Love to see your team offering their own personal experience and input as a part of this channel, its a wonderful opportunity for them as well as for us the view!!! Ty always Teddy!
I opted to get Seiko's Alpinist instead of the Hamilton's Murph 38. Both are great, but I thought the Alpinist had a bit more character with all of it's interesting design choices. The Murph has a classy and elegant look, I may get one next year.
I bought mine for my 35th birthday in October and absolutely love it. It is super legible, can be worn with nearly anything, and is comparatively affordable. The strap is still is a bit “squeaky” even 2 months in for me. Easily top 3 in my collection.
Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from MAMACOO I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.
I've only recently started my journey into watch collecting. Frolicked in the "kiddie pool" for a decade, or so, with Fossil and Skaagen until I bought my first "real" watch. I wanted a mechanical, but got smitten with a Seiko Solar. It's been my daily watch for a decade...until my family got me a Timex M79 for my birthday last year. The seal was broken, and I got into the hobby with a fever. I really wanted a Swiss watch, and I really appreciated Hamilton's pedigree, so I began the plot to get one. I prefer bracelets, and was really looking to get the Khaki Field Auto, but the Murph always held my interest (I hadn't seen the film at the time) given its simplicity. Fast forward a few months, and they release the black with a bracelet...that was it. I ordered one from Teddy for my birthday. I absolutely enjoy it! It's a really brilliant piece. My only complaint is the lack of any AR on the crystal, but it's still a lovely piece that makes me happy every time I wear it. Also I finally watched the film, and loved it as well. I cant recommend both enough.
Yes, I have bought from MAMACOO more than once. I even bought a new Omega Speedmaster which came with the fancy box and packaging. I am thrilled with all my purchases here. I would purchase from MAMACOO again for sure.
One of the biggest criticisms of the entire Khaki field series, including the Murph, is the reflectivity of the crystal - it's surprising to me that this isn't even discussed in detail here. The white dial - to my eyes - also seems much less legible because of the lack of contrast between the handset and the dial.
Interestingly, with the white dial, I really did not notice any interference by way of crystal reflection. I definitely speak to the dial contrast in the video but at least from my experience, the crystal does not have reflection issues to the point of interrupting view of the dial. Hope that’s helpful!
@@Danny-Milton Thanks Danny, appreciate the comment. The reflections are definitely a massive bug-bear among the community. I noticed it especially on my Khaki Field Auto. All said, reflections or otherwise the Murph is still amazing and the white dial is neat.
Between this one and the Tissot Heritage 1938 COSC (white dial, both of them). Having a hard time deciding. The 4hz, the precision, and the ability to easily regulate and service the watch are really strong points of the Heritage, but this dial and the 80-hour reserve... are also strong points of this watch.
I loved hearing Danny's owner perspective on this watch, as well as the comparison to the other models. I got to briefly check out this new model at the Minutes+Hours show in Austin last weekend. It was not a scientific comparison, but it seemed like the lume on the white dial (yes, I had a UV light on hand) was a touch brighter than that of the regular Murph 38. The Murph 38 black dial is brilliant on the new bracelet, and I wonder/hope Hamilton will add a bracelet to it like they quietly did with the white dial Khaki Expedition a few months after release. That being said, Uncle Straps has an option, and I must say the Jubilee style from them on the white dial looks great on an example I saw. In fact, I love the white dial OP 39, but with the prices those demand with the short production run, maybe a white dial Murph 38 and a bracelet from Uncle Straps is the right thing I need to fulfill my white dial watch desire. 🤔 One wish I do have for Hamilton is to release a bracelet version in the 42mm model. I have a friend who is quite tall like me, but he's got a much bigger wrist and doesn't really go below 40mm, but loves this style of dial. However, I get why the focus is on the 38mm, as that seems to be the enthusiast sweet spot.
Habring has a beautiful textured dial like this, and man are they just amazing. I was in possession of the Felix, and it is incredible. Obviously, they are not comparable in craftsmanship, but this is a great option for a budget that punches well above its weight class.
Let me first start off that I like the way Teddy started the video , and then handed off to an owner, which happens to be Danny, and staff member.I feel this adds a real weight to what is said, for that I am thankful. I'm usually a dark dial guy, I appreciate contrast for the legibility. With that said, I feel this white dial offers the same. I was hoping for a lume shot, Hamilton has been known in the past to short change us in that dept. I am not much of a science fiction movie guy, but I think it's time to sit down and watch this movie. I doubt I would go after the 42mm movie version "murph" based on how much I do or don't like the movie, but 38 mm is right in my wheel house.
you should continue individuals' sharing on specific watches like this, works wonder. Please include average watch wearers with limited technical knowledge too.
While the Murph has movie watch history, the design is classic and is best represented in the Hanhart Preventor HD12 on the bund. While it costs a few hundred more, the watch is better constructed, using better materials, a similar movement, and is regulated to a higher standard.
I would like to know people’s opinion on the black leather strap. This is one of the reasons I have stayed on the fence. To me black leather is way too formal. I tend to wear brown leather and just keep the black leather for the real formal events. Any thoughts?
Am I the only one who views the constant film references as a negative? I love this watch, but would buy it IN SPITE of it being in a film. Not the other way around.
Hear me out, for I'm about to say something very controversial for the lume lovers. The White dial Murph would be better imo without lume, with simple silver hands, silver applied numbers and a stainless steel bracelet.
I've recently began my obsession as a watch collector. And i must say- out of all the luxury brands I've been researching, for me the AMZWATCH's watches are the most intriguing.
Main drawback is, without a date or calendar, it's not a big deal at all if the power runs out (quick/easy to set the time). It's an auto so it won't happen with regular wear anyway. I'd much rather have a faster beatrate (4hz, 28,800k) than 80hr PR.
The most iconic piece under 1k , definitely want to own it one day

