Beautiful review. I've got one which had the tan Hamilton leather strap. Lovely but saw online how good it looked with the black one. Bought one, loved it then became obsessed with the metal bracelet. Added that now and godamn. I'm done. I love it.

My wife bought it for me for my 40th and as a pilot, I love it… the power reserve is perfect for when you have a three day rest at home then start flying again… I also get lots of compliments from other pilots… that, along with the film connection make it excellent. It’s nice and slim for under a cuff and not too big!
Hey Cap. Love your channel, big fan or yours and Biggles adventures. I got this watch just before Christmas, and I love it too. I’ll enjoy piloting my Kawasaki W800 round the lanes of Cornwall happily wearing it.
I just recently acquired this watch. My just shy of 7" wrist isn't too small for it, there is still one more link plus the micro adjustment left to play with. I've only had it for a few hours, but really love this watch. The looks and the feel are exceptional, especially the applied Arabic numbers. It is one of those things that I measure by the following question. "Am I glad I just dropped a grand on it?" The answer to my question is "yes." Probably my new everyday watch, my other was the new Seiko Alpinist, which is also a great watch, but I found its "true" diameter (the diameter of the dial and clock function) to be a bit smaller than I'd like. I was debating between this and the full-size Murph because I wanted a Swiss field watch to offset my Japanese one and it doesn't disappoint. I know that Teddy points to the Murph 38 as the main competition to the Alpinist for best field watch, but I wanted something a little more complicated and went this way. I hope it still satisfies a few years from now, but right now I'm very happy I pulled the trigger.

Hi Teddy. Great review, this watch is phenomenal, and certainly punches above its weight/price. I have smaller wrists (6.75-7”) and find it wears really well, the compact lug to lug and curvature of the case gives it a really nice shape. The power reserve is great, I can take it off on a Friday, leave it in the watchbox over the weekend, come Monday it’s still ticking. Super accurate, mine gains less than a second a day, and if left over the weekend looses the gained seconds and is bang on time again. The free sprung balance wheel is a real winner I feel, and whilst slightly more involved if requiring regulation, it can be done by adjusting the weights on the balance wheel. Overall, I’d highly recommend this watch.

Ps : i had to choose between this one and the Tudor Black Bay 😂 please don't hate me, i know Tudor is better quality but Interstellar is my favourite movie of all time 👌and before anyone asking, this isn't my first watch i already got quite a few watches from casio, seiko to IWC, Omega, Sinn, Tudor, Rolex, A Lange Sohne

I ended up ordering the 38mm version in rose gold on a leather strap. Reference H64445595. I really wanted the stainless version, but it was discontinued and is impossible to find even used… the smaller one has the day/date at 3 o’clock position rather than this awkward day position on the 42mm version. It also has ETA Caliber 2836-2 instead of the slowed down H-40 so smaller dial with higher beat equals smoother second hand movement. It was a bit of a compromise to take rose gold over stainless, but overall I think the smaller one I got is a better watch. I really wish Hamilton didn’t discontinue the 38mm stainless version. I guess it didn’t sell very well?
I have a Jazzmaster with ETA 2892, which is incredibly accurate, and yesterday I bought a Khaki Field Aviation automatic with H30 and an 80-hour power reserve with a blue dial. Hamilton watches offer a lot for their price, which justifies their purchase.
I have this watch and I really like how this watch looks as well as how versatile it is. I work in aviation for the US Navy and this watch is perfect for my days on base dressed up or dressed down. Size is perfect for my 7 in. wrist.

