  • This experiment is to determine the effects of wind on the rate of transpiration. This experiment can also be modified to investigate other factors such as light and humidity.
    Remember to set up a control experiment with the same plants.

    Just wondering whether the accuracy of your result be affected by using different type of plants, and ensure they have the same mass.

      For the experiment I did, I was comparing different plants. However, for accuracy, the number of leaves, leaf size, maturity, and mass are factors that must be considered or controlled.

    Does this experiment work if I want to find the rate of transpiration of a plant in a normal environment without the wind?

      @science_exam  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, but remember it is hard to find the exact rate of transpiration. What you are actually finding is the rate of water uptake. The rate of water uptake gives an idea about the rate of transpiration.

    Why we use oil in here ?

    • @science_exam
      @science_exam  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To prevent the evaporation of water from the bottle. Therefore, any water loss from the bottle must be by plant taking up water.

      What is the reason quickly submerge the cut end of the branch in the measuring cylinder with the water ? Thank you for your response !

    • @science_exam
      @science_exam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Hotliverbaby The cut end will allow the plant to uptake water easily since the xylem will now be exposed to water.

    There is no roots present on there so how water go through xylem !!

    • @science_exam
      @science_exam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The xylem is a narrow, hollow dead tube. Hence, as water evaporates from the leaves it will result in a continuous pulling of water. This is achieved by the capillary action of water. Additionally, this is easily achieved because water is adhesive and cohesive. See, transpiration pull.