Ty always Teddy!
Hamilton are one of my favourite brands. They listen to the fans as well. You don't need to spend crazy money to own a nice watch.
Are they putting AR coating like the fans want?
@@julienfroidevaux1143 They have on some of their models. But Rolex don't so it either, yet no one mentions that!

Congratulations on the birthday watch! Was a great choice
Congrats. It is great watch.

Pulled the trigger on a Hamilton Khaki Mechanical this weekend. Love this maker.

MAMACOO!Every time you exhibit one of these watches I become super tempted to get one.
Keeping the tradition alive,
TEDDY BULBASAUR.
I love the team and different opinion and contrast in commentary.
I bought a khaki field yesterday from Teddy. Broke the seal with a cheap Tissot PR100 a few weeks ago and had to get a mechanical watch.

I really like this owner’s review format.
The black 38mm is the most beautiful without a doubt the white dial isn't as classy as the black the orignal colour is the best😊
Looks like Danny found his way off the sinking ship that is Hodinkee onto a sturdier ship. Glad to see

Having had the hamilton khaki for a couple years, great watch at a good price

Love my 38 Black Dial Murph. It’s prefect…spends so much time on the wrist, I’m worried It will grow up thinking it’s an only child
I would have prefered a bit more contrast between hands and numerals and the dial. But probable going for the black one anyway.
Hamilton is the best value in the watch world now. 💪🏼
Hamilton and Tissot were my families first luxury watches and we often wear them more than our Rolexes.
They rereleasing Interstellar on IMAX for the 10th anniversary. Nolan is GOAT
I'm a white dial guy, so it works for me.
He did a good job
Well done. Thx
I’ll own a Hamilton someday

Agree about the dial contrast 👍👍

ur the man tedders
This needs to be on that bracelet, or maybe a brown strap would look nice as well.
I like it. It is simple and elegant.
I'd like a Murph with a date function, not sure why nobody is saying this. It is much more practical in day-to-day tasks.
please explore and present to us deployment buckle options for both, 38 and 42 🙏🏻⌚️💯👊🏻
Hi Teddy, can you review the Tissot PR516? A newly released Tissot GADA model.
This in 42mm on a bracelet! I wish watch manufacturers would make it easier to pair a watch with a strap or bracelet you want.
It’s awkward how the presenter appears during the intro then transitions to voiceover entirely with B-roll. Thanks for the fantastic review, though.
Love Hamilton
That crown needs subtle guards!
We customers need hardened-case, screw-down crown & 200m WR
Very demure, very mindful

Didn't know about it. Looks great. I bought a 38 Murph a couple of years ago. It looks great too.

Great watch, like the original bit more i guess
I wish the outlines of the hands were in black. It’s just not legible enough for me, at least on screen.
All dat MAMACOO watches sssssoooooooo gorgeous!
Am I the only one who views the constant film references as a negative? I love this watch, but would buy it IN SPITE of it being in a film. Not the other way around.
I see it as a positive but nothing special. I haven't even seen the movie.
Hear me out, for I'm about to say something very controversial for the lume lovers.

I don’t like the white dial version because of the legibility, but the black one is beautiful!
Agreed.

there isn't a contrast with the numerals and hands. not sure about this one. Expedition white dial is more sporty, but nicer

Need in 40mm 😭
Not a big fan of the white dial, I like the black dial bc of the movie. I own the black dial but I do really want the bracelet.
Dig it
I wish the outlines of the hands were in black. It’s just not legible enough for me.
All its elements seem to be homaging trench watches. That would be a cool marketing idea
Those who own this. Is the contrast of the dial as bad as it seems in videos?
definitely a nice watch. I am personally a date person, so not for me.
Oh why oh why doesnt this exist in a 40
Too small. The Murph is a 42mm watch. This is a mini-Murph. Give us the real deal.
The new straps are shite. Mine started coming unglued on the sides
Hamilton straps are always shit. They’re cheap and never really break in before they break.
Yet another sales pitch cloaked in a ‘review.’
Also, the Murph does not look good on bracelet.
I don't like field watches with bracelet. Don't ask me why.
Texture dials look cheap and are abundant these days 😒
