chippandale furniture all have used Batwing pulls. It’s not a “ decade” thing; it’s a “ centuries” thing covering the 17 th century to present, specifically starting in 1620.
One of the best tutorials on building a base! The dresser turned out beautiful. I am going to give this a shot on a free piece I got from marketplace. Wish me luck!
Thank you for showing what ‘bleed through’ looks like! There’s often a lot of steps taken to PREVENT things from happening, but not much to show what you’re trying to prevent. I hope that makes sense. Can you make a video or ‘series’ of what exactly to prevent? There’s a lot of jargon like ‘wet edge’ or ‘texture’, ‘cured’ , things like that. It might take sacrificing pieces or some wood to explain things, but it’d be super helpful 💛💛💛
Hi Lauren, could you a talk a bit about the paint sprayer and what you do in between each coat of paint. Do you have to clean it out in between coats or what do you do to keep it from drying in the sprayer?!? Thanks so much for the tutorials, I love them!
This would make a great dresser for a baby’s room. From there it will grow with the baby till they leave home. Simply classic. Hardware and buttons can make or break a piece.
Everything about this episode is sooo professional. Picked up on the level of confidence in presenting the process of step by step procedure as well as the editing has risen to high level energy. This dresser is in the category of upcycled furniture where it does not even resemble the former. Looove how you transformed this dresser.
I have a whole bedroom set like this purchased in 1977. I have asked my husband several times to get a new on. now I will get a new on as soon as I learn to redo furniture. I plan to redo mine.
The set screw on the collar backs off because you’re using an impact driver to drill. The impact that makes it good at screwing faster is vibrating the drill bit.
It turned out so pretty ! I like the new hardware too 👍 This piece could even be used as baby changing table - so many drawers for all the necessary things a busy parent would need to have handy !!
I always love your honesty, you are not afraid to make ‘mistakes’ (or admit that you could have done it differently) and learn from it. That’s what made you grown so much, and make me learn from you too. Great job again!!!! ❤❤
I find it oddly satisfying when you demonstrate pocket holes! 😊 Thanks to you, I now know what they're actually called! Your new equipment and step-by-step guides make it all the more enjoyable to watch. By the way, at 33:03, I just built IKEA furniture and did this on at least 2 separate steps🤦♂
It turned out lovely! I like that you showed the mistake with the base. It is refreshing to see that you can laugh. If we laugh it prevents us from crying. B~}
I had this set of dresser Chest of drawer, night stand and bed. I have gotten rid of the dresser and bed. I purchased mine from Sears in the 1972. I have been wanting to redo the chest of drawer and night stand. This gives me an idea of what to do.
Beautiful! Great job you are such a diligent hard worker! Enjoyed from Texas! I had that set early ‘90’s Bassett or Broyhill should have had the brand name inside the drawer! I love the white, the new legs & new hardware!
I'd countersink those holes before filling them. It hides them better Also try to hold the paint gun 90° to the panel. It will keep the paint lay flatter and keep the fill cup away from the piece so it doesn't hit it. Nice job here. Looks great. New sub.
I like to use a magic eraser to clean as I find it does the best at scrubbing, esp the really dirty pieces/places. I then wash with Murphy oil soap diluted.
Hi I’m new you your channel. Live your work and attention to detail. From one DIY girl to another. Do you have a video that details all of your tools that you use, sander, paint sprayers, etc?
You forgot to factor in your time. How long did it take you to flip this, plus electricity, wear and tear off tools and your skill. Never underestimate your worth, people who buy these either don't have the equipment and so or time..... and remember not everything needs to be updated, some just need restoring :) good job
Nice, sturdy construction, but it looks like you did round that 9/16 down to 1/2 so the sides of the body sit just a bit proud of the new base. I think it might have looked a bit better if the base sat proud of the body just a bit.
I'm new to your channel and enjoy it immensely. Getting ready to redo living room and dining room which are currently dark cherry. I really like the bleached raw wood look. Is that look going out of style? Going through your videos, i don't see many times where you have bleached wood. Open to comments from others.
I have no idea if it's going out of style, but I think if that's what you like, that's what you should use. Even if it's out of style now, it'll be back in style eventually, and in the meantime you'll have surrounded yourself with furniture that you love.
I have been watching you since you had your were just out of school. Now that you are the expert, may I ask if you have a favorite vendor to purchase hardware? BIG fan in Texas..
Make sure you save all those handles. I have a bedroom set, in Cherry, built by Thomasville. I love those handles and someday they will return. I can assure you that unit is Thomasville. Real quality and beautiful as is.
Question: I bought a mahogany 1890’s full size bed that came out of a hotel in Virginia City, Nv. I’m using it in one of my barn guest shacks for my company. Want to paint it but feeling really guilty changing something with such long history. But I know no one will want to sleep on that dark wood. Lol. What are your thoughts?
I say painted if you want to, but if the old finish is needing to be refreshed in any case then maybe you could send it down and just put a really natural wax finish on it so it looks fresh and clean, but also shows the character of the old piece. That being said, paint is protective for old wood. Our ancestors liked paint and used paint. I would not feel guilty about using paint in spite of some of the people that come on these shows and criticize it. It is no longer 1880 and we don’t have to play by 1880 rules or decor styles. Maybe they would have preferred paint if they would’ve had the option for that piece of furniture. You don’t know nobody does..
@@twinnish you are awesome. Your words are what my daughter told me. Now I can hears her words “When are you going to trust your daughter?” Lol I’m painting. 👍
I have this exact looking piece in my bedroom along with 4 other smaller pieces that I would LOVE to redo all of them in this way. However, I have zero experience in refinishing furniture. Is there a way of not having to do much prep work and just being able to paint over it? I'm certain it has this exact finish and veneer top. How much do you think it would cost to have someone else refinish it for me??
I like everything you did with that dresser, except the knobs are really not my style. I would have put black or silver knobs on it. That's just my preference.
I love the white and the base really brought this piece up to date. Nice job! So what is this mystery paint you used, lol? ;) I could see the label a little...thinking it might be Behr?
This is not about this episode. I just saw a chest of drawers turned into shoe storage. The drawer fronts tipped open and held two level of shoes! Thought you might want to know
I feel that you could have gone monotone with the flowers to have some texture. I’ve seen this done and it looks nice. Maybe just put the flowers on one side and used flowers of varying sizes instead of the small ones only. Just my opinion.
The depth adjustment keeps falling off because the flat area is not there. I don't recall the name of the ones I have, but there are several on Amazon with a better flat area. I will keep looking, but right now it's bedtime. Trust me there are some with better flat stops than the ones that comes with the kit.
Haven't watched you in a while ......... So much GROWTH and PROFESSIONALISM !!!!! SENDING you a huge congratulations on your hard earned success! You are so inspiring! Makes me happy to watch your success. God bless you and continued success.