The joys of being neurodivergent. I have a horrible habit of getting obsessed by things, like headphones, speakers, televisions and camera lenses. My most recent obsession has been watches and I have spent hours most days, looking at videos and going on websites. With me, normally ending up spending far too much money on an item, trying to break the obsession. I did try to stop the obsession early buy getting a cheapish divers watch (a Citizen Promaster Titanium Eco-Drive Diver's Watch) but it didn't have the desired effect. Come forward, 5 months and with a couple of close calls (nearly buying the Frederique Constant Classic World Timer and an Omega Speedmaster, both of which I really couldn't afford). In the end, I bought the Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot watch and I can't be happier. It is a great looking watch and I don't find the watch too big for my 7.25 inch wrist. The irony of course is being neurodivergent, I also hate the feel of jewellery on my skin, which means the odds are, I will only ever wear the watch on very special occasions. But fingers crossed, it will stop me lusting over more watches.
Don’t cross your fingers, this is a disease. I don’t know what it is about watches but it seems to hit people like a bug and your bank account will forever be enslaved.
With these BIG dials, one can really see the jerky motion of the low-beat H-10 movement. It is a shame they reduced the beat rate on these otherwise excellent watches.
Well, I guess it depends on what's more important to you. Is having a "sweeping" second hand more important or is having an 80 hour power reserve? I kind of like the idea that I can take the watch off for a weekend and be ready to go on Monday morning
@@anandmorris you make a great point. I really enjoy the wearing experience of a watch--the way it sits on my wrist. I've tried many 42mm's and things in similar size, and just never been happy with the way it overhung on my wrist.
@@jacobschmitt7033 Yeah my best mate is the same as you in that sense. Personally, as a Yorkshireman, if i buy a watch, its gonna be the biggest size poss as my brain immediately thinks about material to money ratio 🤣
I've noticed a slight anomaly in this particulare watch in the video. The name of the day is not positioned exactly in the center of the frame. If you look closely at 0:47 you can even spot a part of the "y" letter of Saturday in the very left side of the frame. I have the same issue with my own Hamillton watch. Is this correctable?
Same. I was relieved to find this video and comment confirming the same day misalignment I have with this watch. I just got my watch back for the second time from Hamilton’s repair service with the same problem persisting. I guess it’s deemed within spec. Shame, it’s a beautiful watch, but I cannot un-see.
The 42mm quartz version has a screw down crown, while the 42mm automatic doesn’t. I don’t understand why Hamilton would design them differently in that regard.
Really like the day in full letters complication at 12h. 👌 I think it would be better with the day-date disks with the same color as the dial. Works better with white a dial. Speaking of the dial, the hour inside ring is a bit too busy for me. And 42 mm is a bit too much for my taste. Overall, it’s a quite nice watch: I just might be a little picky here. 👍😁
I have small wrists and spent way too long tracking down the older 38mm version of this (with 3-oclock day and date), but it's one of my favorite watches by far. Will probably never sell.
Got mine a week ago and it broke. Day is off center. AD took back the watch for a refund. Problem is this watch is out of production. On to the next watch.
@@fmartmart8099 No they shouldn't, because Hamilton doesn't sell direct to consumer like Christopher Ward does. Their overhead is significantly higher. You can't even compare the two.
@@Brian-ee1gx uhh yes they do. Why would you argue against something that makes watch wearing easier, more convenient, and probably only adds $50 of cost.
@@fmartmart8099 Because it's not economically viable for them to do it at their price point. It's not just Hamilton that doesn't do it, it's the entire watch industry. Tudor doesn't even do tool-less micro adjustment on their watches, save for one that carries a $1000 price premium for it....

