Was my first really good watch and I can't even begin to tell you how much I love it. I've had it for a few years now and I've worn it just about every day since I bought it at the end of 2016. Works with literally any outfit.
Another good review Jody....I was so pleased to hear the recent news about Lewis Hamilton losing his 3 year court battle trying to stop Hamilton using their name as their trade mark ....a company that has been going since 1892!....what a plonker!....nice watch btw :)
Got this yesterday as a birthday present & whilst I haven't worn it yet as I need to get the bracelet adjusted, I absolutely love it. Cannot fault it in any way. Love these videos. Honest, succinct & entertaining.
At your recommendation I bought one, and I must say it´s just stunning. Running perfect, a shame to far more expensive and maybe more flashy watches. I already found out about the strange finish to the dial/ indexes.... Although the numbers seem to appear/ disappear on the angle of light applied, they grasp for almost any ray of light they can get in the cockpit or a car, resulting in excellent readability. Just move it a small bit, and there´s loom in the pit. Nice one Hamilton, I´m loving it.... ❤

I like how it's evident that the video was shot over the weekend. The day at the beginning of the video is Saturday and turns to Sunday towards the end of the video.
A friend of mine bought me the quartz version with the day date at the 3:00. I don't even mind that it's a quartz, you should all have at least one. But you did a great job in showing just how beautiful that dial is. And you're right, when I have it out in the sunshine, I just stare at how much light play there is. It is a beautiful watch.
@@mies_cup it can be just pure luck. Yesterday I checked mine Omega Planet Ocean with a professional watchmaker: 0 seconds in several positions and -1 second in 1. The watch was bought in 2014 and the caseback has never been opened. The watchmaker was really amazed :)
I've owned this watch for several years now, and it was my first Swiss watch. Love it! It's a permanent member of the collection and earmarked for my Son someday. Thanks for the review! Glad you enjoyed it too!
I’ve had the Khaki chronograph for about five years with the same applied indices. The dial depth and the indices together are exceptional and I love the quality especially for the cost.
I purchased mine from Jomashop about 3 years ago. They truly are the goto watch dealer as far as I'm concerned. The watch is everything you make it out to be. Mine is on the leather strap rather than the bracelet. It's a great alternative to a diver as a sporty everyday wear.
Been looking at Hamilton for a couple of years now trying decide on a model, this will be my next watch in 2021. Thanks for the great macro shots. The etched indicies did it for me.
This is an awesome watch, Jody. I have had this Pilot Day Date in my collection for over two years and it is truly one of the most comfortable watches I have ever worn on my 7.5” wrist. For some reason, the bracelet just disappears when wearing the watch. I am a sci-fi geek too and I love “Interstellar” (all Nolan movies, to be honest). Therefore I just had to add the Murph (with the limited Tesseract box 😀) to join the Coop in my collection. Thanks for the review.
I have the blue-dialed variant and it is one of my favorites! It dresses up well on a color matched croc-styled leather strap too. I seem to recall catching a sale on Amazon and paying even less but it is more than worth the price it is being sold for on Jomashop. Thanks Jody!
I own a Hamilton Khaki Field automatic and it's one of my favorites. Beautiful, and the accuracy of the movement is amazing. I've been thinking about buying another, as well as a type B flieger. This just might scratch both itches. And yes, my Khaki Field suffers from the same AR deficiency as this one, but I can compensate for that just fine. Thanks for the review.
What an absolutely beautiful watch. It has the finish of elegance while also having the foundation of a tool watch. I have been thinking about this watch non stop since I saw your review so I am expecting mine to arrive next week lol.
Great looking watch that covers a lot of Flieger bases. I have the same bracelet on my 2018 Hamilton Khaki Scuba Diver (black/orange) and it is a fabulous bracelet. I've wondered why it isn't highlighted in more reviews. So good on you, Jodi, for showcasing it.

