Nightblades from Eso could still be using Azra's school of shadow magic, because he was trapped in a crystal at an unknown date and only freed during Shadowkey. That date could easily have been before Eso.
Azra Nightweidler was actually born sometime in the Second Era not the Third Era so he perhaps was the first to use shadow magic and made it standard use during the Second Era which would explain why nightblades use shadow magic during that time. Elder Scrolls travels Shadowkey takes place in the Third Era but Azra is not from that Era which also possibly makes him an immortal or someone who has achieved CHIM in Elder Scrolls Universe
I really look forward to lore videos on the lesser known games. I would never be able to get myself to play those due to their age, but I don't doubt that the stories are awesome.
Yeh that and others type of magic like flesh magic , blood magic, elemental magic , daedric magic ....etc like it's kinda stupid for Skyrim to only have the basic magic stuff especially considering hermous mora influence in the game and it's believed that he knows and have all type of knowledge in his realm including said magic but we can only hope
Absorbing shadows? You mean my fellow brothers and sisters of darkness that have received the ultimate honor of joining Nocturnal in the evergloom and becoming one with the shadows? Blasphemous!
Don't say I didn't get the joke, I did, but the shadows that are being absorbed are definitely not the shadows you're thinking of. Shadow mages absorb peoples shadows, the souls of the evergloam are shadow reflections, as in they are the ones that you can actually see.
It's understood that Nocturnal deals with actual shadows, the absence of light which aids obfuscation. Shadow magic is a metaphorical interpretation of shadows, which taps power from unseen possibilities (quantum superposition) as a result of the conflict between Anu and Padomay.
@@paladinmaguireofbos3347there is another called shadow magic package but it seems triumvirate is more lore accurate. It’s a shame that the shadow magic is tied in with a bunch of other “archetypes” that aren’t lore friendly 💀
@Negasso Kadir No, Azra could not beat the immortal Shalidor. Sheogorath barely beat him. He couldn't even beat the hero Vanus Galerion. He never became a master wizard like either of them. He disappeared.
+American patriot R Must say that the way it was wrapped up is quite good. I mean take gravity in our own history as an example. Everyone knew it was around and used it for falling down etc. But Newton discovered the way to calculate with gravity and actually use it for useful things. See Azra as the Newton of Shadow Magic
Everything we see in ESO is taking place in the timeline and we are there to experience it. It doesn't get more canon than that. It doesn't matter what any book or npc says, you were there to witness it, so you know it happened. Keep in mind time changes and by the time of Skyrim there had been several time breaks already. You can't compare lore from separate games and say "this is invalid" you can only say "this is no longer valid."
Honestly I just see this as more proof that ESO should not be considered cannon. Bethesda being always so careful with lore and gameplay mechanics making sense. Then Zenimax storms in with their money truck, ramming over established lore with horrid disregard for the gameplay to lore transition.
And zenimax is doing a way better job than bethesda. I mean look at fallout 76, and zenimax feels like they do care about money but they also care about the lore and community whereas Bethesda feels like they just care about making as much money as possible.
Hope you enjoyed it! Was a lot of effort to make this video as I had to watch and entire shadowkey playthrough, as I do not own a N-Gage system.

Best of luck with an emulator
Shadow Magic is the type of Magic School that requires its own Questline.

Some One either needs to remake them or put them in a game as a mod or both
Shadow magic is a topic many people don't know about. I'm glad you explained that. Awesome video!
"Things are not what they seem"
I love characters like this.
We need shadow magic in elder scrolls 6

nice video as always
The Civil war conflict in Skyrim would have been a very good source for Shadow Magic
How so?

It really would though
Great video! Could you do one on the First Empire of the Nords?
Love your channel and your lor videos they're very interesting and informative at times and on certain subjects
Would the Shadow Mage spells from the Triumvirate mod in Skyrim be considered actual shadow magic?
Yeah I'd say they are.

Eh, they are close, but not the full potential of shadow magic.
He maybe mentioned in ES6 since its believed 2 b in Hammerfell.
keep growing man!
If the next game is in hammerfell which probably is then they should expand more on it
I recognize that accent anywhere. Hello fellow Dutchman!
Interesting video 👍🏻

Shadow magic is just so cool. I wish the games would have it more often. Skyrim Mods and ESO aren't enough for me.