You just described about 25% of people watching this
Don’t cross your fingers, this is a disease. I don’t know what it is about watches but it seems to hit people like a bug and your bank account will forever be enslaved.
Please convince Hamilton to make this watch in 37/38mm, while keeping every feature!
Very very nice watch. The perfect design. I bought one after watching the video. I ilke it very much. 😍
Too bad the lume doesn't last. Other than that it's a fantastic watch !
Does this come with German days?
With these BIG dials, one can really see the jerky motion of the low-beat H-10 movement. It is a shame they reduced the beat rate on these otherwise excellent watches.
Yeah. It is a downgrade imo but I still love mine.
I thought it has the H-40... Sad.
i may just be weird but i love the way a low beat sweep looks
@@istvantoth7431it is,
Well, I guess it depends on what's more important to you. Is having a "sweeping" second hand more important or is having an 80 hour power reserve? I kind of like the idea that I can take the watch off for a weekend and be ready to go on Monday morning
Stunning watch !!!
really wish they'd make this in 38mm for us smaller wrist people. This would be a perfect daily.
Mate, i have smaller wrists but always go for the largest watches. Idgaf what anyone thinks, i buy and wear what i want and like (and can afford!)
Too big, hockey puck...? This is men's flieger style watch so what is the right size - 35mm? Rolex OP 41 is nearly the same.
Not if you’re an actual full size man and not a soy boy champ….
Nice watch, shame it isn't 40 mm...
There is a 38mm version that is kind of rarer
@@minirai I’ve never seen that. Do you know the ref?
@@mariog7213 it should start with H644250. I think 1 ref is H64425555 (the silver dial)
Beautiful. I have a 16.5 inch wrist, what do you think?
If Hamilton introduced a COSC version with the same design Cooper had in the film, I would order that straigh away.
Mine has been running within COSC standards consistently for a year now, its accuracy is definitely undersold
Mine has great accuracy, I set it 3 days ago and I have lost 1 sec…
is it not the same design as cooper's?
@@malayneum It is the same watch, not sure that the OP is saying.
The 42mm quartz version has a screw down crown, while the 42mm automatic doesn’t. I don’t understand why Hamilton would design them differently in that regard.
Does anyone know what year Hamilton first released the Pilot Day Date? I can't find it anywhere online.
2014.
@@MrMESSI so it was released the same year that Interstellar came out? Interesting. Thanks.
Now that murph has a smaller version, this one need it as well but I'll suggest go down up to 36mm. The dial does make it wear bigger.
Really like the day in full letters complication at 12h. 👌
I think it would be better with the day-date disks with the same color as the dial. Works better with white a dial.
Speaking of the dial, the hour inside ring is a bit too busy for me.
And 42 mm is a bit too much for my taste.
Overall, it’s a quite nice watch: I just might be a little picky here. 👍😁
why some of them have the H in the back like a star and others a simple "H" ?
I have small wrists and spent way too long tracking down the older 38mm version of this (with 3-oclock day and date), but it's one of my favorite watches by far. Will probably never sell.
Can you share where you find it? I love this watch so much, but my wrists are way too small for a 42mm.
Should I buy this watch in 2024?
Bro yes
@@Rachturne thanks pal, I already did. It's an amazing and modest watch with high quality.
.....and they do a 46mm version with the day/date at 3o'clock and 200 metres of water resistance. For those of us that like a better sized watch.
Got mine a week ago and it broke. Day is off center. AD took back the watch for a refund. Problem is this watch is out of production. On to the next watch.
Both the day and day disks are misaligned.
Not a knock against the watch at this price point IMO. Even Omega doesn't get date disks perfect.
6,5 sorry😊
What are people seeing in Hamilton and IWC?
Lolwhat
Should've been 40mm with a lug-to-lug of 45. When will Hamilton learn?
It's perfect as is.
Nono, definitely agree
Can this be a dress watch?
Absolutely
Lug to lug 47,6 mm, really???
first
omg wow congratulations
thanks
@@AOSRoyal hahaha
Much wow!
No tool-less micro adjustment on the clasp = no sale
Use a tooth pick. Quick adjust clasps are extremely uncommon on sub-$5000 watches
@@Brian-ee1gx that needs to change. If Christopher Ward can execute it perfectly on price points under $1,000 so should Hamilton
Would you prefer Hamilton give you tool-less micro adjustment, but cut back on the quality of the watch? Tudor doesn't even do tool-less micro adjustment on their watches, save for one that carries a $1000 price premium for it....
No hockey puck size watches for me thanks.
So no pilot watches at all for you. Gotcha
Fits great on man sized wrists.