I really like how they managed to add quite some details on the classic type B flieger dial without looking cluttered. Another example (quartz though) is Escapement Time who put two sub dials and a date window at six o'clock, making it a flieger/chronograph hybrid and it looks great. Of course way below this price range though.
I had this watch a few years ago and really liked it. The shimmer and texture of the dial always remembered me on a nice vinyl LP. The quality for the price is outstanding! Anyways, I sold it to fund my first Speedmaster!😎
Interestingly, nobody talks about this interesting feature when it comes to the Powermatic 80 movements: These come with a free sprung balance which has two eccentric adjustable weights on the arms which lets you (if you have the proper tool and knowledge) fine-adjust this movement better than an ETA28XX! I have a Khaki King P80 and it performs like a Chronometer.
Been eyeing this model of Hamilton for quite some time. I kept telling myself "save your money, the holidays are here". You aren't making this any easier on me Jody!
Such an amazing watch and so well reviewed. You've got me drooling Jody, man what a stunner! After the minger from your previous review the universe is in balance again...

I recently watched Interstellar for the first time as well and thought it was a great movie. This watch looks pretty good! I don't really dig some of Hamilton's other designs though.
I bought the cooper one year ago, and one month ago I’ve got the murph at an incredible price in an AD. Together they are really an inspiring combination! Cheers!
I got the Murph which is a gorgeous watch and I think this will be my next once I get some pennies together. Unlike the khaki king auto which fits on my 7.5 inch wrist like a kids sized watch I prefer the dimensions on the Murph and this one. Agreed, I wish Hamilton would start using AR coating on their watches!
Interstellar is one of the best sci-fi movies ever, full stop. And the relation to this movie makes this fabulous watch even more desirable. So much to like about it, visual interest with the skeletonized hands and the interestin applied numerals. And I am a sucker for this type of domed crystal. I also like the bracelet, with just that little amount of polished surfaces, keeping the overall aesthetics tooly. Cheers! 👍
You Know Jody, I think that is the nicest thing I have heard about Hamilton lume. I love the hands and Type B dial. Thanks to you and Jomashop. Great review as always,
A little gutted I sold mine! But with hardly a bezel and all dial the watch just looked too big on my wrist and I was defending it in my head!! “ITS A PILOTS WATCH...... ITS MEANT TO BE BIG!!” . But I just didn’t wear it! My Seagull 1963 will do fine on his own in the pilots watch collection!;)
Next time this pops up at the deal that I could grab it at , it’s coming home. I don’t get why I didn’t see the many sharp looks of this piece earlier. Thanks Jody for putting this bad boy on review. 🙏🏽
I bought the Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date Auto from Jomashop a while back. The lack of anti-reflective coating and the ‘disappearing indices syndrome’ drove me nuts so I sold it. Bought a Laco Flieger and it’s WAY more legible. Maybe the Murph? Cheers!
I just don't like the completely flat dials on a lot of the pilot watches. This is exciting for that reason. Now get around to doing the Glycine Airman
Your review of this watch is reserved and soothing...just like the watch... I have the Khaki King. It is the best wearing watch that I own and I refer to it as my getting-ready-for-bed-watch...I must have this one for my collection as well!
I would argue that Hamilton should add some ar coating to their crystals coz Hamiltons in general are known for their crazy reflections. Besides that a lovely watch imho too.
There hasn’t been much on my wanted list this year, after I bought my Seiko Air Diver limited edition. This one however, really interests me... and is within striking distance. Looks like my 2021 first purchase is decided.
Love this watch and you’re spot on with the dimensions. On the thin side as well. Bought this for my cousin’s birthday as he works on Navy airplanes. I may or may not have “borrowed” on numerous occasions 🤣
Ironically I bought mine right around the time you release this video. Mine though surely shows some blue-ish anti-reflective. I will try to capture it in my video...someday! :)
Been looking at getting another Hamilton (x wind auto chrono has been my daily since September), hadn't really considered this but I am now!! Love it, impressed with the value : quality ratio of Hamilton. Cheers mate 👍🏻👍🏻
I have a Jazzmaster with ETA 2892, which is incredibly accurate, and yesterday I bought a Khaki Field Aviation automatic with H30 and an 80-hour power reserve with a blue dial. Hamilton watches offer a lot for their price, which justifies their purchase.