Haha, this is mine also, we bought ours when we got married in 1979. I have been wanting to update it so I’m excited to see what she does.
@@jeannehelmick5682Also got ours when we were married in 1979! Still like it.
@jeannehelmick5682 I think my parents got their set in the early 80's lol. I would love to update mine, too.

She’s so professional on what she does. She has complete tools and the mathematics, gosh.
One of the best tutorials on building a base! The dresser turned out beautiful. I am going to give this a shot on a free piece I got from marketplace. Wish me luck!

I really appreciate the explanation on the cherry wood and how to manage that, too.
Hi Lauren, could you a talk a bit about the paint sprayer and what you do in between each coat of paint. Do you have to clean it out in between coats or what do you do to keep it from drying in the sprayer?!? Thanks so much for the tutorials, I love them!
I use plastic pastry bags (cake decorating bags) to fill holes with bondo/wood filler. It makes this part much faster
This would make a great dresser for a baby’s room. From there it will grow with the baby till they leave home. Simply classic. Hardware and buttons can make or break a piece.

wow! thank you so much for the kind words! glad you enjoyed it all!
Using the impact drill, you can also get the opposite effect where the collar screws grind into the bit and is almost impossible to remove.
The white looks great on that dresser. The knobs are perfect! It should sell soon.
It turned out so pretty ! I like the new hardware too 👍
This piece could even be used as baby changing table - so many drawers for all the necessary things a busy parent would need to have handy !!
I am not into white furniture but I really love this! It's beautiful and the color is lovely!
I love white furniture! So clean looking! You can put any color accessories with white. Beautiful!
Love the base you added and the slight contrast it gives to the white. Great job and very impressed by that primer!
I always love your honesty, you are not afraid to make ‘mistakes’ (or admit that you could have done it differently) and learn from it. That’s what made you grown so much, and make me learn from you too. Great job again!!!! ❤❤
Love the white with the gold hardware!
I got mine like that, from JC Penney, in the early 1990s.
I find it oddly satisfying when you demonstrate pocket holes! 😊 Thanks to you, I now know what they're actually called! Your new equipment and step-by-step guides make it all the more enjoyable to watch.