Just picked up the Murph and may actually get this one. Both watches do suffer from a lack of anti reflective coating but it does not take away from all the positive points you've highlighted. Great review!
Staying in the Swatch fam - the Mido Ocean Star (specifically that blue dial model) is the perfect diver alternative to this watch. Mostly the same specs with equal Swiss craftsmanship. Both are really choice bargains if you ask me.
Have this one myself but in 46mm form with the 2824 movement!,love this watch even though it’s a bit on the large size!,the bigger variant also has the benefit of a screw down crown and 200m of water resistance👍
Navy Pioneer is a grail for me. The Marine Chronometer look is perfect for casual and dress. I love the wire lugs with the hidden spring bars. But it is the 100m that makes it a great watch all round. Of course the only downside is no lume but the white dial and dark hands work.
Good luck with your decision... they are both awesome watches. I own the Pilot and simply adore it. I am a Hamilton fanboy with (too?) many in my collection, but love to add the Navy Pioneer as well.
Looks great makes a fleiger a sensible option with the day and date. Day at twelve never gets obscured like it does on a Seiko 5 (never realised how often you look for the day at quarter past). Not sufficiently different to my Khaki King to spend that kind of money on one. The extra reserve isn't a big enough benefit to trade off the smooth second hand. If I am not wearing a watch for three days it's probably In the box and It's something else's turn.
A word of warning about Jomashop. I purchased this watch from them and I will never do so again. My watch was defective and they would not respond to any emails. Their customer support sucks. They also delete negative reviews from their website.
But there was a time we had no sapphire, and mineral was less reflective than sapphire is, so yes we kind of need a bit more of the anti reflective coating with a sapphire if you don't want to struggle everytime you want to read the time if the light isn't going the right way around your watch
I don’t think they’re underrated at all. At least not the field watches. I think that they’ve hit a home run with their newer releases like the intra matics
I bought the white face version, but with a quartz movement as a travel watch, mainly because it’s accurate and gets 200m water resistance, so it can be taken everywhere. AND... I bought it from Jomashop, which gets to me in Sydney fast and cheap. I can’t recommend the watch and the dealer too highly.
I LOVE the silver indices. Never noticed before because the date stands in a bad way and the giant day window is a deal killer for me. Still, I finally get why others love it. I’ll stick to my Laco Aachen. Not the best finishing, but I love the blue dial.
I really liked this watch. But 42 is too big for my 6.4 inch wrist. So I ended up with the khaki auto 38mm. This was 3 years ago. I’m now watching this vid with a muprh 38mm, also another beaut. I have slowly became a big fan of hamilton watches, they are all truly versatile, simple yet sophisticated, well priced, easy to maintain, and most importanltly, what a history they have. Unmistakenly american

Have been enjoying this watch for almost a year. Definitely a keeper. My favourite together with the Orient Triton and the Citizen NY0040
A word of warning about Jomashop. I purchased this watch from them and I will never do so again. My watch was defective and they would not respond to any emails. Their customer support sucks. They also delete negative reviews from their website.
There was a time when no watches had anti reflective coating. Somehow, we all struggled by.
But there was a time we had no sapphire, and mineral was less reflective than sapphire is, so yes we kind of need a bit more of the anti reflective coating with a sapphire if you don't want to struggle everytime you want to read the time if the light isn't going the right way around your watch
One of my favourite movie. Love this watch 🥰
Great video thanks Jody. I don’t have a Hammy in my collection... yet.
I'm going to safe up for this one, is a beauty
Hamilton are seriously underated watches
Currently saving for this one.