Great Tips Lauren on products used and why used…I always appreciate your explanations

I have a very similar dresser and am being given a matching smaller one so now I know what I can do with them! Can't wait!!
I love the white. Pretty and fresh.
Very pretty. Turned out beautiful.
Great job as usual. Love all of the teaching moments. Thank you.
You always do such beautiful work !❤
Magnificent as always. You are the sweetest young woman. Love from South Africa 🌍
I love the white. It looks great
I think it turned out gorgeous!!! Great job!!❤
Love the white my go to color. Great job
I had one of these dressers in the 90’s! I love what you did with it. 😊
Beautiful! Such an improvement!
This is one of my faves. The colors are great!
This is classic!
Thanks I think it looks great. I'm wondering why you don't tell us what kind of paint your using and did you spray on a top coat?.
Love it! It turned out so pretty white. Great job Lauren
I bought that same dresser in 1987 new at a furniture store. Batwing pulls are timeless it seems. You’ll find them in every decade.
Love the camera guy wave in the reflection of the cabinet while you’re building the base 😂
Beautiful! Great job you are such a diligent hard worker! Enjoyed from Texas! I had that set early ‘90’s Bassett or Broyhill should have had the brand name inside the drawer! I love the white, the new legs & new hardware!
and Mrs T really liked this dresser well done
Looks great, but I would definitely want the side of drawers painted fully!
WOW.....THOSE R BEAUTIFUL! ❤
Looks great, loved the white 🎉🎉🎉❤
Loved how the piece turned out way better looking than that outdated cherry and bat wings 😂..oh that base u built girl u blow me away❤
Great job - would look great in a nursery! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Love that dresser
what sandpaper grit did you use between primer coats? Can you add that on the screen when you change or use sandpapers please? Thank you!
I love it! Great job.
I'd countersink those holes before filling them. It hides them better
Also try to hold the paint gun 90° to the panel. It will keep the paint lay flatter and keep the fill cup away from the piece so it doesn't hit it.
Nice job here. Looks great. New sub.
Beautiful!!! great job.
Try locktite on the set screw threads
It looks so good!
Looks very nice!!
Looks great!
Can we get an update on how the store is doing? Another awesome flip!
Looks really good!!
Awesome job ❤

Love the redu, except the knobs.
Hey Lauren! Is that nightstand in the back, the one on top of the dresser, for sale? I love it so much😍
Hi Lauren- With this type of paint is a top coat not necessary?
Love it!

Have you ever used the vinal sealer before forming a reddish base piece like this? I've heard good things but would appreciate your opinion!
Did I miss the paint you used in the description? I know you said it was gifted but do you have a link for it?

I think you should have made the top 😊the same color as legs it would be more like the legs went with it.
I agree with many comments that this lacks symmetry, from the knobs everywhere to the bottom. Doesn’t feel cohesive.

@13.39 you just worked out why metric, grats!
I love outdated cherry furniture and the batwing gold pulls. Lol you would call me outdated. 1:08
Looking for any tricks when spraying a dresser that the drawers are not flush.
Hat is the brand name of your drawer hardware jig?
Gorgeous! Only the knobs are weirdly placed...
Pretty
What is "gatekeeping"?
I like everything you did with that dresser, except the knobs are really not my style. I would have put black or silver knobs on it. That's just my preference.
I love the white dresser ( & knobs...just not on this dresser)...with the organic looking base...think maybe more organic looking hardware? 🤔
I think it would look better if the top matched the base.
I love the white and the base really brought this piece up to date. Nice job! So what is this mystery paint you used, lol? ;) I could see the label a little...thinking it might be Behr?
I thought Behr too Thor premium shows on the back label just as she pours the can.
This is not about this episode. I just saw a chest of drawers turned into shoe storage. The drawer fronts tipped open and held two level of shoes! Thought you might want to know
Why not find pulls with the same hole size? Less work.
Lauren, what happened with your workshop glow-up? You two don't seem to show the corner with the cabinets you built.
I feel that you could have gone monotone with the flowers to have some texture. I’ve seen this done and it looks nice. Maybe just put the flowers on one side and used flowers of varying sizes instead of the small ones only. Just my opinion.
why do you re list the dresser rather than just dropping the price? Thank you!
I dislike the hardware. The long handles pulls would be beautiful!😊

I will keep looking, but right now it's bedtime. Trust me there are some with better flat stops than the ones that comes with the kit.
The collar threads might be stripped.
The two pictures hanging over the piece would look so much better if they were not hung one higher than the other but were hung evenly.
❤❤❤❤❤
